Top job on the video again, I love these old carriages. Can you Imagine the workforce needed to first build them and than maintain then, how many people the railways employed, and now they even are struggling to keep the guard on bord… The mahogany alone is worth almost its wait in gold now these days, thank God these beauties are preserved. Anyway right up my alley, my intrest is around 1900 right up to the pioneering days, really would like to see more of those in model. Definitely must vist the museum in the future, thanks for giving us a quick tour…
Memories of comfort on trains. Seats that you could sit on without getting a numb bottom after 15 minutes. Lol . Obviously southern region was not good enough, no teak . Lol . Great video.
Hey, Oldham got a mention! (Where I grew up) Those coaches are so lovely it's great that they've been restored. Thanks for letting me experience this from the other side of the world
Compartment carriage are nice. They're like traveling in a private luxury car. Obviously you don't have to worry about getting disturb by unruly passengers
Hi Alfonso, everybody loves these old compartment carriages don't they. Whenever we go to heritage railways we always choose to travel in these if we can. Cheers for watching Rick
Love seeing inside these coaches . Love compartment stock . We used to have Swindon 126 units going through Paisley to Glasgow . The centre coach was a corridor composite , although all second class by the time I travelled . Always tried to get into one of these compartments and pretend going on long distance , even though Glasgow just 10 mins away . That’s why I’m a wee bit disappointed in preserved railways . Even if they are Mk1s they tend to be open stock . Probably easier for them , much prefer compartments . I think the last time I had a compartment was on NYMR
Very interesting place Rick. I like it, may have to pay it a visit soon... Not long got back from Port Sunlight, some good bargains found too. All the best, Steve.
Hi Steve, it's at Ingrow station on the KWVR so best to combine a visit with a train journey although you can just visit the carriages trust and the Bahamas Loco Society next door. All the best Rick
