      Hi Matthew - I use to work on motorcycles 50 years ago when I was young teenager. I recently purchased a 1975 Honda cb550 K1. Do you know if there is a big difference between the 750 and 550 engines?? I would like to purchase your video series and restore the 550, but want to make sure the 750 video series is similar to the 550. If you know I would appreciate your response.
      Thanks,
      John

    Hey all, I bought the 9-hour video and wanted to leave a review. I am just coming over the hill on my cb750 engine build and beginning to put it all back together, starting with the cases. I've reached out and looked for every resource I can, and this is by far the greatest thing I have ever run across. Matt takes time EXPLAINING what he is doing and why. He does something and then will put in the effort to undo his work, just to show it to you again from a different angle. This is now the gold standard of rebuild videos. Hackaweek has a great set of videos, and I would never speak a bad word about a great guy and fellow builder, but this video series is on a whole other level. The video quality, the lighting, I could go on. He has is all chaptered too, like a DVD box set, so finding where to go is super easy. Matt, you are the MAN for putting this out. If anyone is trying to rebuild a cb750, you need three things: A Clymer Manual, Mark Paris' (Hondaman) Book, and this video series. I was not paid to say this. I don't know Matthew and paid the full price. Cheers.

    This is awesome! 25 years ago, someone gave me a '71 CB 750 chopper that had been sitting in his garage for 15 years. I got it running the day I hauled it home. At the time I was a single Dad with two teenage sons. I pushed the CB to the side to work with them on their bikes and cars and trucks. She's pretty rough now, because it spent a couple years outside the shop in the weather. It's a sweet old 70's style chopper that deserves to be back on the road. Your 9 hour video is just what I need to get motivated to working on it again.

    Information is as important as any tool.
    I just bought a 1976 CB750F Super Sport from a friend that will require significant TLC.
    I maintain flight sims for the Army and can tell you that specific and accurate information is an absolute must.
    The quality of these general videos is outstanding, so I bought the set (engine and carbs).
    Even though this is my 10th motorcycle, it is the first Honda CB750 I’ve owned.
    Best to have all the tools (videos are tools) before you start.
    Thanks for taking the time and effort putting this together.

    I totally get it ... I was going to film the rebuild of my 77 F2 ... when I realized how difficult it was to keep all my cameras running, with good angles, good lighting and keeping everything clean. Ha, I scrapped the idea real quick. I only had Saturdays to work on it, and it's taken me about a year. I had to swap out the bottom half of the engine casing because the previous owner had a chain smack that split it. So I had to take apart two of these identical engines. So much work. Sincere question: As I never begin a Motorcycle Rebuild and Precision Restoration to Factory Specs without Buying the Manufacturer's Mechanic's Repair Manual covering the Year, Make, and Model Motorcycle I am doing a complete Motorcycle Rebuild and Restoration.
    My question is this: With the purchase of both of your Upper and Lower engine rebuild videos of the Honda CB750 Engine -- with the manuals you include -- will I still need to go to a Honda Motorcycle Dealer to buy the Manufacturer's Mechanic's Repair Manual for a 1976 Honda CB750 ???
    Other than this -- is there a time limit on your support with this purchase ???
    I ask because although I have accumulated decades of all the appropriate multiple different skills with which I have brought motorcycles back to life -- I do not currently yet have my new Machine Shop / Bike Shop Built so am not able to begin the Rebuild/Restoration until I have the shop in which I can get back that part of my life. I have a 1976 Honda CB750 that whilst it is seriously in need of my experience and skills is most definitely well within my proverbial pay scale level of knowledge and skills. Yet this is also the first time I have had an opportunity to purchase videos of an entire upper and lower engine rebuild and restoration.
    Whilst I do have the knowledge -- as well as the experience and skills -- with which to do the machining -- I place an exceptional value on the things I may learn from your videos of this engine rebuild.
    NOTE: Just a bit about my history as to why I dedicated myself to far more skills than also having dedicated myself to becoming a precision machinist and a precision motorcycle mechanic.
    Before I had become a bike mechanic -- my absolute most severe bike crash: While I was riding a 3-Speed Bicycle -- the Front Brakes DEAD STOPPED the Front Wheel. I was thrown airborne over the handlebars and Head First Directly Into The Road where I suffered -- Brain -- Cervical Neck -- and -- Spinal -- Injuries.
    It was after that high side bike crash that I dedicated myself to becoming a precision motorcycle mechanic. During that process I also became highly skilled in multiple other related skills. All of which has enabled me to Rebuild and Restore Motorcycles To Factory Specs before adding Crash Bars and changing out the factory handlebars to custom tune the riding position.
    I was the recipient of someone who attempted to tell me I should not ride motorcycles because of how dangerous they ere. So -- of course I most definitely refused to stop riding motorcycles. I mean -- it is like -- why would I ever stop doing something I enjoyed as much as riding motorcycles. Where would there ever be any enjoyment of life in doing that ???
    Meanwhile -- should I get to live long enough I would purely love designing and building my next motorcycle from the rubber side on up.

    Oh no, don't use an impact driver on alloy threads, even if the tips are JIS. You can remove these using a friction compound (Screwgrab or grinding paste) and smooth application of torque without stressing the threads.

    • @balmeros272
      @balmeros272 2 года назад

      Been using impact drivers on alloy threads for over 40 years, same as in this video, never had any issues at all.

    • @techo61
      @techo61 2 года назад

      @@balmeros272 Me too, since 1978 (44 years) on aircraft and I've experienced countless occasions where the non specialists may get away with it most often, but on those few times they've been unsuccessful, well I can't describe the damage they've done to the aircraft.
      The argument that something has been done for over 40 years without any issues is no justification to continue. Most people live to much longer than 40 years without a heart attack but that first time is a kicker.

      @@techo61 So your saying "non specialists" have been unsuccessful while working on aircrafts, by non specialists im assuming you mean untrained staff working on aircrafts, very odd, hmmm ! Similarly 44 years is neither justification or indeed verification that youve been correct all those years.
      In any case im here to follow the post and the guys procedures work for me, he has went to the trouble of providing a great video which is clearly very helpful to those of us actuslly working on a cb750.
      Enjoy..

      Troy Buhay actually that was an interesting part. Shows the level of care and detail to disassemble intact.
      I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve seen botch job cowboys who strip the head and then drill and remove the screw - and if they bugger that up too then they need to helicoil the threads.
