Lori, great job on the garden considering you hand full with a new baby and other tasks that you and Cody got done. I am glad you are being kind to yourself. PLEASE DO NOT LISTEN TO THE TROLLS!
Hello from Cape Cod. I put my rhubarb in a raised bed last year and this year I swear hey tripled in size. I got three cuttings from them so I’m wishing you luck🤞. You did ok with your carrots. Good for you. Thanks for sharing. Stay warm. Hugs to the little one✌️🇺🇸❤️❤️❤️
You achieved your tasks for the week Lori. Outside all cleared up for winter snow. Your high tunnel served its purpose. You enjoyed fresh veggies in summer. That was a good harvest of carrots from 2 pots. I think small carrots are much sweeter. Love and hugs to Rowan. 🇦🇺 fan.
With the rof on your woodshed have you thought about catchig rainwater from it to water your garden with? Youd be surprised how much water youd get very quickly.
FR: THE BRONX NY Those carrots are FANTASTIC & what a yield you grew in just two pots. Can't wait to see what you accomplish in the next growing season. They would make a YUMMY dish of glazed carrots w/ maple syrup or honey or a nice carrot salad w/ raisins or crasins ( I make the mayo based one w/ a little drop of yellow mustard carrot salad) 🤤😛. Baby Girl is growing like a weed. It seems she has grown so much in such a little time. What a BEAUTIFUL, HEALTHY, HAPPY BABY 😍. You all are doing such a FABULOUS job, keep up the GOOD work !!! Thanks for Sharing 🙏💞🙏💞🙏💞
Great garden and some little girls first carrots are going to be amazing. Best way to ensure they learn to love food is good quality first tastes. Amazing life you guys have
If you place a rain gutter under the eaves of the house and bury a small tank at one end. You could then use that small tank to pump water in to a larger one for any water you mite need around the house. Also, have you moved all the things you took out of the green house in the spring to a safe place for the winter yet?
Wow! Such a lovely picture of Rowan! Yes, I love these little children! This grandpa and great-grandfather has 23 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren (and waiting for 2 more - and one the later half of November and one sometime next March - all the Lord willing!
Its not the size of the carrot but the taste that matters! Id say you did great given the constraints you were working with. The gardening will just get better as you get the soil and amendments in line.
Not sure if you know that you can use the carrot greens to make pesto. I am learning that there are several greens that can be used to make “pesto”. You also can substitute other nuts for the pine nuts, because pine nuts tend to be on the expensive side😃👍🏼 Hope this helps someone😃👍🏼 Coming back to say congrats on your beautiful carrot harvest😃👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I’ve only tried pesto once and was not a fan, I’m hoping in the future to try again and by making it myself I will like it better. Thank you for the tips!
@@remotelifealaska I dont care for the Regular Pesto either, bc I didnt like the nuts or the cheese. I make my own version of it with basil or mixture of other green tops sometimes, garlic or garlic scapes, a little onion & powderd chicken broth, little salt, pepper & olive oil. I spread it on slices of warm crusty peasant bread, a sauce for pasta, season & bake,: pork, beef, bison chicken, fish. It also makes a great veggie omelet, etc,etc
@@remotelifealaska my daughter and I love to use it as the base for pizza instead of red sauce, especially when making a chicken topped pizza. I also like to use pesto when having spaghetti squash. Look up all the different greens that you could make pesto with and try each, that would be a fun experiment, you don’t have to make large batches to try. Then you may find one flavor you like over another. Pesto is vary versatile😃👍🏼 let me know if you find your favorite if you try😃👍🏼 Also I was wondering if you had heard of the chnl. “Wild Wonderful Off Grid”?? They live in West Virginia area. They bought property and live on the land in an RV for a bit before they started building. They also went with building an “A Frame”. I mention in case you have not heard of them and it could be a resource for tips and such from another couple who has been through an “A-Frame” build😃👍🏼 I found a web-site that has a few videos of the topic of “Dormer” which the chnl. I mentioned above did utilize. There is also a couple of other chnl. Your garlic i think your supposed to put staw or leaves on them to keep them from freezing since you live in Alaska, maybe put tnem in your tunnel just a suggestion, maybe your mom can tell you more about mulching garlic. Larry
Should of layed some leaves over the garlic , make sure when you do your beds next year ya get plenty of hay for the winter months for them. Even for the green house, it helps alot.
I did go back and layer leaves on top of all the containers. I’ve heard of people using old straw bales from Halloween decorations to mulch with after the season is over, and if we are in town and see any for grabs we may do that as well.
Carrot store very well in the refrigerator for quite a long time. I bet you could come up with a rain catchment system on that high tunnel Greenhouse. What about a lightweight gutter attached to that hip board?

I was always told never put rubard leaves in compost because when it breaks down it becomes poisonous u might want to check on it x
The carrots are beautiful. You should be so proud of yourself. You grew a baby, a house, beautiful vegetables in such a short period of time.
Congratulations on your harvest that's wonderful nothing like growing your own good !!
The baggies of carrot medley will roast up beautifully.🥕🥕🥕
Love your carrots! Not bad for your first year. 🤗❤️🙏🏻❤️🤗
The colored carrots are so pretty and makes you want to eat them. Look at that big girl sitting at the counter!

I think I like the smaller ones too. They are a great snacking size!
Nicely done Lori!

Great video.
Use the ash from the wood stove on the wet puddley bits. Works as anti-slip too. x
Hi kid a bit of advice put your cold fire ashes on you rhubarb it has always been done here in Ireland good fertiliser☘️🇮🇪
You did really good on your garden 👏👏👏
You had a better carrot harvest then me hi from Colorado Springs 😀
