Leyndell has my favorite exploration music of the entire game for me. It’s so somber and melancholic and perfect for a city that’s almost entirely dead
Elphael's music always felt like it was missing something for me, but it makes so much sense to think that the city around the Haligtree is quiet and fractured like that. - These tracks sound beautiful together! :)

DAMN! Great catch! It seems like not only are the names similar, but so too are the soundtracks! Malenia sharing a melody with both Marika and Miquella's OSTs (their cities, at least) relates them even more. Wonder if any other bosses have shared motifs with areas too?
Kinda unrelated but the soundtrack for the Village of the Dead level in Nazi Zombie Army is like that. There are different little jingles and loops going on the whole time and at during the final horde of the level it combines them all together. It's even packaged as multiple sound files.
Leyndell and Elphael have always been reflections of eachother. Visaully and musically, as well as story wise. This sounds so well btw thse are 2 of my favourite themes in the whole game.
i love how much effort went into the osts. theres so many hidden motifs.. I noticed that some track can be put together into one as soon as I heard promised consorts theme, it fits exactly on starscourges theme like one full song. You can hear malenias 1st phase in this video, marikas/radagons theme in the shaman village, melinas theme and elden beasts theme fit perfectly, mohg/lord of blood, margit/morgott, even midra has the frenzy merchant melody in his ost for a few seconds. Soundtrack in video games is highly important to me, so this is just peak. so cool.
It fits considering right in front of Lyendells Outer Wall enterance to the left, there is a small passage where you can find a Miquella and Malenia Statue.
@@adamlantos2319 might be because leyndell is marika's city while elphael is miquella's. miquella's fate mirror that of marika where they abandon everything to descend to godhood to usher in their vision of "good". we can see the world marika created and from the hints of his crosses, miquella's age of compassion would tread in the same misguided path.

I was always on the chad Mohg train, they tried too hard to make him seem overtly evil, I was suspicious the whole time. So the dlc really scratched me in the right spot lol

Honestly, new FromSoft dlcs always give off that "different" vibe for the first few months, eventually we will get used to seeing both base and dlc as one.
thats thiolliers armour (gotten with dlc questline), with what looks like a wandering nobles hat (farm them for it), and i think the gravebird bracelets or thiolliers bracelets which is picked up in the dlc also. not sure about the trousers :)
They oddly mirror each other, even when there's dissonance there's beauty. The Erdtree and The Haligtree are both imperfect symbols of order, but both try so hard to make a perfect world. And both tracks perfectly encapsulate the beauty in the attempt to attain such a world, but that attempt at attainment of perfection always leads to the inevitable use of evil. Marika: The genocide of all identities at the fringes of an ordered system. Miquella: Weaponized compassion, and absolute control of all identities. I think these two outcomes of humanity's attempts to create a perfect world perfectly encapsulate the human condition. Will humanity find an alternative? A transcendent pathway to a perfect world that does not collapse into genocide or tyranny?
Played this with St. Trina's and it's creepy how well the 3 of these fit in together.
