Machida-san must be an outstanding instructor at his family dojo.
He probably is but from what I seen it seems like Chinzo Machida is currently the head instructor of their academy. Probably so Lyoto can focus on his MMA career and still have time to do things like this for Karate Combat. The fact that they have an instructors program for Karateka who already have a black belt in a style to start building an association of schools is awesome and I hope to see some Machida Karate students in Karate Combat one day soon.

Lyoto is a a very good Sensei, Ross was a very good student and picked up the techniques very fast. It was a pleasure to watch him explain his techniques.

Why not kick with front leg if it is closer? Why not fake with rear and kick with front? If you can use a rear kick then you could use a front side kick which has more power

Randori is 99% of the time soft! If you want to be able to do Karate till age 90.... If you want to take it stronger do it just once in a while... Full contact competitors have their full contact in the competition.
