- Ricky and Derek (Ricky Schoeder and Jason Bateman) are faced with a hard decision in this episode of Silver Spoons.
From Season 2, Episode 2 'Attack of the Giant Frog People' - Ricky has his friends Derek, J.T. and Freddy for a sleepover, but the boys play a cruel prank on Freddy - and Ricky makes it worse with a selfish remark. He feels guilty about his behavior, while Kate over-identifies with the taunting.

About Silver Spoons: Even though he is now running his family's multinational toy empire, Edward Stratton III (Joel Higgins) has never quite grown up. An overgrown kid, he lives in a mansion filled with arcade games and toy trains. But when he discovers that his brief marriage twelve years earlier produced a son, Edward faces the responsibilities of being a parent to the youngster, Ricky (Ricky Schroder). Springing him from the boarding school where he's been sent by his mother, Edward brings Ricky home to live at his estate. With help from his personal assistant, Kate Summers (Erin Grey), he looks to teach Ricky how to enjoy being a kid, while Ricky helps his new dad see the value in accepting full-fledged adulthood. And as Ricky stands on the brink of being a teenager, Edward begins to see Kate as more than just an employee.

Ah, my childhood! Loved this show--of course I was in love with Rick but also Derek. Jason Bateman was so awesome in that role, and he was so young! Thank you for sharing.
My friend and I actually saw ricky schroeder shopping at a bookstore at the mall way back then... I was too shy I know she went over to talk to him.. He also came to our local mall To an apartment store And we waited on line to get his autograph..

1980s best Era ever times simple everything life church family get together board games, riding bikes , mall, arcades, playing outside. Listening music Walkman or radio. More on tv back then to. Thanks memories

Freddy is the one I would've been friends with..Derek and JT, I had friends like that, but Freddy would've been the one I hung out with most. The last house on our street, had a Derek, acted just like him ..his dad was rich and a total snob.
