@2:35:04 You didn't do what the quest said when you got to the pirate space station. You picked up a mission from the mission agent that had nothing to do with the quest. You failed to buy what the quest wanted as you had no inventory, then when you cleared some you didn't go back and buy what the quest asked for and you were then stuck in the mission you just got. Then @2:37:18 you say you are stuck and the game gives you no clue, but the screen is clearly telling you "Black market goods acquired, return to regulated space to deliver the goods". So many people struggle with these expeditions because they do not read what the screen tells you to do. It's quite frustrating watching people blame the game when they just don't stop and read properly.
ive been thinking about this a lot so i rewatched this segment. And i feel i owe you and other viewers an explanation for what had me so confused because i feel bad for folks being upset watching a stream. i come here to share joy with others, not frustrations, so in the future if im getting frustrated i will try to bear in mind that can in turn cause viewers the same. again im sorry for the unpleasant experience and i have learned a valuable lesson from it. after rewatching the segment, i saw the title of the npc i was supposed to talk to in the first place, but it was after the fact...i had already tried the Bounty Master. Please keep in mind im unfamiliar with pirate stations. i simply went right instead of left, there was no quest marker directing me to any npc, and the only way i would have known would have been to talk to all the npcs in the station until i found the right one. After talking to the Bounty Master i had confirmation from the game at 2:22:40 that i had what i needed as the quest tag "Hot Pursuit" was telling me to return to regulated space to deliver the goods. At this point the game confirmed i had done what was needed for Hot Pursuit and i only had to deliver what i had gotten from the Bounty Master. so i didnt feel there was any reason to keep looking in the station when i had that confirmation. then when i delivered the goods and that didnt clear Hot Pursuit, i went back to the station and found the correct npc, but i kept seeing that 0/120,000 like i did during the first go-round making me think i still had it all wrong, which as you saw took me down many rabbit holes. i didnt mean to blame the game, i simply fell into a trap that you said yourself many gamers seem to fall into. hence my comments about quest markers and the need for more clear guidance. no offence was intended, and i will be more mindful of my comments moving forward in situations like this. but i will say, had there been a quest marker, all would have been well. if the game didnt boo-boo and tell me at 2:22:40 that i had what i needed for Hot Pursuit, i would have kept looking in the space station for the right npc. #HelloGames, if youre reading this, i love you guys for making such a beautiful game. I cant imagine the complexities behind making it even possible. that said, i feel there are unnecessary hardships surrounding this and other expedition questlines. for example, if i need an airless planet, or an ice world with water on it, a quest marker in the galaxy map would be huge, especially if you dont know this hidden knowledge that things like that "may" be in a system along the way during expeditions. quest markers for correct questgivers, and numbers that change when we collect whats needed (and from the right source) would be huge. making sure i dont get quest confirmation when i really didint do it right, that would have been huge. again love the game, and i really, really appreciate the expeditions as they add a really cool feature to the game and the story lines are very exciting and captivating. and the unique rewards that come along with them are really awesome. again thank you for making this such a fun game and i would really appreciate consideration for some of these suggested improvements. reducing or eliminating these potential sticking points for folks would really up the fun and enjoyable experience of the awesomeness that is nms ❤❤❤❤
A tip for expeditions wanting photos, etc on certain planet types: For these you do not ever need to randomly warp round the galaxy hoping to find what is needed. Hello Games always gives you the required set of planets in the galaxies you warp to whilst getting the rendezvous locations. Often the planet type names they specify must exactly match the planet type shown in the map. Usually a 'similar' type of planet will not get a match for an expedition step (eg. Irradiated, Radioactive, Nuclear, Gamma-Intensive, etc. not considered the same for a quest step match although they are).
Hey MikeB. I also noticed that after I took a pic of a freezing planet in the starter system there was a pop up bottom right of the screen that told me what other types of planets were needed. In this case they also wanted 1/1 scorching hot 1/1 airless. I also find it helpful to read through all five phases to see what’s ahead in case I can knock out other phase milestones in the starter system either to get rewards that will speed up progress or to just get them done while it’s easy.
a quest marker would have been AWESOME, but i know i ask too much 😅 (we still need more stamps lol) but yeah thank you for reaching out on this...many lessons learned indeed. i also mention later on that reading ahead to know whats coming...i could have had many of these completed "on the way"
Credit to Jason Plays for finding the airless planet I pointed you to. I had also found a different airless planet by warping 15 times but couldn’t ID its location on the galaxy map so went with Jason’s find. He has a funny meme that said “3 hours later” meaning it took him forever to find the airless planet lol. Learned from this expedition that once you commit you don’t give up. 👏🏻
thank you for crediting him as im a firm believer giving credit where credit is due. just for fun i googled this issue... BROOOOO nuff said 🤣 yeah this one sucked the life out of most the community. thanks again for coming to my rescue. ive NEVER warped that many times and not found rusted metal. in fact in my walkthrough game, i was looking for runaway mold for a couple hours last night (quickly turned into another warp marathon) and i found three THATS 3 cactus flesh systems and two I SAY AGAIN 2 rusted metal planets. most valuable lesson learned during this expedition, same rules dont apply in expedition mode. all is good tho, well get er done better on the next one. im ready!!!
