I did this same mod to my wolverine rspec stock exhaust when I bought it, sounds much better now and runs cooler! Love it! I used 1 1/4” sched 80 pipe.
Had the same brand of exhaust on my Wildcat. The internals sounded like this. From now on I won't buy a slip on that is bolted/rivoted together. Good stuff guys!
Better than the stock muffler for sure, but you really should have cut the cat out while you were in there. I cut the baffle plate, ripped the cat out added a ftecu tune and she is running really well. I'm still considering an aftermarket slip on just for a better sound. Can't wait to see the turbo install video, or you might look into the supercharger packard is selling now!
Now cut that plate out so u can c the cat take a long craftman screwdriver work the out side of cat pop it out .now u get ur flow better then spending 7.8.9hunderd dollars .it flows an sounds better then any bolt on.trust me.
So, why did you cut it off so short and not leave the long "tail" on it? Suitably rounded edges of course. It would get the exhaust out and away from the "can". For those of us with windshields - it would stop a LOT of exhaust blow back into the cab.
That's a can of worms there! They all have their strong points, but it's hard to argue with the overall performance of the XP1K. Haven't found anything it's bad at yet.

Nah, very minimal change, mostly just for sound. The internal cat is still the big restrictor.
