Does the Scout camper shift in the truck bed much when going offroad or rock crawling?
Yes it does a little bit but it hasn’t been a problem yet.
Dobinson UCA are not uniball. Just saying. Also i dont get why people make this so much harder than it has to be...like removing sway bars, tie rods etc. Just take the brake line bracket loose, takout lca bolt and let it swing free. Coilover will slide down and out. Nice video and im not trying to criticize. Just shed a little light for others. ruclips.net/video/w2ZjivorC-I/видео.htmlfeature=shared
Man tundras are such beasts!
Great review. Thanks very much.
Glad it was helpful!
Hey bud, one more question, or I should say favor. Can you please tell me the model of your cook top? I can't find one like that. I found one similar but says that works with LP and not propane. Obviously yours works with propane.
Yes, it is a Dometic cooktop we got from Panther RV, Dometic™ SMEV PI8022US. pantherrvproducts.com/pi8022us/
I was out there in July and didn't notice any snow in the mountains, but I did in this video. Was it filmed early summer 2024 or is this recent?
This was from June!
I love your modifications! How did you build the lower drawers? Did you use wheels or tracks? Did you have to cut out part of the frame around them
My jackery and Ecoflow randomly shut off when operating my Dometic cfx 45. Anyone else?
We have never had issues with our Jackery but our Goal Zero 1000x does randomly turn off and isn’t reliable.
This was really cool, thanks for sharing. This beach is going on the bucket list.
You’re welcome! It is definitely worth visiting!
Do you ever get to use the awning on your truck camper? I ask this because mine has the same, and I decided to remove it because it's too high to be used for anything. It would actually only be useful if the sun is directly over you. I am hoping to install it lower at one point.
We only used it once, we agree, it’s too much of a burden to put out. We just removed ours a few weeks ago. This spring we will add one lower on the camper.
@@kateandjosh I am planning to use the same, but just lower. I hope I get to see how you do yours.
@@cookiecracker6266 I think we’re going to use an ARB 2000 awning that we used to have on our 4Runner. We also have the enclosed room for it. On the passenger side of the camper, below the window and above the compartments is where we plan to put it.I will make a video about it when we do it. It probably won’t be until spring at this point though.
Great video, Josh and Kate. Looking forward to your next upload! I smashed that thumbs up button on your content. Keep up the fantastic work. The way you captured the beauty of the Petrified Forest and the Grand Canyon was truly remarkable. I'm curious, how do you find the balance between exploring new areas and revisiting favorite spots on such a long road trip?
Love it!
Thanks!!
What r u using to store ur crocs vertically like that?
They are plastic folding shoe holders from Amazon. Laugh Cat 4 Pack Hanging Plastic... www.amazon.com/dp/B07CZY2CCP?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
One of mine favorite SUV
If someone closes your tailgate and you want to get out...
I guess we will be going out of the side window. It hasn’t happened yet.
I bought a set from wheels and feels. The DIY 4Runner kit for $400. What a waste of money that was. Directions didn’t have enough screws for assembling or mounting slides. It’s sitting in back of my truck not bolted down because bolts supplied are wrong thread. Build it yourself save money and time.
I’m really glad we built our own drawer system, it has been great.
Great trip! As a solo female car camper, I love that you listened to your instincts about the sketch site, Kate. Always good to have a backup plan.
Yes! Thank you!
We loved this!!! Definitely need to travel over there one day and film ourselves thank you for sharing your adventure! Got another sub here
I’ll be doing that in about 2 years
How do you get the pass for the beach

@@kateandjosh thank you
I would like to see at least a few small windows up front to let some natural light in.
They do have those as an option now!
What month did you visit banff? Could you share which camp sites you had visited? Were they pretty hard to reserve or was there a lot of availability? Thanks a lot my wife and I are going to visit banff in a month
We went in September right around this time! I don’t remember how far in advance I booked campsites at least a month or two and I remember them being kind of booked but there were still spots. We stayed at redstreak, tunnel mountain I, Lake Louise soft sided, and Wapiti. I wanted to stay at Two Jack campground but it was completely full. We went to all 4 of the national parks in that area- Have a nice trip! It is beautiful there
love your setup. what is your mpg with this setup? without the tent of course
We get 16.5mpg without the tent
Nice video. What roof rack is that ???
Sherpa Crestone roof rack
Bummer that the truck camper gets too hot for Coco, but looks like you're still having a fun solo trip. Think you guys are gonna get an off-grid AC to help with the adventuring?
Yeah we did have a lot of fun! Next summer we want to do another big trip and we will most likely get a Dometic 12v AC unit as well as another battery.
Well the first site is the only one you can drive into there - you are lucky as I’ve never seen it available
We did get lucky!
@@kateandjosh I got lucky today!! Was driving by on my way elsewhere and thought I check to see if available. It is!
@@greenjeannes that’s awesome!
Very nice video! I have a 2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport with the double cab like you have. With the 6’5” bed. I am looking at options for a camper for my wife and I.
Thank you!
