- Piano Duet Version / Composed by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov / Performed by Satoshi Amaname (Recorded by Dubbing)
This piano duet version of "Scheherazade", a symphonic suite after A Thousand and One Nights, was arranged by the composer himself.
For this recording, I have made some alterations on this score by reference to the orchestral work.
For the first three movements, I thought most of this I might be able to pull off solo and maintain at least the most important leitmotifs and accents... then I remembered just how amazingly intricate the final movement is, and now I wonder how the pianists pulled this off with a mere duet. This was an amazing performance, and a great way to start my day.
4 really excellent videos.. I almost feel sea sick..
I know a lot of people can do dubbing (even X4 and more!), but this is beyond simple polyphonic... This is FANTASTIC!
And it's one of my favourite pieces, too.
Well done!
No, Rachmaninoff never did a piano roll of Scheherazade. This is an internet/RUclips urban legend that has unfortunately taken off like wildfire. The performance that is being passed off as Rachmaninoff's is actually that of Prokofiev, who DID do a piano fantasy of Scheherazade and put it on piano roll for posterity.
Without this masterpiece and performers ,
the classical music world would have been very lonely and insipid ,
I would feel that the classical music is like a vapid beer
Everything was just perfect, except for that F sharp you missed in 10:31, and the second one after that. Only the D is supposed to be a natural and the F has to be sharp. It does change the original dramatic effect it was supposed to have, but other than that, it was AMAZING. ^.^ Thanks for uploading this. I have the piano solo sheets for this whole piece and I've been waiting a really long time to hear it in piano solo (since there are no piano solo versions of it on audio)
WildStarvingWolf yeah I agree, everything else was perfect but it kinda ruined the motif
we've all loved this music since childhood I found this four version amazingly redolent of the original amazing orchestral version with all its colors and instrumental originality .This is fantastic would luv to play it with my mother !
Instrument has no color but timbre
Unbelievable!!!!

Can you please send this to me!? I want to learn to play it!
The second violin cadenza lacked the force which contrasts it from the first; especially in the left hand of the secondo (if you listen to a good orchestral recording the low strings really attack that E). The second violin cadenza itself must be more ragged and less flowing; Scheherazade is painting a thrilling picture for the sultan. It helps build up tension for the next section.
Rachmaninov recorded it. It is on youtube piano solo, but I think there is only the 1st movement.
Guys you realize this is not a person playing it, its sheet music fed into the paino program
