  • In this episode of Doug Reacts, Pastor Doug Wilson responds to a video from Abraham Piper in which he says that he doesn't mind if his cosmology doesn't make sense, he just wants to be able to tolerate it. Fundamentalism, however, is intolerable.

      Incoherence is the native dialectic of the modern day militant atheist. They espouse so many "big" words and words that most outside having a PhD in english have never heard. They try to squeeze all of these into a quick video and it comes across as gibberish because thats what it is. He uses 3 minutes to say 10 seconds worth of material. He hates his Creator. He knows Him intimately, but loves his sin far more. We all were there. He should be ashamed to bring this much embarrassment and shame to his family. He always talks about morals and right and wrong, but its always other people and never his own sin. Dishonoring parents is a capital crime, but to him its just liberal expression.

    This series is somehow meaningful to me, as it reminds me of that one moment in a certain conference where John Piper attempts to rebuke Wilson publicly concerning his approach against opponents of the faith. Mr. Piper scolded him for using sarcasm and blunt speech, claiming it was unnecessary and dangerous. But now, apparently, his son ends up an apostate God-hater. And here is Doug making an effort to respond to his atheist son's videos, using his wit which Piper opposed.

    • @einarabelc5
      @einarabelc5 2 года назад

      Almost, it's actually the conscience response to these things that make us uncomfortable that pricks and crushes. Our awareness picks up on it.
      The Christian definition of conscience, not the "awareness" of the new age postmodernism based on Eastern buffets of philosophies is that,
      God wrote the book of Law in every man's heart so we should follow it. Original Sin is that we all tend to ignore our conscience.
      Don't confuse consciences with awareness, which detects when the conscience is alerting you that something's wrong.
      Eastern Philosophies are designed to make you think you can convince yourself to learn to ignore your conscience through "enlightment" until you become "nothing" as part of the universal "consciousness", but then why does the Dalai Lama weeps for the liberation of Tibet? Is rubbish. For more details, check Melissa Dougherty's channel.

    • @boshman78
      @boshman78 2 года назад

      I liken atheists to people who stub their toes on a rock and then get mad at the rock. They deny God is alive, deny He has agency of any kind, then contradict themselves by emotionally reacting to something that has no agency or reality in their minds. If He ain't real, why so mad?

    • @tatie7604
      @tatie7604 2 месяца назад

      He is obviously angry at his parents. They didn't care for him when he broke a bone. Said it was a sprain when it wasn't. That doesn't work for him.
      He doesn't trust his parents. If you listen to him, he tells you the reasons he is hurt and angry.
      It isn't God He hates-- he mistrusts his imperfect parents who didn't care enough for him when he experienced harm. Neither did his siblings. He needed medical attention and didn't get it soon enough for him.
      Perhaps, no one said they were sorry for this. Or, even if they did, he has no confidence in their judgement. It makes no sense to him. He can only conclude that no one in his family cared enough to get him checked out by a doctor. That might frighten you off your parents very quickly.

      This has nothing to do with "the Pipers". Abraham is a not a child. He is a fully grown, 40 year old man who has put himself in front of the public as an enemy of Christ, His gospel, and His church. He therefore needs to be refuted and corrected publicly. Enemies of the cross are not off limits because they happen to be the children of famous pastors.

Think if your son was apostate, and publicly vocal, and your own brother went on line with biblical and theologically correct corrections - how would you feel? It's like folks who say: 'there's no absolute truth' but that statement is an absolute truth statement so.. it's a contradiction, cannot be true, and therefore an absolute truth exists.
    That's really what you get when you reject the biblical God. You try to use your imperfect mind, which is made into the image of God, to justify an absolute truth without God(who is the absolute truth and the only truth we measure everything by). It's like me walking on a bridge while at the same time not believing the bridge is there.
    May God lead him to repentance. The illogical side, the irrational side, all of it is clearly from the mind of man, not from the mind of God. let us pray for him, salvation found in Jesus! :)

      What is rational about the belief in God?

