As a teen in the 1980s I learned several things from watching American horror movies. One, is that it's not safe to go to a summer camp in America, especially if it has a lake. Another is that it's only adults that go to those summer camps.

The white dress Amy/Amanda Bearse wore when she was a vampire really aged her up tbh, she looked her age instead of a teen lol

Great video! I watch alot of old movies and I can honestly say that in the 80s they got better at casting teenagers. I've seen movies, not necessarily all of them horror, that the "teenagers" didn't look a day under 40.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who questioned the actors' ages in fright night, even as a little kid, I KNEW they looked way too old to be high schoolers, I thought Amy and Charley were 25 year-old college students tbh..

I was (and still kinda am even tho at 44 it's embarrassing to admit) EXTREMELY TERRIFIED by ALLLLLL of these movies when I'd see them in passing at the video store.n I just remember walking by all of them whenever I was looking for whatever wholesome funny movie me and my parents were on the prowl for and being terrified.. almost to the point that I believed all of it was real.
80s horror movies are a genre that spooked me so bad as a kid.. that it hasn't been until recently (my early 40s) that I've been able to come to terms with actually giving them a watch to FINALLY GET OVER AND CONQUER MY FEAR OF THEM
Cuz it wasn't just the 80s but I think those movies with ALLLL the practical effects and ROBOTICS...with NO CORNY CGI that made me look at them as real entities that existed in this world... That made me have an existential fear of the horror genre as a whole all throughout my life.
So like I said now that I'm clearly at a age to know that All of this is make believe and ART...I went back and pretty much either watched all these cult classic horror movies id pass as a child in the video store...and others in later years to see what these movies were actually like and SHEEESSSSHHH.. the amount of work and commitment the prosthetics... make up and robotics actually took was commendable... and something I greatly admired . And even some of the stories and fleshed out (no pun) characters ARE ACTUALLY GREAT TOO.
It's kinda crazy I missed out on all these great movies over the past 4 decades due to this fear I had... nowadays I'm way more inclined to watch a horror movie even tho I do still have a healthy fear of them.. i can now appreciate the art. Speaking of that THIS VAMPIRE I DISTINGUISHLY
REMEMBER at 0:17 is from fright night I think right ?
God...I remember that vampire specifically. That face freaked me out

Thanks friend, I appreciate this a lot as this was my first video and the one I actually invested the most time into (and even did the voice myself, which I probably wouldn't do another time)🤓

Kids could only work a certain amount of hours and certainly not at night. It was much cheaper to use adults.

Good point, but anything 18+ would have sufficed for a teen
