I went and looked at a general yesterday. I noticed on the deluxe model I was looking at only came with 27” tires and doesn’t have the high clearance a arms. It’s like they made different models within models I definitely want those upgrades
I am not bashing this video or this machine, I think this video is awesome, I had a General, 2018....If it had worked like this one it would still be mine, it was a dud. Crank sensor, fuel relays, fuel pump, clutches, 4 belts, ECU, speed sensor, and more, and it never saw MUD, or got WET, Polaris replaced it all but the year was up and it fried the fuel pump, fuel relays, solenoid, and another crank sensor again and it had to go. No exageration, at this point the General had broke down 40 times, I replaced all the hard parts that were worn and didn't mind as ball joints, brakes, bushings, bearings etc... wear out, Sometimes there is a bad apple in the bag. I have watched video after video and heard countless stories about how good the General is. You were harder on this one in 3 hours then I was on mine the entire time I owned it. I put 5000 miles on it clenching my teeth, unable to do anything in fear it was going to quit and leave me stranded, I never jumped it, I didn't even go in a mud hole,they wouldn't take it back and the trade loss is nuts on a brand new machine, I will say that Jason @ Polaris MN, was good to me but I stopped calling him when the warranty was up. It still is not fixed, it keeps frying stuff and it even caught fire once, I lost a lot on the trade.
This video is AWESOME!!!! I feel like you really showed viewers the capabilities of the General.....we have had ours for 6 months. We may have to push it more after watching this video.

I have a 2017 general 4. Haven't had a single issue. Still does 71 down the trail if I want it to. And other than high centering issues because its a limo it'll crawl just about anything and still haul a seadoo to the boat launch at the end of the day
John Schander I like that it is ready to ride off the showroom floor you don’t have to turn around and upgrade everything immediately. I still want to test out a KRX.
I just spent all afternoon in my brothers new General. His has the extra skid bars on the sides. I had it up to 62 mph and it could have done more. Looked like changing spark plugs, air filter and oil could be done with out going to the dealer. The radio was picking up stations in places I didn't think radio wave went.
This thing is beastly! 😮 I just wished it had a transmission instead of belt drive. Over time and loads it will tell the tale. Beautiful machine very capable.
After that video I'm sure you guys talking about the belt drive should stuff a sandwich in your mouths and shut up because ain't none of you beating your machines like that. 🙄
Have they upgraded the reverse chain system in here? Literally the only thing stopping me from getting one at this point. And I’m not talking about the XP, just the general premium or base model general. Cant seem to find any info

Polaris has been very smart with their line up. Knowing how many people really love RZRs but want a bit more of a bed.. then this thing comes out. Looks like it handled itself just fine, it survived the Matt test!
We have 120" in the Garage of our Cyclone toy hauler these are 118" hope i can fit one of these in 2 seat. Debating between this and a Trail S 1000 which for sure will fit with 9 in to spare

This is a lil beast, don’t think it will win any crawler competitions unless you can add weight to the front end and R/F audio equipment is a nice touch, shame theres nothing like the parks u have over there here in the uk. Grreat vid to by the way

Awesome review. I have a rzr 1000s now and I’m thinking about a general or a rzr xp. Mostly all rocky forest trails where I ride. Some logging roads are the best we have to open them up.

Polaris is Awesome when they are Brand New and Most of these Reviews are when they are New. The Reality is Polaris don’t last and are not built to last. I have owned several Polaris UTV’S and they don’t Hold up in the Real World. Just Compare the Build Quality to other Machines Before You Buy.
Or Just Buy a Yamaha and Enjoy It and Not Have To Upgrade Or Work On It. That's What I Did. Yamaha Stands Behind There Product. The Best Belt and Motor Warranty On The Market Period.

You said this general has the XP 1000 clutch. Is it different than the 2019 clutch? Does it still have the square sliders in the secondary clutch or does it come with rollers?

Unfortunately it still has a weak reverse chain and weak pinion shaft that plagued these units since 2016. 100s of documented failures causing grenaded gearboxes. Polaris dont cover it. Extremely unfortunate because I was really interested in one of these generals but I don't see a point of spending $25,000 on something that if you put it in reverse when backing out a hill or hit the throttle too hard you're going to blow it up
@@BustedKnuckleVideo yep. Lots of companies do. Expenssive and the average person cant and wont do it. Even canam moved over to reverse chains and many are popping on delivery with no help from company. Im dumping my rzr for same reason and jumping to kawi, yami or honda. A potential 4k grenade makes one scared to use their machine as intended. Also, the double teverse chain upgrade companies offers voids your machine warranty. Open up the parts diagram for the polaris transmissions, you will see how it is designed to fail in a few spots.
@@BustedKnuckleVideo turbo got beefed up internals. No chain, too. What I do find interesting is that the general XP does have different gearing which may in fact end up putting less stress on the chain anyways.

I have 2013 rzr. And have only changed air filter and oil. 1 belt Has 4900 hundred. Not easy miles

Any issues with the Turf Mode? I have a buddy that bought one and it went nuts causing trans damage. Just curious.
Redneck Fantasy Factory we tried it out and it seemed to work fine.
They replaced the planetary turf pack in mid 2018 with a proper truck style rear turf. But still has weak pinion and bicycle sized reverse chain.

Needs to be about a foot longer. Wheelbase is too short and needs more cargo space in the bed to be a real "utility" vehicle.

Unfortunately it still has a weak reverse chain and weak pinion shaft that plagued these units since 2016. 100s of documented failures causing grenaded gearboxes. Polaris dont cover it. Extremely unfortunate because I was really interested in one of these generals but I don't see a point of spending $25,000 on something that if you put it in reverse when backing out a hill or hit the throttle too hard you're going to blow it up
I'm sure if that is still a weak link that an aftermarket company like Turner Cycles probably has a fix for it.
@@BustedKnuckleVideo yep. Lots of companies do. Expenssive and the average person cant and wont do it. Even canam moved over to reverse chains and many are popping on delivery with no help from company. Im dumping my rzr for same reason and jumping to kawi, yami or honda. A potential 4k grenade makes one scared to use their machine as intended. Also, the double teverse chain upgrade companies offers voids your machine warranty. Open up the parts diagram for the polaris transmissions, you will see how it is designed to fail in a few spots.
I've raced for years and only blew out the high range gears once in my Turbo RZR on Stage 3 tune and 32s...
@@BustedKnuckleVideo turbo got beefed up internals. No chain, too. What I do find interesting is that the general XP does have different gearing which may in fact end up putting less stress on the chain anyways.
