I love how he turns into a square to plug into the torso. Not hating the partsforming, just makes me laugh when I visualize how that'd work in a cartoon. Silverbolt transforms... and this entire other piece appears and helps form the combined mode heheheh
That is an acceptable amount of backpack. I generally only have issue when you wind up with what looks like the entire vehicle mode crammed onto the back of a robot, or it makes it entirely unwieldy. But for the sake of a clean looking front and/or(especially) better articulation/posability, I'll be fine with a bit of junk in the trunk. I don't display anything facing backwards anyway.
Thanks, this is the Silver Arrow review that helped me figure out if the additional components of Kronos (thighs, hands, feet, head, front of torso) came with Silver Arrow or not, thus justifying the price.
So many folks crying about the parts-forming as cheating, yet the G1 cartoon animators completely cheated to accomplish any combined modes or transformation. At $60 to $65 per limb bot, that's fantastic for leader class size bots. 2 years ago, TFC Toys Uranos had their limb bots at $100 each, and they were deluxe size.
@@cthuludreams1 Not sure why disagreeing with or disliking a figure for whatever reason is considered "whining". Everyone is different and all of this stuff is subjective. You like what you like.
Happy New Year! Thanks for another great video. This thing looks impressive! Superion was one of my favorite combiners and Zeta Toys has nailed the robot modes of these line as well as the jets. I'm not sure how I feel about the parts swapping but I'm not sure how else such a good combined mode can be achieved. I will have to wait and see what Fans Toys comes up with. At this price I can only go all in on one of these Superions and even at the total cost of the set this will still be a stretch. Thanks again for sharing.
I don't mind the chest piece/parts forming in the least bit. When it comes down to overall aesthetic, stability, and scale in all 3 modes a little parts forming is a fair sacrifice IMO.
This has probably been one of the hardest pills for the fanbase to swallow because back in the older days of G1+, you had no choice but to have parts when playing with your Transformers because that's just how it went, especially for gestalt characters (Devastator, Superion, etc.). You always had some fists and feet, and everyone's favourite head piece which the Protectobots managed to work in well. In any case, it wasn't until Energon that we got new combiners for the first time in forever who all had integrated combiner heads but still had spare hands and feet BUT ones that could be converted into usable weapons for both robot and vehicle mode. Fast forward to Combiner Wars and we have toys that are basically doing the same thing. What I'm trying to say is that Transformers have been made to be more parts-convenient because it's something that we've always wanted because who likes dealing with parts? Ultimately, it made it really hard for 3P companies to usher it in because a product with parts-forming is heresy and a sure death for growing companies. I think ToyWorld Structor really broke the ice though because yes, we're getting parts-forming, but the final product is beautiful so I think fans are okay because the quality is near-perfect.
TheBrandonRobert with what Toyworld and Zeta are doing it would be near impossible to create a quality figure that looks good, has a solid build and lots of articulation without parts forming due to the size and weight of the figures. Ultimately I'd like to have a combiner thats parts forming free but if some parts forming means a higher quality, better looking figure I'm fine with it. I know some people don't like it and thats their opinion and I'm cool with that, for me its an acceptable trade-off.
Yeah, not that big a fan of Toyworld's or Zeta's methods with combiners. I get why, but I always prefer the minimal partsforming with just the front plating and hands/feet. It feels off having the torso member being just a block with no integration with the other members. I also don't care for super accurate G1 things, so take that as you will. Looks like a solid solo piece, might make for a great group shot
I like the way Zeta are doing these combiners, by giving us a separate combiner torso means the bot modes are not hindered by the combiner parts. Definitely the best way to do it in my opinion Thanks for another awesome review Ben
Fantastic review! Love the scale, love the aesthetics, just a great piece from Zeta. For those complaining about parts-forming, all G1 combiners were parts formers and they were great because of it. Thanks for taking the time, Ben.
I don't like the limbs in bot mode, I don't like Silverbolt in alt mode but damn is Superion gorgeous. I may get Zeta for Superion and Fanstoys for robot mode.
Hey Ben, did you keep your box? I keep all my boxes and for this particular set I actually have it displayed. BUT, the back combined-image for the Silver Allow box is a bit faded / washed-out compared to the other four boxes. I wanted to see if yours had the same issue? Yours looked like it might actually be the same rich coloring as the other four boxes, but it's difficult to see in the video.
