Now that is a beautiful exposition of a Tyranid SWARM. I get that we've seen only what developers wanted us to see atm, but even those few scenes feel like they paint a really good picture.
This is such an ideal selection of game and developer. The devs picked the enemy they had the exact engine to do justice to and have realized it exactly. The shot of the Nids crawling up the wall in a wave was utterly perfect.
Same devs as world war z. Their swarm engine is beast in that game and I’m glad they’re the right choice of devs if it deals with a full blown Tyranid invasion.
gotta say, the nids are my favourite thing in 40k to fight against... no nonsensically functional piece of scrap metal, no warp feckery, just you your gun, and a massive amount of monsters trying to eat you, massacre without moral quandary.
Play the old Space Marine. Play Dawn of War I&II. Play Mechanicus. Play Chaos Gate Daemon Hunters. They are few and far between, but there are some notworthy 40k-verse games already.
As a fun fact, Boltgun takes place on the same planet as and makes direct reference to the original Space Marine. SM1 was a blast, and what I'm seeing here gives me a good deal of anticipation for 2. PvP in 1 was quite a good time as well, so here's hoping there's forthcoming news regarding that.
This game looks amazing and the best part that I love about your channel (not a lot of channels do this) is rendering their videos up to 4k, you doing work!
Yeah, I never played the PvP but I loved the campaign, must have played through at least 3 times. I heard the PvP element brought back alot of players.
@@Sammo212 Ironically, we thought the PVP was just a temporary distraction and the horde mode was really the meat and potatoes. Whenever we played pvp we'd do like 20 minutes and be like 'yeah that's enough of that for a few years', but we'd be playing the horde mode every weekend
I hope that one day we get a true third person Warhammer RPG. I like the world and the lore but I have tried to like strategy games but I simply don’t. Baldurs Gate 3 has a great story but I simply can’t get into turn based combat which is 80% of the game and I suck at it. Warhammer is such a vast universe with deep lore so it would lend itself to that genre very well. Maybe once the live action warhammer releases it’ll get more mainstream to the point that an RPG a la witcher 3 or mass effect will actually be warranted for the IP. I’m very confident that the live action adaptation will be one of the better ones since Henry Cavill is a huge Warhammer fan and he’s a producer unlike on witcher so he’ll make sure they stay true to the lore.
Damn, this looks like everything I imagined and hoped for after the reveal trailer. The first game was already an underrated gem for me and I can't wait for more gameplay and news about this and might actually finally get Boltgun to shorten the wait.
I KNEW it looked like World War Z with tyranids!! Turns out it’s the same engine hahaha That’s all you had to say. Haha See you on the battle field, brothers. We’ll make the emperor proud!
comming from someone in a similar spot id recommend you get in to the lore. i have never played or painted any w40k figures, but the lore is really cool and there are a bunch of good videos on yt to get you in to it.
Imagine a universe where good things stopped happening about 15,000 years ago. It's not good vs evil, it's horrific evil vs horrific evil in a swirling shit show of brutality and carnage. Suffering is prayer, your life is worth less than the bullet that ended it, and when you're finally released from the constant, grinding agony of your life, your soul is devoured by literal demons. I love it dearly.
I can only imagine a future where thousands of W40K fans are playing a mmo of sorts in vr. Fighting their wars for hours... Only to sit down, have a good laugh and talk. Like, the more extreme the community, the better the people there are in. It's a wholesome community after all. And memes are amazing 😂❤

