Deleted contacts I don't call or don't remember Deleted old screenshot Going through my camera roll, delete pictures I thought were less than perfect Try and only keeps apps I absolutely need (I do have the weatherspoons app) If I'm in the middle of something I won't stop it to answer a phone call (unless they ring twice)
A cool trick I learned awhile ago is to take the picture smile at it and then delete it. I do the same with shopping...put it all in a cart...then delete the cart instead of buying. Because the thrill comes from the shopping, not the owning. It works in many cases actually. Great video Nick, hope you are well.
What a great set of guidelines! The only minor gripe I have is regarding photos, as I'd much rather take a photo and delete it later than not take it and then regret missing out on a cool shot. That said, I'm definitely guilty of having a bunch of random memes, screenshots, duplicate pics, etc. which you've just inspired me to go through and clean up. But I do occasionally find myself scrolling through memory lane and some stuff that's really silly and useless to have on its face still gives me a lot of joy by the memories associated with it. Besides that, the points about giving everything a home and purging regularly are so simple yet insightful, and definitely something I need to implement more as I try to clear out lots of physical and digital clutter from my life.
This video was super helpful! I've been trying to organize my digital world lately. I even dumbed down my smartphone and stopped taking so many photos. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who gains a lot of value from being more minimal digitally. Thanks for the great content!😊
I know a issue I often have is screenshot and memes. I swear they just collect over time. I often screenshot as a quick way to research something in the future. Often times I forget about it. I haven’t found a solution yet,but every six months I just go and delete everything and organize folders. I’m glad years ago I kept my old email for things I know I might receive junk from. My personal email is always clutter free. The hardrives is my biggest challenge. I know they’re reliable now,but I cant trust them, hate that feeling of losing a special memory or travel photos. So I often back things up on two or three hardrives.
I do that too, like categorize my folders by each year 🙌🏿 it’s very good 😊 thank u for helpful tips on that not taking the pic but enjoying the moment ❤
I’m terrible at keeping my digital clutter contained. 😅 I have too many photos, unread emails, bookmarks and open tabs. thanks for the tips! I need to set aside time to tidy up my digital life.
These are some really nice ideas on how to handle Digital clutter. After watching a few of your videos I decided to do the same and now my iPhone only has the essential apps. As far as photos I tend to always save them in a flash drive once I pass 100 photos since I don’t like having too many pictures in my phone and I tend to take a lot.
Excellent video! I'm about to declutter my phone, I searched for this video! 😃 I can definitely relate to these. I'm a photo taker. I have a huge amount of photos, videos, apps on my phone. Just the other day I took a photo of my meal in a restaurant. 🤫 I take photos of concerts, screenshot things I don't have time to read, I make videos on my phone... 128GB almost full of "stuff"!
having enought cloud storage is a major relife, if it's cheap or you just let the last 3 months on it. I really recommend it because i can easly show my friends old memories that would have been saved up on my computer with just a tap.
New here, hi! I've recently been looking into how to reduce my digital footprint. I'm beginnning to feel digitally overwhelmed and the thought of trying to reduce it all has made me avoid it a bit. Thanks for the video.
Awesome tips again, I deffo need to do the email one, main reason is I’m sick of all the junk mails I get. Seriously annoying. Would love to see more of the videos of you skateboarding circa 2010 what you showed here.
I just came back from a short holiday and had to go through a few hundreds photos, half of them were not needed and deleted😂 but I'm happy I capture special moments💛
You know what... LITERALLY everything you said I kinda knew to do but I never really get around to, to lazy or just procrastinate over and just don't do but it's all complete common sense to do. I think I just nneded someone to tell me to do do it. So.... Thank you Nicholas!!!! Really helpful!!!! 🤩
I’ve been using an Apple Watch cellular as kind of a ‘dumb phone’since it’s release, the last 3 months I have owned the Apple Watch Ultra, it’s my essential minimalism tool and freedom from the phone for longer times.
I disagree on the mustache, it looks great man! And F--n A you’ll get those cat pics lmao hilarious dude. Amazing video as always, some really great advice in here!
It is my dream to have only the data I need. Now I have over 20Tb on several drives and it would take years to sort them out. But than again I often go back and find all my stuff from 10, 15, 20 years ago.
This video is very helpful! It also hit me when you said to make a new email address, since the one I'm using right now is a complete mess. Other than that, this video's been very helpful.
I like the way you and the channel are growing, I follow you since the beginning, if I'm not wrong it's been like 2 years ago in pandemic era. 🎉😉I'm from Portugal by the way
Damn I'm in love with your simple minimal videos. Let's make something about water bottles, cigarette packs, socks, crockery, food items and most important minimal skincare routine too.
For photos, I bought a central storage server for the house. All photos you take are automatically uploaded to the server from ALL your phone's and computers. Then simply delete it off your phone weekly. Videos and documents too. The server has 1:N protection for your data if one of the disks fails.
This is first-rate content. A book that mirrors this topic would be a fitting follow-up. "A Life Unplugged: Reclaiming Reality in a Digital Age" by Theodore Blaze
I would only offer the suggestion that a cloud drive could be used to back up each of those two drives. Incase one gets corrupted you have a backup of the drive.
I recently emptied my iphone. I couldn't do it with a cable so I took my pcs ip and made a shared folder. The folder is between my iphone files system and my pc so that's how I took everything out.. My phone needed that I think lol. Although I still open more than 7 tabs on my pc, even though it cannot carry more with 16gb ram and all the other tasks..
Hey Nicholas! Thank you for posting this inspiring video! I was wondering what brand is your tech organizer, I like it very much!!! But I couldn’t open the link in your video info. Could you tell me its name, please? Thank you very much!
Why not save to drives and cloud storages? It's just as easy but the difference is, drives can fail. I mean, they are mechanical. I like doing both. Plus its convenient when i want to access something from my phone, i can just go get it off the cloud instead of getting the computer and plugging in the drive. Definitely a better solution for us lazy folk.
Man, i am slowly getting addicted to your videos. Nice content and your videos are very calm, aesthetic and relaxing. Btw where do you live? Love from India❤️
600 Photos, 82 bookmarks and 7 tabs. Those numbers are so ridiculously low I can't believe it. I have like 15.000 photos on my Phone (propably over 50.000 on my cloub backup) and at the end of a workday I often close way more than 100 Tabs.
Another good video for this kind of topic could be how you organize your music/playlist for various occasion and which subscription you have (if you have one)
How about if you lose the external or it gets stolen? Surely there must be a backup somewhere? Maybe another set of externals if you don't want cloud storage?
I sure hope you have a cloud backup of your external drives, otherwise it's not really a backup but a "loose end": easy to lose, easy to get corrupted, easy to be stolen…
How do you guess handle digital clutter?
Funny thing I don't my data is spread all over the place cuz they are not worth that much 🙂

Keep tabs on stuff I may need within time or pending.
I also use a case and SD card holder

Excellent! It reminds me of the law of paradoxical intent.
Works in the real store too. Put things back before check out.
I just took the screenshot of your comment...😂

Thanks for sharing your process. I found that using Astirna New Tab has helped me keep my digital workspace more organized too.

Question- when you backup your RUclips content- what do you do with the raw footage?
Sometimes keep it in a b roll folder if I feel like it may be useful, other than that I pretty much delete it as soon as the project is over!
