Hey, I am a 14 year old who has been watching your videos for a while and they have inspired me to do a similar build and just today I bought a Yamaha xs750 special That I am gonna build into a cafe racer I have built bikes before but nothing like this so it is going to be a learning experience but I love the video keep up the good work😀

I used to fear an engine rebuild (or maybe I was too impatient), but now I’m older I love the methodical level headed approach needed for anything like that. My only fear now would be parts availability and or cost!

    • @forthebold

Yes the cost on this rebuild was vast.

If I ever get to interview apprentice candidates for heating/plumbing this would be one of my main questions...'have you ever rebuilt a bike/scooter engine'. Because to me if they have got an interest in this type of thing then that proves they have mechanical aptitude. I am not interested in Gcse's and phd's...its that aptitude that is the real gold. Nice video btw! :) bet they are good solid engines.

    A few quick question:
    1. What year is this Honda?
2.What was all replaced during the rebuild?
    3. Were these parts readily available?
    4. How much did the engine rebuild cost?
    5. How many hours were out into the engine rebuild?
Amazing work, and inspiring content. Thank you for being a teacher and not pretentious like other builders.

Not being a rider, I am curious about the trend in painting the engine....specifically the fins on the cases. Does the paint reduce the ability for the engine to cool off via air flow over the fins?

    • @forthebold

Doesn't alter anything, purely looks, some do polish the fins to possibly allow the ends to cool, but very minimal change
