- A few weekends ago Kate, Koko, myself, my parents, and a few of my friends went camping on the beach on Long Island. We went to Gilgo Beach over Mother’s Day weekend and we had a great weekend. Thanks for watching and happy camping!
Was on gilgo quite a bit last year, cant wait to get back out there in the next few weeks.

Quick question do you need anything else other the 4x4 permit
Thanks! Yeah the permit says the required items on it, shovel, portable toilet, jack board, fishing pole/tackle/nys fishing license per person, there’s a few other things but that’s pretty much it.
We always go there and sore thumb beach

No dogs for a reason (and I love dogs) but next time u should FOLLOW THE RULES of the town they are posted for a reason !!
I pooped on that beach. The dogs are the least of your worries.
My understanding after reading the rules is you’re not allowed to bring dogs, camp, bbq, drink alcohol, have open fire, etc.
Is there something I am missing?
At Gilgo, they really don’t enforce the rules too strictly

Are you allowed to pitch tents on the beach?
No not really, but no one bothered us about the awning room or Gazelle screen room.
The rule is that Tents and portable shelters PROHIBITED sunset to sunrise.
Where do you get pass/permit?
A New York State Parks website, but you have to purchase them over the winter before the season really starts. Here’s the website:

@4X4 HiLo Yes I was and I think it took two weeks to get to my house.
Way to advertise to the world that you dont follow the rules therefore ruining it for the people that go here regularly....rules are meant to be broken, not abused. And especially not advertised.
We had fun, most other groups were doing things similar to us, happy camping
