    I picked up a cheap Huepar for $50, and it seems to work as well as ones 4-5x the price. In this situation, that seems a poor way to do that job. I would have set up my laser and got my level, then a couple of stakes and a string line. Then you just cut above the string line.

      Yes I have done that in the past, I was just showing a different way to level a hedge. The trouble with a string line over that length is the sag in the line no matter how tight you have it. Thanks for the comment

    The Hupar dual green laser for $50 seems to rival the $200-300 Milwaukee's, etc. However outside I can barely see the line against the house from 20'. Even the laser used in this video which is top of the line is very faint at less distance than that. Keep expectations in check, working with a laser outside during the day is going to require you to use either a laser receiver or one of those green reflectors. I have to check, however a piece of black construction paper will probably work good as well.

      Yes in bright sunshine laser line are hard to see. The main difference when you go up in price on these tools is the lasers accuracy over long distance (2mm at 10 meters) as this goes out to 120 meters with a receiver and 30 meters with out.

    Why not run a string line off the laser next time - will save you having to hold the paper/receiver the whole way along the hedge

      I’ve tried string lines in the past and you find they either get hooked up on the hedge without you realising it until you finish or you cut the line :)

      @@PhilipHollowaychannel you can also spray a color line instead holding the paper

      @@Punchlined I haven't done this, however the string line seems like it would work, although the paint idea is pretty smart since its going to be cut anyways.

    How far away from the laser do you figure the far end of that bush was?

    So does it work good on sunny days? Thank you

    • @PhilipHollowaychannel
      @PhilipHollowaychannel  2 года назад +2

      Yes if the line is in shadow or a white Piece of paper. But if you have the receiver it works perfectly in full sunshine. I’m still very happy with it

      The camera makes it look a lot closer than it was. There’s a lot more dangerous things in gardening than this. :)

      Phillip would have to have had a seizure to cause the hedger to push through brambles of the hedge before it would have contacted his hand. In that case he would likely have worse things to worry about. Garden with abandon Phil!
