We are so lucky in Brissy to have the bay. So many locals overlook this wonderful. safe water bay that just keeps going. Morton and Straddie Islands give great protection and offer a sanctuary of life. Turtles swimming by , great fishing and wonderful birdlife. We should be happy now because the bay was not always like it is today. We overfished and polluted it to almost a lifeless state but in the last twenty years Ive seen it slowly coming back. Its guys like this that appreciate and respect it by releasing what you do not need. Wonderful to watch and great education to the people that watch. Good show.
Cheers Peter, appreciate that! Yeah industry pollution has an issue no doubt. I grew up on a river in Brisbane and seen the results of a industry very close to our house and the impact it had on the fish…..
Great stuff, mate. Over here in NZ we like to think we have pretty good snapper fishing, but those are quality fish in anyone's books - especially so close to a big city. I'm fascinated by your technique - those quite strong upward whips off the bottom, then slow controlled drop. Not commonly done over here, but it clearly works well under the boat. Most people here use spin gear to fish softbaits, and cast well away from the boat. So that's another interesting thing from watching you fish with overhead gear. I've even imported some of your favourite Molix softies from Aussie, because we can't get them here!! And yes, powerful jaws. I had my thumb crunched by a 74cm (to the tail fork, which is how we measure here) snap while trying to get the jighead out to release the fish. Teeth ripped the flesh on both sides, blood dripping all over the photo on the measure mat, and killed the nail which took months to drop out. Ouch.
Oh wow, that’s cool you got some to NZ mate! Yeah, most use spin gear too. These fish we’re hugging the bottom and used to boat noise as it’s Moreton Bays most fished spot 🤣.
Thanks for showing the sounder readings mate. Can’t wait to get out there give it a go. My boat is currently in repair so spewing…. But!! I was out there yesterday on the kayak… heaps and heaps of snapper caught on the wakasagi 4” fork flex with 3/8 jighead… love your work mate! 👌
Look up doughboy bridge cam near the brissy River, we used to fish livies there landbased off the bridge or under it. Plenty of jew, threadies and flathead. Mate got his Pb thready there at 28kg!
great video thanks. If you don't have the coin for the Kaden 745, is there any rod that you would recommend to pair with the abu garcia revo4 beast that won't break the bank?
Awesome vid again Pete👍 I live on the Gold Coast and was wondering what is the best boat ramp in Brisbane to drive to launch boat and how do I get to Harry’s? Cheers Adrian
Cheers mate! Harries is in the middle to southern part of the bay. Any gps will have it on there. Heaps of different ramps you can use tbh. I like Cleveland ramp.
Hey Pete! My boat is cactus mate. Looking for a new boat! I have noticed for a while now you go in the bay in a bass boat! How do they go out there mate? 10-15knot winds ok?
Goes ok out there. 10-15 with wind against ain’t nice in most boats tbh and I’m pretty selective when I’ll go out there. It sticks to the water, moves around with easy to stay on the fish and is a great platform to fish from.
@@gregcurtisfishing3558 big snapper chew that hard doesn’t really matter the hook they’re still gonna do some damage to it I run the bkk and the heavy tt’s and they still bust them up but if I had to pick a go to it would be the bkk’s caught some donkeys on those

@@Peter_Herbst_Fishing yeah I’d agree, but that’s without using the Daiwa jig heads myself yet. So I won’t pass judgement yet either. Be interesting to see how they hold up on a jewie though

@@Peter_Herbst_Fishing haha yea man, went straight into the eye of it as our spot was just beyond it, wasn’t too bad, bagged out on snapper, pearlies, and caught some bonus amberjack all on plastics, was a great day. Awesome content Peter. The day after you caught that snapper I got my biggest snapper which was 67cm on a lure which I was so happy about. Definitely the NS Amped 731xh mate. Under $200.
