I have been conscious of digital minimalism for a long time, everything digital I have is extremely organised and uniformed. One thing I would recommend to anyone trying to be more conscious of your digital footprint is to make a note with every single website you have an account on, once you have made it go through and delete all the ones you no longer need.

I really like that Matt asks the question "Is this video worth making". Creating content is all about proving value, and that's something I've been trying to work on recently. I always aim to improve my content and provide value, but watching videos by Matt shows you just how much further you can take it. Thanks for being an inspiration as always!
Hey Matt, quick question about storing video files on Google Drive. Do you keep all of your raw and finished video files on google cloud, or do you store them somewhere else, or do you just delete them? I've thought about just putting everything on google cloud but that would mean constantly upgrading to a higher google storage plan. Great video btw!
I'm amazed at the growth of this channel in such a short amount of time. It doesn't feel like long ago when I was watching and this channel only had subscribers in the thousands.

Which ones will improve your life in the long run and which do not?Greetings from Germany.
Loved this video mate, I have a very similar approach to my digital minimalism. Just a quick note to anybody “backing up” content; it is only a backup if you have two copies. Transferring files to an external drive isn’t a backup, it’s just a single copy and thus isn’t actually backed up. I would recommend having two drives, one that is the copy and the other is the backup, ideally kept somewhere away from your property so in case of theft or damage you don’t lose both. A digital backup is also great and can be accessed remotely.
I plan time in my day to work on specific tasks, but almost always end up watching RUclips. It never feels good after and I always wish I did what I set out to do. Expect for when a video from Matt comes out. Matt always makes things better.
Matt, love what you are doing here. I need the motivation to get my shit together all the time. You have helped me tremendously. Many thanks and keep up the fantastic work.
I really need to get rid of my excess computers, because I was kinda 'collecting' ThinkPads and I've now got too many. I can list the ones I use first: I have my "best" ThinkPad, a T440s that i bring with me when I travel. My X220 that I use at home on the couch because of the neat size and the dock which I charge it in. My Yoga S1 that is at my parents' house whenever I visit, so that I don't have to remember bringing a laptop. Also my X201i which is a dedicated music PC in my bar at home. And that's about it. This does not include my two desktops, my main minimalist blacked out "gaming rig" (rarely play games anymore) and my HTPC for my TV. I also have a couple of T420s, couple T61, a T43 and an X301. These are never used and could probably be sold, although the T43 is a novelty being a proper IBM and rare to find. So I might keep that... maybe. help. Oh and also an L440 at work which is my private laptop that I can install custom software on since our corporate ThinkPads are locked down. Working as an automation technician I use a lot of different programming software in the field.
Hello Matt, I'm a fan for like 3 years now, I learnt so much from you so thank you so much ❤ I would like to say that in Islam, minimalism is an essential way to success, in fact, prophet Mohamed PBUH says "The few things that are sufficient and enough are better than what is abundant and distracting". I don’t know much about cameras but I know when something is rad! Love the content, I feel like I’m writing a yelp review. Anyway, not deleting.✌🏽
Don't waste your potential, because potential not acted upon turns into pain and depression. Whenever I make consistent progress with my RUclips channel I feel most fulfilled. Even though I'm just starting and my videos go practically unseen I stay at it. Tom Bilyeu says success is being able to accept yourself when you're by yourself. Taking consistent action will get you there. It's worth it.
As a professional IT guy, officially a Systems Administrator, I would say I'm very interested in seeing how you plan to set up your server in your new office! Definitely not boring!
That ending, lol. Thank you for sharing your tips on digital minimalism and I look forward to you sharing more about this and how you are going to set up an office network of computer. 👍🏻
If you use Facebook, the Social Fixer plugin is a must. You can hide parts of the Facebook page that you don't use. I use it to hide the stories tab, ads, the birthdays and all those eyesores. Essentially my Facebook homepage only contains just the news feed now. But then again, this is Matt's channel. I guess everyone here knows Facebook is cancer anyway. I just use Facebook for the Spongebob memes and for communication with people in college. Edit: i forgot to mention, the best thing about this plugin is removing the 'people you may know' tab which is just god damn creepy
Claude Kristoffer it’s funny, Facebook blew up, and now it’s either Mums who post everything, or people like you, who use it for the reasons Facebook was created in the first place
When I managed pages for school clubs, we used a software that let you post to every social media at once (if wanted, different posts can be made to each one). Really helpful! Keeps you off the actual site but still lets you manage the page.
Hey Matt. I don't have the same organisation, but this definitely helped me rethink the way I use technology today and to trigger some changes. Well done!
Going paperless has been huge for me, I constantly take notes by hand so I bought an iPad Pro + Apple Pencil and it's cut down on my use for notebooks big time. Plus I used to have a 2-3 different colored pens since I preferred to differentiate and highlight specific things in my notes but now with the Apple Pencil I have every color and highlighter that I'll ever need in one pencil. I would highly recommend it to anyone who can afford it, it takes about a week or 2 to get used to, but after that you'll never go back. I've even taken drawing up as a hobby on the iPad since it's such a pleasure to use, it just inspires creativity. I find myself drawing more than I ever have and not just watching Netflix/RUclips like I'm prone to doing on my laptop.
Awesome video! Quick tip on notifications on your Mac: if you don't ever want to receive notification for any app (like myself), instead of disabling it for every single one, you can go to system preferences -> notification -> do not disturb -> and then enable it automatically. I have it set up to enable automatically from 4:01am until 04:00 the next morning (that's the only way I figured out to always keep it on).
Just completed clearing my Mac Mini and MBP and setting up file hierarchies for my business and personal digital life. 4 hours strong with squats and jumping jacks every half an hour. Thanks for the push, Matt.