Gears of war abandoned that masculine testosterone power fantasy in favour of melodrama in 5 & 6. Seems like this game is going to pick up the baton GoW dropped, and I'm all for it.
Considering the first had pretty good pvp at launch, i think thats more likely than a horde mode, at least im hoping. Horde mode can come in a later update, like it did in the first game.
Very keen for this thanks for the heads up. Disappointed to hear Darktides stil struggling given how much fun I had with mates in Vermintide but will definitely be keeping an eye on this as a future purchase.
This man is the mortal enemy of my bank account. Every time he he makes a review or preview of a game he enjoyed, he hypes me up for the game. Even if I wasn’t really interested in the first place. Another awesome vid man. Thank you
This all looks incredible! I love the feeling of an actual battlefield in the middle of a war against a horde of aliens, the pure scale and number of enemies is really selling this to me, and i can do this in co-op as well? Amazing! i'll definetely be keeping an eye on ths and probably getting it at launch. Because the vast majority of what i'm seeing here is just incredible. I say vast majority because i do have a single criticism which might be a 'me' issue, and its not that big, but during those "gun execution" moments such as in 3:07 , i wasn't understanding why but the fast camera motion was making my eyes lose focus, and i couldn't understand why that was the case until i slowed down and also paused the footage in that moment. When the camera goes into an "execution view" it closes in on the Space Marine and put him and the enemy in a "rule of thirds" picture, with the space marine being in one of the thirds of the screen and the alien enemy in the other third, sometimes the gun is placed on the 'third' and sometimes the gun is the center of the screen. And i think looks great while standing still, but when i think the center of the camera is on the gun or in "nothing", this fast movement and in and out with the enemy not being in the center of the screen was a little jarring to me. Because at least in this video (and the IGN one, which use the same footage, I think), in these little fast moments for some reason my eyes couldn't focus on what to look. So, i think if that "gun execution" transitioned to keep the enemy as a focus in the center of the screen it could look a bit better in motion. Could be the YT compression, could be a me thing, could be a small issue with the camera as well, not sure. Again, most likely a 'me' issue, and this big description makes it sound way more important than i actually think it is, but i still wanted to give a really detailed description of the issue to me so that if the developer consider this important feedback then its very well described here. And that is *if* they consider this an issue, not that it necesssarily is. Thanks for you videos, dude! Really appreciate your point of view in games so its nice to see you covering this, excited for both the game and your review. Have a good one!
Relic set the benchmark, all mechanics and look and feel of this game were all defined by Relic and it was pretty much perfect. All Saber needed to do was to copy paste and improve, then it is easily game of the year for me.
Absolutely ADORED the first game! It nailed the tactile feel of being a half-ton armored badass like so few titles manage to do. Can’t wait for the sequel!
I just jumped into Warhammer, 3 months ago, bought books, and now I paint figures. I even picked up Boltgun. I did not expect to like this table top this much. I ended up purchasing the Leviathan box set, and now I need this game....FOR THE EMPEROR!!!
When I played 40k the army I chose was Tyranids, not so much because I love being a bug boy, but because I loved how cinematic they felt. This game looks exactly like what I always imagined.

I think a better premise for this one would have been to stick Titus in an inquisition kill team. That's a small squad, makes sense for it to be up against the tyranids and would give an excuse for your co-op partners to be from different chapters, I'd love to see a raven guard or salamander or imperial fist partnered up with Titus. It would also give a reason for you to work in parallel with the other Inquisition troops like the sisters and the grey knights.
I played Space Marine 1 on the PS3 and LOVED IT!! platinumed that trophy for sure, didnt know there would be a second. the pvp was super fun REALLY hope it is on Steam will it have split screen?
I've been so hyped for this, and it's only just occurred to me that there may be boss battles, imagine having to take on a hive tyrant or or any of the other big nasty bugs while still getting swarmed!
it's 3rd person, but this is not a cover shooter, more like half shooter, half hack & slash/beat em up. There's no cover system, as you're basically a walking cover pretty much, and if this is anything like the 1st game, melee is not just for last resort unlike in most shooters, as you regain shield/health by executing enemies, encouraging you to play more agressively.
I wish TB was still around to see this. He loved the original game. I'm sure he would be gushing all over this sequel if he was around. I have been waiting for this game for the longest time. When I saw the trailer reveal on The Game Awards, I knew I would be waiting for it on day one. Bugs, glitch, lag, I do not care, I'll play through it.
I love your videos and I don't want to be that guy but I love 40k too much lol. A meltagun is no where near a grenade launcher, but the bolter on the other hand is basically a full auto grenade/rocket launcher
They need to add a horde mode where you can customize your space marine, like different chapters. So maybe a salamander color way, or any other space marines that would help out the ultramarines
My one tiny quibble is, I wish the Batman-esque Detective Vision mode was solely reserved for when Titus has his helmet on. And then you could helmet-off mode that either gives you a damage buff, or maybe just aesthetic blood splatters on the UI, like Fallout's Bloody Mess perk.
A long time ago, in an era called BCG (Before Computer Games), the first Space Marines games were board games played with miniature Space Marines. You went to a Game Store and bought your Marines. There was no such thing as online shopping at that time. Archie and Edith Bunker, from the TV comedy "All in the Family," summed up that time when they sang "Those Were the Days."
We are really coming into one of the biggest release windows of alll time, i do not envy you my friend, but i will however, support every one of these lovely impressions/reviews every damn time!
I don’t really see people talking about how well the Sea of Stars Kickstarter was handled. Not only are they sending off Rom for print after initial patches upon release of feedback to address any bugs and the like, but they also provided a free digital code to all physical backers so they don’t have to wait in the meantime. This is how you get it done.
Man super happy seeing you making this Video. I love when you always talk about so Happy and gushing about 40K stuff. Space Marine 2 looks just so good, i loved the first Game and cant wait to play this one. One of my favourite things in the old one was the scale and size difference and it feels so good that they nailed that on the Second game also.
On the subject of Aesthetics, Space Hulk: Deathwing is up there too. The set pieces really look the part, but I wish they were a bit more interactive. But hey, you are in a walking tank, so that's kind of to be expected. The single player leaves a LOT to be desired, but with friends/random 'humies it's a much better experience. There are also some good mods making their way into Nexus and ModDb for things like improved sound effects and whatnot. That said, I am SO PUMPED for Space Marine 2!
I can’t explain how happy it makes me that this game looks better than expected. Sounds like you have to play patient and smart, Gulliman would be proud
Cant wait! Added to wishlist already! Part 1 was a gem in my eye as it already was what i was expecting for a 40K Space Marine in a game! Squishing grots and Orks from the first mission onward gave a great feeling, especially because it felt 'heavy' and was kinda rewarding. With the fist visuals of part 2 i am sold!