Somehow, that Ironman "heroic landing" pose doesn't suit Silverbolt. Slingshot, perhaps, cuz he's a cocky lil' McBastard. A big ol' Superion torso that almost doesn't need Silverbolt? Cool.
I still feel like if they made the robot mode about 15% or so smaller and made the jet mode twice as big, they could have greatly mitigated the Skylynx syndrome.
Fans Toys version looks a lot better, you don't have half of the figure on the bottom of the Concorde. The nose also droops better. What you do see makes sense, such as the arms being the wing jets.
A guy would think Zeta could figure out the fingers. The other releases have really tight finger joints and Silver Arrow has sloppy loose finger joints especially the right pinky.
I hesitated when the price was revealed to be over twice that of the limb-bots, but now I see why. Silver Arrow himself is less than half of the contents of the box! I passed on Armageddon, (love my Ragnaros 😄 ), but this set looks good in all three modes. Despite feeling a little cheap and hollow, the jet modes are a lot less flappy than MakeToys Meteor, whose wings and stabilizers need constant readjustment because they dont click into place.
I can appreciate parts forming (sometimes) but hell, that's a whole other figure that doesn't even incorporate into anything. I could care less how big the combined figure gets!
Wing Dagger You need silverbolt to really combine them. If anyone is dumb enough to add the arm bots without silverbolt being attached they deserve to have their toy break. Which is what will happen without silverbolt helping support the torso and connectors.
@@Pktattooss I understand that, and it wasn't my point. My point is that is Silverbolt isn't an integral part of the combined mode, and as such they could have made him the same height as the others. They would have then just needed to make the 'chest-plate' bigger to fill the gap, and ensure the stability of the figure.
I feel like it would have been nice if that combiner piece turned into something, instead of just being a giant extra piece. Its what i loved so much about Warbotron Bruticus's flatbed trailer.
Is he supposed to be taller than prime? I mean I don't recall Silver Bolt being as large as Ultra Magnus. Am surprised with all the parts forming they couldn't get the scale right. But oh! Well Superion is what matters. As always great review and have a happy healthy new year 🎄🌟

Due to how flimsy this figure is in combined mode and how it's a massive parts former I'll be waiting for Fans Toys version. Besides that, Maverick looks better.
@Predaking101 Exactly what is it about your personal life that you hate so much that would make you lash out at someone else that doesn't share your opinion? Over a fucking toy nonetheless. It's HIS OPINION. He's entitled to like/dislike whatever he chooses. What are you? A nazi?? Lighten the fuck up.
This new trend on combiners is insulting. They have the nerve to charge you the full high end price for a playmobil set disguised as a transformers combiner. Basically they're admiting they're too incompetente to make a Transformer figure so they make a modeling kit and then say it's a combiner. They should simply release a single masterpiece scale fully articulated gestalt figure. No teammate figures, just basically an action figure of the combined mode. Less engineering and moving parts would mean cheaper price tag and since it's just one figure they could do it as cartoon accurate as they wanted. At least that way they would still be selling you a lump of pre-formed figure but not ripping people off by calling it a combiner.
BackFromUranus companies use parts forming not because they are incompetent, but because they are competent. Have you seen any of the combiners that don't use parts forming? Most are either unstable, look bad in one or more modes, or are both unstable and look bad not to mention don't scale with the rest of the MP figures.
Parts-forming the gestalt mode allows for cartoon accurate limb and torso bots that scale well with each other along with a combined form that is stable and bears a good resemblence to the cartoon model. It isn't the fault of toy companies that the people who drew the G1 cartoon didn't care what the toys would look like, and liked to mass shift while making jet parts appear and disappear in order to make nicer looking robots.
BackFromUranus a fully articulated gestalt would be cool, not necessarily cheaper though. Several years ago there was a 19" non transforming Optimus that was around $600.
Yeah i remember that one. Still that figure was never anounced as "partially transformes!!!". They marketed what was basically an high end collecter's action figure. The price was a reflection of the level of detail, build and material quality. This is simply lazyness. Why bother making a decent Transformer Combiner when you can simply put out a 600$ model kit and call it a combiner?
I love how he turns into a square to plug into the torso. Not hating the partsforming, just makes me laugh when I visualize how that'd work in a cartoon.