    • @nikor6249
      @nikor6249 2 года назад

      @@chongology1602 FIrst off I must tell you what I mean by the word 'God' here. Many folks, like Richard Dawkins, have thought that WE christians believe in a deity on the inside of the universe such as afrodite, zeus, poseidon etc. And we don't. When we're talking about the God, only God, of all creation we're talking about the only Creator, Sustainer, eternal, good, just, truth, reason Himself who never changes and who has always been, who is and always shall be.
      So, to your question: 'what is rational about the belief in God?' Here's a few thoughts to think about:
      1: even if you don't believe the Biblical narrative and truth about our universe, you can still understand that because our universe and all space, time and matter has had a beginning, then that beginning cannot be part of the natural realm. So we got two answers here: either nothing created everything out of nothing or someone created everything out of nothing. Now, the former answer is by nature impossible. Nothing is what stones dream about. From nothing nothing comes. But the latter, which is this supernatural Creator, is an absolutely good, and only possible, answer for it.
      This Creator would be eternal and He could create time. He'd be spirit and therefore create all things seen and not seen in the natural realm, that is material things also. This being has to be absolutely powerful to create everything. This being has to also be rational and logical to create such an order that we have in our universe. And has to be a choice making being to choose to create.
      2: Absolute morality. If there is no God then absolute morality does not exist. You can always come up with some sort of logical principles but all of them fail. Why? Because we'd be collectively trying to come up with an 'absolute' morality that's merely based on our knowledge, experience and understanding of the environment and people around us. One example being that if the logical principle for an absolute morality would be that 'whatever the society decides', then it logically follows that even in Hitler's Germany, Stalin's Russia and Mao's China they were all right because they as a society chose what was right in their own eyes. However, if Creator exists and He is good, and He does and He can be known, then we can be assured that He also has a will for us of how to live here. But He has to define Himself for us, we cannot define Him as we would see Him with our own understanding. Biblical truth is that God is good, and He is the objective standard of goodness. whatever is transgression of God's law that is wicked, sinful, bad.
      3: God is the reason why we can reason. If naturalism, atheism and macro evolution are true, then we're just all a product of unguided natural processes. Who, in those mutations of species(allegedly), decides where logic and rationel are based on? Your thoughts? Collective thinking? Majority of society? Minority of society? My point with this last part is to say because God never changes and He is reason, He is wisdom, He is understanding, He is truth, We don't come up with reason, we find how reason works. Reason has always existed before humans did. For example: did the law of non-contradiction exist before humans did? here's an example: Those who believe in macro evolution and naturalism do believe that universe actually was here before human beings. So is it rational, logical to imply or to claim that there was and wasn't universe at the same time? No. it does not make any sense. A and non-A cannot be true at the same time. So my argument for this part here is to say that because we've been made into the image of God and He is reason, truth and logic who never changes, then we can therefore rely on Him to understand why we can reason, why we can understand the universe, but if atheism or agnosticism is true then we can never really know for 100% certainty that what we know is true since there is no unchanging basis for our reason, rather just changing unguided natural processes.
      4: Historical evidence for the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus said, destroy this temple and I will raise it up in three days. He was talking about His own body. That statement is either true or false. Jesus claimed to be God in the flesh who came to save us from our sins.We have violated God's perfect moral law, I have also, so we should be punished for our sins by this just God in eternal punishment departed from Him. But He was rich in mercy and goodness that He sent His only begotten Son into the world, to live a perfect life under God's law, suffer and die in our place for our sins on the Cross of Calvary, and those who believe in Him will be forgiven, given grace and not be condemned. Then He was buried and He was resurrected, truly bodily resurrected. Jesus had 12 apostles, 1 of which betrayed Him. Those apostles witnessed Jesus as a true man who healed people, told the most wise things ever said by any human being, and proved His Words and claims with miracles, healings, forgiving sins and resurrecting Himself from the dead. Now, you may read Wallace's book about 'Cold case christianity', for some good evidence for biblical truth from the four Gospels(Matthew, Mark, Luke and John), but if you really wanna be serious and go straight to the evidence then I'd suggest reading Gospel of John entirely with an open mind and heart. If you truly wanna seek the truth the truth will show Himself to you.
      I hope this was helpful and answered your question 'what is rational about the belief in God?' May God bless your day. Seek Jesus while He may be found