I don’t know much about cameras but I know when something is rad! Love the content, I feel like I’m writing a yelp review. Anyway, not deleting.✌🏽
Loved the inbox shortcut. Thanks Matt
Andreas Rydell - Vlogs & Self Development not much „consistent progress“ with your channel, hm? What do you think is the problem?
You should definitely contact Linus (LTT) for your file server
This is a good video for me to refer to - what I need and don’t need in my digital life. Clear and simple visuals. Thanks for sharing.
News channels & Many RUclipsrs talk about problem all day. But Only One RUclipsr gives solutions, that's Matt ! 👍
9:25 "Lucid dreaming research"
Guess we know what to except for the next video
*I'm not a big fan of most social media sites so that helps a lot with digital minimalism!*
This compose gmail link is golden! As an productive enthusiast this helped a lot. Thanks!
As a professional IT guy, officially a Systems Administrator, I would say I'm very interested in seeing how you plan to set up your server in your new office! Definitely not boring!
You should consider doing the ASMR thing more often 🤣
Agreed
iBeer free 😂😂 Buddy your Sense of Humor is so underrated
Thank you so much for your links and table of contents and time stamps!!!

It has been almost 2 years since I've been a part of this channel and I feel it's time for us to help Matt call The Rock on his podcast.
Anubhav B you are one hundred percent correct!
That ending, lol. Thank you for sharing your tips on digital minimalism and I look forward to you sharing more about this and how you are going to set up an office network of computer. 👍🏻
The tip to delete shorcuts of things that I (us) do not use within a week is so cool. I am going to try that one.
Claude Kristoffer oooh do they have one for Instagram?
Claude Kristoffer it’s funny, Facebook blew up, and now it’s either Mums who post everything, or people like you, who use it for the reasons Facebook was created in the first place
Claude Kristoffer Any one specifically?
@@jessicasantiago2478 what do you mean?
When I managed pages for school clubs, we used a software that let you post to every social media at once (if wanted, different posts can be made to each one). Really helpful! Keeps you off the actual site but still lets you manage the page.
We want, the server video on RUclips. Team up with Linus tech tips?
Hey Matt. I don't have the same organisation, but this definitely helped me rethink the way I use technology today and to trigger some changes. Well done!
Looking forward to seeing you move into a new office space and would love to see how you build that out and your mentality behind it!
Oh come onnn, I just installed Instagram after detox and now this ugh
2:26 The Office. Man. With. Culture.
I have it set up to enable automatically from 4:01am until 04:00 the next morning (that's the only way I figured out to always keep it on).
iPhone “Ten” S
The video should actually be called "apples favourite consumer"

Just completed clearing my Mac Mini and MBP and setting up file hierarchies for my business and personal digital life. 4 hours strong with squats and jumping jacks every half an hour. Thanks for the push, Matt.