@@INMATEofARKHAMits a Masterpiece in terms of kult-status, but from a objective Videogame perspektive its a mediocre Third Person shooter
Play the old Space Marine. Play Dawn of War I&II. Play Mechanicus. Play Chaos Gate Daemon Hunters. They are few and far between, but there are some notworthy 40k-verse games already.
@@pietsimon that's just an opinion. A bad one too.
40K Mechanicus is pretty cool, especially the music.
Yup. Boltgun is a canon sequel to Space Marine 1, several years later.
Perhaps saber interactive should rename themselves to Power fist interactive or Chain sword interactive
Powersaber Interactive, obvs.

This game looks amazing and the best part that I love about your channel (not a lot of channels do this) is rendering their videos up to 4k, you doing work!
I really hope that PVP is not "less likely" because the PVP was really fun in the original SM and dozens of us still play it to this day :p
I loved it!
Yeah, I never played the PvP but I loved the campaign, must have played through at least 3 times. I heard the PvP element brought back alot of players.
Dreadnaught mode was...it was crazy fun.
@@Drasoini I liked that too! I think the horde mode they added was a little under baked but still really fun.
Finally a double a 40k game that is not RTS or turn based ! The lore and universe is insane !! Salamander son of noctern here
I hope that one day we get a true third person Warhammer RPG.
I absolutely LOVED the campaign in SM1, but the PVP was also soo much fun! This game looks stunning and I'm so pumped for this :D
Looks like a fun time. Sometimes a linear, single player campaign is just fun.
Damn, this looks like everything I imagined and hoped for after the reveal trailer. The first game was already an underrated gem for me and I can't wait for more gameplay and news about this and might actually finally get Boltgun to shorten the wait.
I KNEW it looked like World War Z with tyranids!! Turns out it’s the same engine hahaha
That’s all you had to say. Haha See you on the battle field, brothers. We’ll make the emperor proud!
I've never played a Warhammer game, and I have no idea how the universe is, and based on what I see, I really REALLY want to play this
comming from someone in a similar spot id recommend you get in to the lore. i have never played or painted any w40k figures, but the lore is really cool and there are a bunch of good videos on yt to get you in to it.
@@cousinzeke4888 I didn't know the Warhammer universe happened in New Jersey
Player 1: Burn the heretic.
Player 2: Kill the mutant.
Player 3: Purge the unclean.

All I want is a keep helmet on option... lol
For real, even Ultramarines can't headbutt bullets and tyrannid talons.
I can only imagine a future where thousands of W40K fans are playing a mmo of sorts in vr.

