      If your getting flathead and no bream then you might be fishing to heavy. Try reducing the leader and the jig head weight.

    Hey Alan I absolutely love your videos you've gotten me back into fishing, especially with plastics, and I'm now considering getting a kayak, I have a coupple of questions. How do i know what brands are good to get into at a lower price than something like a hobie. And is it worth going for a pedal drive for my first kayak. And my other question is what is that rod you have with the full cork butt the one that has the stradic on it at the start of this video I love the look of it and haven't seen anything like it before.
    Thanks again mate for the amazing entertaining very well produced content keep up the amazing work

      Thanks for the kind words, Buying a kayak can be a tricky thing as there is so much false advertising and generally in the kayak space you get what you pay for. I've owned and used so many different yaks and nothing has come close to the stability and features of the hobies especially the PA and Outbacks. 100% you will want a peddle kayak i hated fishing with kayaks that dont have them as you spend so many time paddling and so much less time fishing. My best advice is wait and save a bit extra and and keep an eye out on 2nd hand hobies on marketplace, ebay and gumtree which often have good yaks at discounted rates. There is heaps more info on this on the fishingmad website and an hour video on buying the right kayak in the fishingmad members area.

    Gday Allen, tips for whiting,flattys and snapper/pinkies and bream? I’m new to saltwater, lures or bait? Soft plastics or hardbodies?
    Cheers, and keep up the great work, tight lines brother 🎣
    Edit: can u thump flattys, bream, pinkies and whiting? If not how do ya hold em?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  2 месяца назад +1

      100% go back and have a look at so much of our previous content that walks through heaps of tips and techniques on those species you mentioned, we also have a members area with dedicated workshops to help anglers really FastTrack there skills with plastics and lures for all those species which would likely be really helpful for you. you can see that at www.fishingmad.com.au/member now handling each species requires a bit of knowledge, flathead have very sharp bristle mouths so if you use your thumb in mouth to hold them it usually tears up your skin, also need to be careful with the spins on the side of their heads, whiting can be very slippery and have very small mouths so very hard to do and bream have teeth,

    Guess what, Alan? I caught my very first salmon trout on a soft plastic grub. I still don't know how to work with the rod properly because it's like 7 ft and I'm only like 5 something. Got a good question and I really need the help I'm a right-hander should I have spinner handle on my right or my left like I don't know which hand I'm supposed to use to pull the rod up and spin with because I'm a right hand?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  3 месяца назад

      Thats fantastic, well done. Hopefully first of many. Regarding which hand to hold the rod and which hand to reel, many people will argue different opinions here. I would say go with what ever makes you feel most comfortable. Ideally not needing to swap hands once casted
