- Emma is just like every other girl who's just moved to New York-fun, cheerful, and is always using her gadgets. So, when she slowly realizes that she's become the victim of a stalker who has been watching her on her electronic devices for days, she starts succumbing to paranoia. With no other choice, Emma must find a way to defend herself from a person she can't even see.

The fact that the law and the police will only help you after you've been attacked or probably killed is a major concern for me. They only do something when the damage is done. And lets not forget the crooked officers that partake in crime.

What do you want them to do? Let's say she knows who it is (most females would tell the police it was their ex). So they should just go pick up her ex, right?

The law is very liberal in its willingness to ruin a man's life if their female partner claims she feels "scared" or unsafe. The burden of evidence threshold is laughably thin. Wives are almost automatically granted temp protective order. No evidence required.
My life was destroyed when my (now ex) wife was granted a protective order. If it can happen to me, it can happen to any husband.
I have never been charged with a crime. I have no history of violence; I've never been arrested. I've never threatened her. I never committed any crime relative to domestic abuse. She had no evidence of me committing a crime during our 17 yrs together; 16 yrs living together and 10 yrs of marriage. She accused me of choking her on two occasions and threatening her.
In 4 hours, I went from an upper middle class, college educated, fully employed, homeowner to having ONLY the clothes on my back and whatever was in my car.
Despite my horrible, experience, I understand the need for the courts to err on the side of caution. They really need to at least make an attempt to verify claims or provide some semblance of balance or equality.

I hate how every single time in these movies when the main character feels vulnerable instead of calling the police they call their best friend! like,what is your bestie going to do to protect you?! if you were really and truly suspect that someone dangerous is in your home, call the cops! the cops have guns! your bestie does not.

The ending is rather disappointing. I'd have been fine with a downer ending, so long as it gives us some clue as to who the Hacker is. Instead, we get a couple of possibilities but nothing concrete. My first guess is the Hacker being Nicole, but it could just as easily be a random person not shown on screen.
I actually kinda like that we don't know who the stalker is, to me that's even more scary. There's no resolution, there's no closure, no "Ah i knew it!" moment. To me it's scarier because in real life sometimes people never find out

More often than not, if a person gets hacked to the extent shown in the movie (nearly every device is hacked), then there is a reason the person was targeted. Most of the time, when people are targets of crime, it is someone they know who is targeting them. Take murder as an example, 4/5ths of all murders are done by someone the victim knows.

A good name for this movie would be “What unhealed trauma and a lack of self-esteem can do.” That title is SUPER long but it’s totally believable.
This movie is plain ridicolous. Nothing happens in the entire movie. It's the epithomy of low budget thriller mockumentary wannabee.The only thing i save is the beauty of the actress. There is another good movie with Colin Hanks with the same subject that costed a 10th of this and was lot more effective: "Alone with Her (2006)"

Are the people really so dumb or they just portray as one. First they are so dismissive about weird things happening around them and don't seem bothered until something serious happens. Second, when u finally know u r being hacked, the 1st thing is to find out the hacked gadgets and get them fixed through security personnel. Also, if the cops aren't helpful then there are other ways to get rid of the situation before its too late. Why would u keep calling your best friend (who is also foolish) who doesn't know the seriousness of your situation and advices u against it?

There are so many instances where we ignore little things like these thinking we're just being paranoid and even though we tell other people hearing them confirm that we're just stressed or Overthinking or again being paranoid equals us dismissing and choosing to ignore our intuitions which sadly for some results in stuff like this happening man. the police was supposed to provide her necessary protection though there was no evidence of physical harm or harassment, it is the duty of the police to prevent unlawful things from happening incase of an impending crime.

The hacker should of used AI to mimic the voice of her friends and call with a blocked number. Maybe also used deep fake to create fake videos. Also the hacker should of hacked her router and when her boyfriend or her friend is over at her place they will maybe use her router for wifi. The hacker could then maybe load in a Trojan from the automatic updates of software. From here the hacker can make calls from her friends phone and plant in an AI voice to her. The hacker was probably the IT repair guy that said her laptop was alright.