SkillUp: seeing your videos post just makes my day better. Thanks for what you do.
How???
@@originalghoul3738 There's so many ways, but it may have to do with the Australian accent. And the quality of the videos. And the enthusiasm in the presentation.
it looks like Warhammer doing their best modern gen Gears of War take... which is... exactly what I want.
This genuinely looks very much like Gears of War and I am here for it
First thing that came to mind for me as well
Surely gears ripped warhammer off?
Gotta love skill ups reviews on warhammer 40k games, keep up the great work!
Very keen for this thanks for the heads up. Disappointed to hear Darktides stil struggling given how much fun I had with mates in Vermintide but will definitely be keeping an eye on this as a future purchase.
Darktide is going to have a massive update to the class system around october, it might be worth it to look for news of the game by then.
I've switched from V2 to Darktide, i play at least every couple of days and I can't wait for the upcoming updates.
@@China_bot538 Thanks for the heads up guys, will give it another look over October.
"I will now gush for 10 minutes about Space Marine 2. Let's begin."
Please sir, let the gush flow.
This is the first Warhammer game I’ve ever been compelled to play, hearing that it’s pretty damn good makes me more excited to try it out! Cheers!👍🏾
I wonder if we can play as any other chapters besides the ultramarines. Or maybe if we can meet any of the primarchs. Itd be cool
Have a good one!
loved the first Space Marine, despite its flaws. Can't wait for this one!
Relic set the benchmark, all mechanics and look and feel of this game were all defined by Relic and it was pretty much perfect. All Saber needed to do was to copy paste and improve, then it is easily game of the year for me.
Imagine a stealth 40K game....starring the Raven Guard, or the other Officio Assassinorum units.
Get MiMiMi to do another commandos/desperadoes-like, call it a day.
Or the Vindicare Assassins
Purple Orks
Absolutely ADORED the first game! It nailed the tactile feel of being a half-ton armored badass like so few titles manage to do. Can’t wait for the sequel!
I'm so excited about this, glad it seems solid so far!
6:50 That... river of tyranids gave me goosebumps :)
You know they have nailed it when even people who aren't into Spacemarine like me are excited for the game. Copping this day one for sure
I just jumped into Warhammer, 3 months ago, bought books, and now I paint figures. I even picked up Boltgun. I did not expect to like this table top this much. I ended up purchasing the Leviathan box set, and now I need this game....FOR THE EMPEROR!!!
What's your Space Marine chapter?
@@MrUzzynator adeptus custode, but for leviathan it's the Ultramarines

it looks gorgeous. I love the first game and I'm so excited.
When I played 40k the army I chose was Tyranids, not so much because I love being a bug boy, but because I loved how cinematic they felt. This game looks exactly like what I always imagined.
I look forward to playing this game. It looks like so much fun. Fingers crossed the project turns out good.
update 9 months later, we're getting coop story missions AND pvp
Am surprised that you didn’t get a review code for Starfield. Am still looking forward to your impressions on that game.
He and his brother roasted Fallout 76 into pure charcoal, no wonder Bethesda is salty at him. XD
bethesda doesnt like when you roast them for their shitty releases apparently

'So far, Space Marine 2 absolutely rules'
*Such is the Emperor's will.*
8:51 oh man, that is SUCH a Space Marine move lol. This is going to be fantastic.
So hyped! What are the chances this is playable (even 30fps) on steam deck?
Looking at the footage in the video, 0% xD
God I loved the PvP in the first space marine. I also don't expect them to add if but I would be very happy if they did
This looks fantastic!!!
I played Space Marine 1 on the PS3 and LOVED IT!! platinumed that trophy for sure, didnt know there would be a second. the pvp was super fun
REALLY hope it is on Steam
will it have split screen?
I've been so hyped for this, and it's only just occurred to me that there may be boss battles, imagine having to take on a hive tyrant or or any of the other big nasty bugs while still getting swarmed!
I was a huge Gears fan for the first few titles (I sucked at multiplayer, but still loved the games). How does this compare?
it's 3rd person, but this is not a cover shooter, more like half shooter, half hack & slash/beat em up.
There's no cover system, as you're basically a walking cover pretty much, and if this is anything like the 1st game, melee is not just for last resort unlike in most shooters, as you regain shield/health by executing enemies, encouraging you to play more agressively.
The models give me those same feelings, but you’re right, it does look like you need to fight right in their faces.
A Good 40k action game? In this economy?
pray to the god emperor and it might come true!
The multiplayer in Space Marine 1 was incredible. I really hope they just do it again, it was perfect
Really hope it has a loose trinity. An option to play as a Librarian would be great also.
God yes. This and starfield are going to be life. Also: imagine a Warhammer 40k game in the style of Starfield where you play as an Inquisitor... 😈
I hope i get a thunder hammer and a jetpack again. That shit was so much chaotic fun!
As a warhammer fan, this game seems like a dream come true
I think Starship Troopers and the attack on the fort on Planet P is a perfect representation of the tyranids climbing over their dead, etc.
I'm really enjoying the amount of guardsmen we get to fight with. I hope it's not just that level
I want a 40 HOUR campaign goddamnit😭😭 this looks incredible
I don’t really see people talking about how well the Sea of Stars Kickstarter was handled. Not only are they sending off Rom for print after initial patches upon release of feedback to address any bugs and the like, but they also provided a free digital code to all physical backers so they don’t have to wait in the meantime. This is how you get it done.
Please don’t suck!
And for the love of god, DO NOT CANCEL THIS GAME!!! We’ve come so far...
If I remember correctly, space marine 1 had domination like PvP where you could fully customize your space marine didn't it??
Saw some trailers for this game a while back on TikTok of all places. I've recently gotten into Warhammer lore with watching Luetin videos. And now SkillUp brings in an early impressions video. It's been feeling like a really good time to jump into the Warhammer universe
