I have white pigeon feathers
Thanks for this video
The word you are looking for is Quill... the hard bit within a feather. As in Duck Down.. Down doesn't have the hard quill in the feather. So Down is soft.
Thank you! 💗
Super cool 🥰
I have a pen that’s similar to those watercolor pens but it’s prefilled with water-based black ink. Will that work or will it come out dull/gray instead of black? It doesn’t have to be *jet* black, as long as it looks black. Also, what kind of brush are you using? Would a soft hairbrush like a baby brush or a nail scrubbing brush work?
So have they ever bled when wet or rubbed off onto anything? Looking to do this for a feather skirt but don’t want to color to rub off on my arms
Hi Sarah - will the colours bleed if they get wet?
Emiley Johnson I don’t know if the colors run when they get wet. I can do a test but we are out of town for a couple of weeks.
If you try it before then, please let me know!
Will this work on really feathers? I have a lot of duck feather from my family members who owns ducks and I want to use it for a cosplay.
Sorry, just seeing this now. I have no idea on if it will on duck feathers - I'd give one a try to see.
@@SarahNenniDaherno need. I tested it and i can say, it works but you haf to jus watered down acrilic paint.

How do u make the color not bleed off?? Or come off if became wet?
This method for coloring it wouldn't be permanent. I believe the only way you could make them permanent would be dye, but I haven't tested it.
Does it stain hands after drying?
No, it's completely dry and color fast once it's brushed out. We haven't gotten them wet, however, I wouldn't expect the color to stay if that were to happen.
What is that paint?
I painted with fabric and it's all sticking together. Any suggestion on how to make it fluffy again? Please help
It will stick together, as I mentioned. Wait for them to dry and brush them out - they'll be fluffy like you see in the pictures. :)
@@SarahNenniDaher Noo.. I've tried that, but it's not working.
@@tebawihi5 I'm sorry, this method has worked for years on the craft feathers I've used. Could it be you used different paint or paint with a lot of thickness?
@@SarahNenniDaher maybe the fabric I've used is too thick.
Super
Does it work with acrylic paint dissolved on water? I need them to be water proof
Acrylic paints on feathers will produce a very stiff feather. You could try diluting the acrylic paint, but I have no experience with that.
Hi Sarah! What if you want dyed feathers but not fluffy? Any suggestions? X
I'm not sure what you mean. This dye method will make the feather stick together and look like a wet bird. :)
If you want dyed feathers but not fluffy, you might try a VERY stiff feather. They are available at craft stores (usually quite large and come in 3-packs).
But I honestly don't know if they will take the watercolor the same way. I haven't tested it.
Let me know what you find out!
@@SarahNenniDaher Thanks I will!