    He was neglected and abused by his family when he needed medical help for a broken bone. As a child, he was made to cling to a broomstick and be swung around until he fell off the broomstick( That is odd. He could have hit his head and been killed.) He broke a bone and was told it was a sprain. It wasn't. It was a break.
    This doesn't work for him. He doesn't want his parents or siblings around his children. This does make sense.
    However, God is not who hurt him or made him do a weird thing. But there is no way he can allow his relatives to have contact with his children. He finds it dangerous. Based on his experience, it is. If he professes to believe in God, he would have to let his parents back into his life. He doesn't trust what weird thing they might do which could cause physical harm or psychological harm. It's that simple.

    I was swallowed by the cloud of unknowing. The most translated and variously packaged doctrine other than the bible. At the time I was drifting into mysticism and such but the author claimed he served Christ and lived both as a devout monk with vows of silence and other such disciplines for half his life, and the remainder in a village with all the trappings and fleshly pleasures of the world. His conclusion was that confidence in knowing himself and observation that God somehow was real and had various do and do nots that we endlessly disagree amongst each other over, making them along with said God . Unknowable. He imagined centering his consciousness and emptying the vessel of his form of thoughts and in his mind, sin, then applying his will with wisdom he had found ..to the image of a sword and the experience would result from wielding this sword to transcend this reality by forcing it nothing stabbing into the cloud of unknowing conceding you know nothing of God or his Son trusting that this Devine will will take its course through the steady practitioner's focus. It's new age babylonian sorcery, but with a western flavour ,the vague alluding to Christ and the biblical teachings lightly dusted between the words. This is clearly another device used by Satan, and watch as it's resurgence bedazzles the church, speakers using these diamanic doctrines as inside baseball, imparting the kundalini zeitgeist spirit through hypnotic induction with demonic deception and your usual circus of supernatural events and events. This spirit has it's manifestations including the demeanor of being removed from the moment seperate yet speaking as to have authority, diplomacy and tolerance appearing to be Zen and in subjection even in emotional situations. , and you can never be justified or sufficiently endowed by God alone and need to attain more wisdom and power stabbing into the cloud of unknowing, incidentally the knowing part will be obvious when death takes place and boxes go under stone and dirt and yet your eyes are blinking and focusing you can still feel all sense and your intellect processes as visual only it's not able to convey the serious and grave misgivings that shall require eternity to incinerate the image of God can't recover from willing rebellion and holiness can't be mandated .

    I may be giving too much credit and if I may I think the material and the impetus Abraham uses is a result of our neglect as a body to deal with the methods and structure of elevated teachers and doctrines. We add on things that those like Abraham says, what?!
    It’s like how a comedian uses observation to get their material.
    Take a traditional Sunday morning. One guy stands up on a platform. The rest of the body sits down. They face each other. The one man speaks a lot. The congregation is quiet. There are certain syllables added and speech patterns using reverb for dramatic effect.
    The comedian might say, what’s up with this one man show? It’s like a mob is running after this poor guy and he turns around to face them and they all sit down. Then after church they all go to Cracker Barrel because the guys want to show the gals they shouldn’t work on Sunday letting the infidels do all the cooking and cleaning. Then they go home where dad watches a bunch of multi million dollar entertaining athletes try to kill each other.
    Wasn’t the sabbath for rest? I thought Jesus is the sabbath not a day of the week. .

At least Abraham is original, Doug just tries to ride his coattails. Perhaps the most ironic thing is that Abraham probably doesn't care one bit about this video react series, he's just out living his life as best he can and finding joy.
