I like the side by side reviews. Ryan, I’d love to see you push this thing off road. Something intense to really test the limits on what it can do. Thanks for making all these videos. Best car review channel on RUclips!
Spent a little over 41k with a few added accessories, but like he said, if I break it I can still go to work. Love my ‘22 Deneal xp4 1000 trail head edition.
That thing is...Sweeet!! 14 inches of travel, 13 plus, inches of ground clearance! Oh and 100HP! Its literally, like a mini trophy truck. (No pit crew required!) I've seen some models. Closer to 60K! 36k isn't bad considering its a 1000cc. General XP, with all the bells an whistles. Its still a lot of money! Most people, I see in my area. With UTV's/ ATV's etc.. Modify and customize, lesser spec machines. Into what they can afford, the aftermarket industry, is packed full of accessories. These things are like "Lego's" Its really fun to build your own version. It absolutely turn's into a competition with your buddy's.
We’d love to have a side by side, but we need a dump bed for work around our property. To make it street legal, you’ll need a windshield, a wiper and an inside outside rear view mirrors.
I don't understand the pricing. You can a base Bronco Sasquatch for the same price essentially. Aside from weight and size, what advantage does this truly have?
@@drivingsports I wrote, “ it should be an option “, NOT a requirement. ( hopefully it’s not the case of, famous last words being “ not fast enough “ ).
If you want to go fast off-road a side x side is better. Out in Las Vegas we always get stuck behind slow Jeeps and have to wait for them to get out of the way.
A Polaris salesman explained that their SxS is a 1000cc parallel twin with a CVT, and I replied (since I come from a motorcycle background) "Oh, so the drivetrain is basically a huge scooter." You could tell he didn't really want to agree with me, but also couldn't argue it isn't.
@@JCintheBCC A friend of mine has a Polaris SxS and he loves it, but he told me that he has to change the CVT fluid every 500 miles, which doesn’t take too long in our area because people use their SxS like cars and drive them often. My friend also uses his to plow his parking lot.
@@SinCityDetail A geared transmission will last longer and you don’t have to change the fluid as often. We don’t want a SxS to have fun, we need one with a dump bed , 2 seater for work around our property and to plow our driveway as we get 5-7 feet of snow every winter
You mentioned the Crosstrek not having a forward camera but I live in Australia (American living here) and I bought the 2024 Crosstrek 2.0S, which is the highest trim, and it has a full 360 camera where I can use the front facing camera to park and turn on while driving. It's great!
Nice review! You mentioned the lack of front camera in the CrossTrek in your review here. Subaru does actually have a front camera on their '24 CrossTrek's. Even a 360. But not for us lowly North Americans. It's in the CrossTrek for the Japanese and Australian markets. I take it as a snub and a downright insult. It's bad enough that they don't even include TPMS for the Canadian market.
I can confirm this. I'm American, but live in Australia now, and I recently bought the 2024 Crosstrek 2.0S and have a full 360 degree camera setup where I can use the front camera to park and I can turn it on while driving. It's great!
@@Skynx72 It's insulting that Subaru does this kind of crap. In Canada, we don't even get TPMS, whereas in the US it's standard. Subaru's 'Global platform' is nothing but a buzzword.
Quite the machine but quite the price as well. Do most people buying a SxS go for something like this or are there less expensive options that still have decent performance?
There is no need to switch AWD off on a Polaris unless you just don’t want it. The front tires aren’t powered until the rear slips. Until then it’s purely RWD. You can really feel the AWD kick in if you have one without power steering.
I will pass on a side by side that bangs close to $40,000. That is jackass crazy. A small 4X4 truck or SUV will suit me just fine. I also don't care to sit out in the weather - rain, wind, snow, etc., while hunting. Next comes a truck and trailer to haul the side by side to your favorite spot. Bottom line NO THANKS!! You might consider a helmet and goggles to protect your bean and eyes.
It's easier on the drive train if you leave it in AWD. Also you should always wear a helmet when riding. Things can happen quickly when you're going fast.
I don't consider a cheap pickup 30-40k. Unrealistic vehicle choice for 65% of the planet based on income. 35-45k for a weekend dirt toy is pretty out there. (I was a salesman and motocross racer at Honda, yamaha, polaris and can-am) dealerships.
@drivingsports I know that's because of covid and out of control inflation. Before 2020 people could get new trucks 30-35k. A cheap truck in the real world is/was a pre-owned with 30-40k miles. Let's be real, a cheap and affordable vehicle for many millions of folks is 15-25k. The vehicle market 2021 to now is a literally a joke plus high leasing and finance rates. Not many people pay 45-50k cash purchase. Sure, some have lots of money but most people watching YT videos are lower to middle class wage earners. I would allow myself to buy a 55-65k truck with $800-900 a month payment. Thanks for responding! Content creators should make an effort to corresponding with comments and subscribers.
@drivingsports Also for reference that I'm not just a negative nay-sayer, l financed a new car 2011, financed another new car 2012, then financed a new truck 2016, then leased a new truck 2018 and then leased a 2019 luxury brand vehicle. Would have bought leased again in 2022 but the vehicle market value flipped upside down where people actually paying 10-20k more than MSRP.
I find it interesting that those tires are so small and its so tall. at any time did it feel like it would tip over? I run rc crawler rigs and that is our bane.
OK. Even though Ryan has catalogued a kabillion videos and has tested 4x4s and many others, even after ALL these years of following him, the one thing, the one thing that does indeed separate him from the rest of the pack is... I would have never guessed one of those cost nearly $40,000.
The fast ones can easily hit $60-$100k

The 2-seater General XP starts around $25k. So unless you need a 4 seater with all the bells and whistles, you don't need to spend $40k.

I think one should have the option of fitting full harnesses, travelling at speed over unknown rough terrain, can be fraught with danger .
The General, being more of a work UTV, isn’t fast enough to warrant harnesses.
@@drivingsports I wrote, “ it should be an option “, NOT a requirement. ( hopefully it’s not the case of, famous last words being “ not fast enough “ ).
Harnesses suck
$40k plus the cost of your trailer and towing setup to get this thing where you want it.
We just rented a U-Haul car trailer when we moved it around.

Getting a base model with two seats is pretty reasonable if it’s going to be used. Mid-20s can be done.

Sucks most SxS owners are obnoxious and ruin off-road trails. I saw too many people are blaming them for Moab closing down trails.
Absolutely crazy that Polaris still isn’t putting real parking brakes in these. If you park on an incline it can be hard to pull these out of park.
