I want to tell you Bobby that I have been deer hunting/ quail dove & pheasant hunting a lot. Watching your pigeon hunting videos makes me really want to try it. Looks like a bunch of fun……

At the beginning of every hunt, you should show what gun you are using and for what reason. Could be informative to alot of people
In Mississippi, I believe that field would be legal to hunt as it is considered a normal agricultural practice. Might have to wait 10 days first but we only get in trouble when it is an obviously non agricultural practice like bush hogging a cornfield without running a combine through it first. One other thing Bob, I’ve been a fan of your channel for a long time, but Fred is breaking too much. Yes it is early in the season but everytime you tell him good boy after he breaks and brings back a bird is just reinforcing that bad behavior. When my dog was breaking I would stop her and make her come back and not let her go until I sent her and it fixed that issue fairly quickly. Without even having to bring out the E-collar. You may have to put the gun down for a while and just focusing on handling your dog but it will be worth it in the long run. Fred is still young and trainable so don’t wait too long! Can't wait to watch the rest of your season!
It is legal I live in Mississippi as well and him corn and sunflower fields if there considered farm land because it's like pest control from what I've been told but privately on my property I use sunflowers

Bobby I like Fred and the dog work but with the breaking and that amount of birds it’s time to sit the gun down and work the dog I have to deal with that myself it’s hard to do but that’s best thing to do cus shooting that much gets a dog worked up I know it does mine for sure and the mossburg 410 how did that do I want one for me and my son

Ate you guys eating the birds . They are a delicacy in many countries and literally taste amazing. Amazing hunt guys and sure would be s great guided hunt .
Bobby it is not against the law to hunt that field it is a normal agricultural practice therefore it is not baiting. It would be baiting if it was spread with intent to draw birds it would be but it is a normal ag practice its no different than hunting a cut corn field right after harvest
You can purposely Throw bait out for pigeons. It doesn’t matter. They are unregulated birds. At least in my area.
Ps I just got to the part where he said he wouldn’t hunt geese or ducks. I now see what you are saying. I agree. If the farmer puts something on the feild or spills anything it is not considered baiting. It is agriculture.
I love how excited you get during this lol . My opener early goose was a bust but I've been told the birds have returned today to one of my spots lol.
Wish I was an expert on dog training just like some of you on this page. I have had a handful of labs in my 50 years of waterfowl hunting. My best hunting dog was my buddy also. I allowed, when the hunt was not serious liberties to him. Give Bobby a break like he gave Fred a break....nut said.

@@dustinpeters7915 no doubt it was the dogs fault because it kept breaking but it wasn’t his dog so he couldn’t do anything about it… well this time it was his dog and he kept allowing it to break and didn’t do anything to stop it

Sorghum is any number of grasses related to the millet family.It's used in livestock feed and also processed for human consumption (ground into flour and many other uses). Sorghum meal is just ground sorghum.

Not every day that I enjoy a nice hunt like this but about your dog, doing alot of work and maybe fit like a double baskets rig and a safety helmet so it can keep up with all the birds falling down. :) Must have sleep pretty good that night. :)

Sorghum mill is the machine that crushes cane of the sorghum plant. It's what's left over during the process of making molasses. So you should be looking for crushed long stalks or fibers or shortened cut pieces of crushed stalks.
I think you mean Milled Sorghum. You should be looking for crushed Sorghum grain, husk, and a flour like substance.

@@willtyson1116 Hey Will. I am by no means a hater but @okie outdoors has a point.. Bob specifically said his dog was not the dog breaking in the Dakota hunts and that if fred was breaking he would quit hunting and hold fred back to help with his breaking. And then in this video.( the perfect place to work with fred on breaking) he just lets him break every single time.
It’s been obvious from the beginning he doesn’t train his dogs well, or keep up on training.

Question: if the farmer put out the sorghum meal as a normal agriculture practice for fertilizer is it not legal to hunt doves over also? That is the way I understand the laws on baiting.

Hi bob. It may be different laws where you are but we can hunt that feild for ducks and geese. If the farmer spreads it it’s fair game. They could even turn the auger on the combine and put a pile on the ground and you could still hunt it legally.

I'm sure others have commented, but how I read the baiting rules, that is a normal farming practice to enhance the crop. There may be a fine line there and I'm with you, better safe than sorry. But I don't think this case would be considered baited.

Pattern your gun with IC and Mod…maybe IM if you have one. Choose the best pattern. All things equal, I normally hunt with a mod choke for dove to give me a little more range

14:10 mark when Fred comes back after you call him you can tell he is afraid of you. Hesitant to come into the blind, tail low, very close to the ground. Not sure what you’re doing but if the dog isn’t comfortable coming back to you then it’s obviously wrong….

@@semissouri22 LOL Fred is the most calm, loving, family dog you could ever imagine and ever pray for. He got him when he was over six months old. He is a family dog above all. He lays there as kids wrestle on him, he sleeps next to our bed every single night, he sits in my front seat to drop kids off at school if he’s not hunting. He is the most loved and spoiled dog. He aims to please bobby every second of every day. You are completely misspoken here and I will be damned if someone is going to jump on here and say Fred has a broken spirit. He is my child and you can kindly GTFO with these comments.

I understand the dog has to learn but he hunches down when he comes to you can tell he’s scared of you kinda messed up ik he has to learn I have a dog myself just thought you would be a little better very disappointed
He is hunched over because he knows he isn't listening to Bob. Dogs are super intelligent and know when they are being bad. I have never abused my dogs but if one of them does something bad like chewing on a shoe they will look down and act guilty when I approach them.

he used a mossberg sa-410 and it looks like he was possibly using federals. I tried to go off the box but couldn't see much

Quick question with Fred! Not trying to be rude or anything! But have you ever tried right before you shoot saying “stay Fred”? It has helped my dog with breaking just right give that general reminder I know you expect him to stay but a little reminder helps out a bunch in my eyes! 🤷♂️ an it has helped out a bunch with my dog just a thought to help! I know I don’t know as much as you but I could tell you were getting frustrated!