Biggest risk here is Walmart sirloin
Hey! I've watched abunch of your videos! I'm local to Ny and have recently starting taking my 4runner camping in the ADK moose river plains ect, do you have any advice on finding other spots? Esspecially with a view/water or something? I understand why people don't share the info but like I just want to camp haha. Thanks!
Thank you! I’ve been wanting to go back to Moose River Plains. Every good camp spot I have found in NY has either been through the iOverlander campsite finder app or this blog/website called Andy Arthur, especially his campsite map. I’ll link to it below. andyarthur.org/kml-maps-ny-primative-dispersed-campsites-and-lean-tos.html
@@kateandjosh That Site is Awesome! Thank you!
Target always puts those 80/20 coleman fuel canisters on clearance in the fall for 2 bucks. Bought 8 last fall !
That’s a good deal!
Native Virginian, wouldn't paddle board the James.
That’s good to know, it didn’t look that inviting!
I don't recall if the stove in your truck camper was already installed by the previous owner. I want to have something like that in mine but I was wondering if it heats up at the bottom? Would you be able to tell me?
We installed it. It's a Dometic brand stove, we purchased it from Polar RV online last year. The bottom of the stove doesn't get hot, we keep spices, silverware and plates underneath the stove.
It would be nice if you could show the showers and the bathrooms like she did with the laundry room because that’s the number one thing people want to see is the bathrooms and showers…
Okay! We sometimes do but forgot to this time, they were nice separate shower rooms, spacious, clean and not outdated.
Hey man great job! I checked out your link for fridge slide as I’m interested in a tilting one also but your link was just for a regular slide.
Thanks. We just used regular drawer slides and a hinge/strap setup for the tilt. It’s just like this setup here: ruclips.net/video/l7sQRONAb_0/видео.htmlsi=84Edz31SnzY8PU1i
Wow lone rock is low when I was there a week ago it Had water going all around it
What fan did you install on the ceiling? Was it difficult?
We installed the 503.1555 00-06200K MaxxFan Ventillation Fan with Smoke Lid and Manual Opening Keypad Control. It wasn’t too hard, cutting through the roof really wasn’t bad. a.co/d/ffKCJkt
Whats the name of the campground you stayed in at fayetteville
It was called The Outpost
Any update on the google map link? Just wondering where to park at the end. Thanks!
Horseshoe Lake is my stomping ground.....I like site 2 because I get great solar there.
What a cute couple enjoying life in the ADK’s. Thanks for sharing
Nice, happy to see you in Virginia! Next time you come, you should try and stay at devil's backbone brewery, the food and beer are great.
Thank you! We will definitely have to check it out
Gilgo is a great spot, have not camped out there yet but have fished it.
Nice setup! What tilting fridge slide did you use? I’m looking to do a single drawer with the fridge on top that tilts down and out.
Thanks. We just used regular drawer slides and a hinge/strap setup for the tilt. It’s just like this setup here: ruclips.net/video/l7sQRONAb_0/видео.htmlsi=84Edz31SnzY8PU1i
What kind of pants are you wearing on the Hurricane hike?
They are Gash Hao hiking pants from Amazon. a.co/d/5RQRivD
I just saw your newer videos and see you have a truck camper....looks great.
Thank you!
We really enjoyed your video. We have a 25' Class C motorhome. It is a 2000 model Ford E 350 that we have remodeled inside, removed and painted over where the old peeling decals were, and my husband has done preventative maintenance such as plugs, coils, new injectors and complete fluid change out. He installed 420 watts of solar. It is the absolute perfect rig. We live in Texas and are currently spending the summer in Newfoundland. We are in our late 60s and strongly perfer it to our old 5th wheel. My advice when you get ready to buy an RV is to go as small as you can be comfortable in. I found your video because we are planning to go to Banff, Jasper, and Yoho National Parks next summer. Best wishes to you both.
That sounds like a nice motorhome! That is a good amount of solar. We have an 180 watt panel and a 300amp hour battery in our truck camper.
I have considered taking the trip to camp in Martha's Vineyard. I just thought it was too much of a pita, having to take a ferry. I may give it a try.
The ferry is pretty easy! It’s not our favorite place we’ve been, but we enjoyed checking it out.
Fun video, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
Awesome video. I've been to Saranac and Grout Pond and I noticed that stump on Grout Pond immediately haha. I was at the same site in 2017 with my highschool buddies. I am trying out Waterbury Reservoir in Vermont this end of July. You can only boat in so I am excited for my first boat in experience
Haha that’s funny, that’s cool that you’ve been to the same spot. Did you go on your trip yet? I’ve also been wanting to checkout that reservoir. If not, have a good trip!
I am actually on my way home now from it. So we stayed at site 7 and the landing for the boat was absolutely atrocious. From blush hill launch to the site with my small electric trolling motor it was a 30 minute trip. A bit too long in our case since we were 5 with an inflatable boat. I would check out the other sites. Site 8 was nicer. The reservoir was nice with slightly murky warm water. The formal campground in the same reservoir was also very nice
Are these sites free or do you need to pay for the site?
They are free!
@@kateandjosh interesting. Im hearing from lots of people that you need to book and reserve? Do you just drive to the park and find a spot to camp and just set up there? Or is there dedicated camp spots that are free?
