I think the lower trims of the 11th gen still come with 17s. honestly if i got a touring like this id rather just rock a pair of 17s for the better mpg and ride, an accord doesnt need 19s

The low-profile 19s they use on the Accord have only a 40,000-mile max tread life. I'd be replacing them every 18 months with how many miles I put on a car in a year. Would be nice to have an option for 18s with tires that are not low profile and have at least a 60,000-mile tread life warranty, like what are on the CR-V Sport Touring.

Stop only looking at startup costs for a car to compare $. Consider cost to repair, and how often you have to repair. Over a 10 year span the cost of ownership generally with BMW's is much higher. Reliability with BMW's is also hit or miss. They can be great, but if something breaks it always costs more. Like checking account destroying "holy shit I don't have $4000 to repair" more.
If you look up the average cost to repair of BMW vs. the industry average, on average per a 2022 study, BMW's are around 30-35% more expensive to maintain. $968 vs. $652/year to repair.

    • @joespittle1
      @joespittle1 Год назад +2

Yes BMWs can be unreliable but the more modern ones are very much a case of you look after it and it will look after you. Yes, a Lexus will provide more stress-free motoring but you might as well have just bought a new Camry. Besides, the point of my comment was to explore alternatives for the 35-40k range, not to have a bunch of people going on and on about BMW reliability.

Perfect daily driver as a compliment to a "fun car" like your CTR or whatever else. Taking delivery of my sport-l in a couple days. Was between this and bolt euv, (also have my name on an euv) but the ability to never be concerned with road tripping range, and honda's great "feel" and quality - has pushed me into likely going for the accord. As someone who previously owned a rav4 prime as a daily appliance, the crv hybrid I drove a couple weeks ago blew me away - unbelievable how smooth honda has made this drivetrain, and how GREAT their inputs are. Love watching your reviews tedward - we tend to think alike and its very helpful to hear your opinions.
edit: Saw "my car" in person at the dealer today - silver sport-l - is straight up police interceptor. Its so bad I can't unsee it and don't think I'll take delivery. Saw a touring model also - the silver fog light type accent in the bumper makes the bumper look deeper (taller), and combined with the touring wheels - just looks oddly so much better. I can't believe how weird the sport-l looks in person. What a let down.

I will say this: As a Honda enjoyer, If Toyota still has their Camry TRD 300hp V6 models, then I’m never going to look back at the pitiful 192hp 1.5T Accord and this 206hp hybrid. I loved the older 278hp 2017 V6 Honda Accord’s and even the 252hp 2018 2.0T Accords that used to win drag races against Ecoboom Mustangs; but if this pitiful 192hp is all they got that’s not a hybrid, then I am no longer on the market for an Accord, and the Accord is dead to me.
I understand that not enough people bought these higher hp products, but it’s just sad to see the performance options of V6, V8, and 2.0T disappearing.

The hybrid system on the new Accord is so much different than all the others out there. It works more like they chevy volt than anything. With the gas engine simply being a generator for the electric motor. The noises and shifts are all faked with pumped in audio and the motor simulating power loss during "shifts." The gas engine does not have any gears but can power the front wheels directly at highway cruising speed for more efficiency. probably only turning at about 2k rpm though. So don't expect it to help with acceleration. I just think how it works is interesting.

Furthermore, my copy, which I believe was abused by the former owner, had its engine fail at 80K, so I wasn’t very impressed. I’ll give them another chance, maybe, when I’m done with my BMW 128i coupe (6-speed, no iDrive, 18” wheels, leather and metallic paint, nothing else), which in 5 years and 50K miles, has been cheaper than any hot Honda would be… The Honda might be the better car, in the final analysis, but the BMW is without a doubt, beautiful.

My 2014 EX-L V6 has a better sound to the door and the interior has better materials even the back door has leather on the top portion of the panel and rear air-vents. Honda has cheapen up on materials just to follow the market. Honestly from hearing what others are saying they wanted to bring the car up market however, they missed the mark for me. Honda needs to go back to the 9th gen especially the EX-L and Touring trims to remind them what upmarket is like and how the Accord should be.

I get that they have to round out their emissions quota for the lineup due to federal regs, and cars are selling poorly so of course the Accord is chosen to suffer, but if you live in the hills this is not enough balls. It's just adequate. Imagine how this thing accelerates fully laden with 4 fat Americans and a trunk full of gear - probably scary as hell if you have to pass in the mountains. It's just gonna push people to their SUVs. It's a shame because I do like everything else about it.

I think it’s a great looking car. A lot of people are upset about no 2.0t, which I agree is a loss. However, for most people who buy the hybrid and 1.5t this a big improvement to me, especially the interior which is beautiful. But then I also own a new Civic Si so I’m biased on the new styling direction.

24' Accord Hybrid Sport (base trim) owner here...
Hybrids aren't great for highway fuel efficiency. You are almost better getting a gas powered car for the MPG's. Plus, weather and HVAC has a HUGE play in mpg just like every car. But here are my own stats... 20 mile commute one way, 19.25 miles highway, .75miles city.
65mph, stop and go for about 10 miles... 52.3mpg. (this surprised me)
70mph, no traffic in the morning... 42.4mpg
      75mph, no traffic... 40.1mpg.
Mind you my commute isn't just flat highway. Has more incline rather than decline. My accord is rated 44 highway, 41 city.
To note as well... Putting it in cruise and letting the car drive itself is the BEST fuel MPG results. I personally noticed a crazy difference.... 6mpg difference leaving it in cruise rather than 'feathering' the throttle.
