im hoping some day i can afford a killshot system for my small block Mopar.. Its everything i want and it looks better quality than the big box efi companies
I liked your video a lot. I appreciate in the comments how quickly you respond to the comments and the best part is your patient and humble attitude. I think you are great and well worth watching. I just liked and subscribed, keep up the good work my friend 👍
I'm looking to EFI my 1979 Jeep Wagoneer AMC 360 5.9. I have the Motorcraft 2 barrel on and get Vapor Lock every single time I drive it. I read in a few forums just run a Hoodscoop,Electric Fuel Pump and move Fuel lines away from the Manifold. Something is Boiling the Fuel.
I'm not sure how that system is plumbed or what's stock or not stock. If you're getting vapor lock, my guess is either the pumps going and can't keep the pressure up to feed fresh fuel to the floats, the fuel lines are too close to a header or something else producing heat. Going efi could help since the fuel pump will typically be inside your fuel tank, keeping it cool. You'll run a high-pressure fuel pump so the fuel is moving faster and carrying heat away better. You'll also be able to monitor your intake temps and fuel pressure more easily with the efi setup. But I would definitely check your entire fuel system before going to efi. It might he something easy to fix, especially if you like your carby setup.
I've gotta holley sniper 1 on my turbo 302 sbf currently. planned to put a term x on the 408w im building. might go haltech instead. but im very impressed by the quality im seeing in this unboxing. going to do some research on what the tuning software looks like and i may lean towards using this for future carb style installs. thanks for the video. sub'd and heading to check out your other vids.
If you have experience with the holley stuff it's not too much different. I believe this unit will last longer than the holley because the ecu is out of the engine bay heat. It also offers slightly more customizablility and honestly better build quality. The tuning software needs some work. Thanks for subbing!
That's very fair. I was just disappointed with how badly the Holley unit was packaged and the lack of features for the price left a sour taste in my mouth. Subscribe to the channel! I'll be getting this thing running 😁
The Sniper is the lowest tier on the Holley EFI ladder. It's not that hard to be better. IMHO, the Killshot is already a step up because the ECU isn't on the throttle body, and the screen is freakin huge compared to what you get on a Sniper, and all for less money.
@jsimmonstx the 7 inch dash alone is crazy when compared to holleys new pro dash. Its a great dash but why on earth does it cost so much? I feel like it should be half the price or lower
I have a video out talking about it. It's been really good tbh. Some weird hiccups bec I'm running it on a rotary but I'm currently turbo the unit so we'll see how that goes. I've put just about 1000 miles in the unit and it's ran great. Cold starts like an oem setup
@@wheresmy10mm i understand that. For me that was a reason for me to stick with the sniper and fitech over it. I actually have one of each. Ended up with used ones for a deal i couldnt pass up as well. Not installed them yet. Plan on it in the coming months on my channel. I have less than 900 in both. Good luck with it.
@jeffreyrigged you definitely can't beat that deal! I think I would have kept my sniper 2 if they shipped it undamaged (wiring harness had a cut in it from no actual packaging reinforcement) and (the biggest reason) if they allowed even a single 5volt sensor input to monitor at least something. Good luck with your build as well!!
@bnorby213 you'll definitely have to swap to an EFI rated fuel pump. The injectors need at minimum 43.5 psi of fuel pressure. Youll also want to run a 100um fuel filter pre pump and 10um fuel filter prost fuel pump. I used evil energy pumps and filters on my Surpa build and so far 200+ miles later havet run into a single issue yet
Just bought one today for my 86 ss ttop 383. Took me awhile to pull the trigger but i couldn't find many complaints and it appears to be better in every way than the sniper. Hopefully everything goes smoothly. I figure its efi so it cant be as complicated as carbs are. As long as your timing, fuel pressure and injectors are correct, there shouldn't be issues. The complaint i saw from one guy seems like he was expecting to just slap it on and go. You still have to adjust it
The self tuning seems to be pretty decent if you have a pretty standard engine setup. The generated VE tables are conservative (for safety I assume) so the 02 will pull out and tune alright. But for performance the software is killer compared to what holley offers for even twice the price. They also listen to feedback. Join the fb group! Tons of helpful people on there. I hope it works well for you! Im learning tuning in mine right now and recording a video for that
Does their system save the tune even if the battery was disconnected, or do you have to re-learn again? I'm not sure if Fitech has fixed that issue with their system.
Is this a self learning system like the sniper? I've got a very healthy 327 chev putting out around 600hp at the rear tires and will this system work with a MSD 6AL electric distributor
I'm running an MSD right now with it! You might need a signal amplifier for the negative tach signal from the msd to the killshot. I ran into an issue where the voltage isn't great enough to trigger the injectors. Holley sells them, Im not sure if that's just an issue because im running a rotary or not however. Also this unit is good up to 600hp boosted on piston engines and yes it self learns and the tuning is completely open to you as wellm its not locked off like the sniper software is.
I've been running one of these for a year, 81 Chevy Malibu w/a 454 BBC. It's running good, but it has never had that EFI reach in the window and start the car ability. But it runs good once it's started. My beef has always been the size of the throttle body. They designed this for something with a ton of hood clearance. Try to fit a low profile air cleaner over that throttle body, it's huge. They designed their own air cleaner but it's flat based, won't fit my Malibu.
What issue are you running into on start up? Mine fires right up every time I use first start. I had to adjust my start up air amount, kinda like pumping the gas to open the throttle blades. I also ran into the issue with it sitting too high. I took a hammer to my hood to fix that issue.... lol
Good so far! The only issue I've really run into is getting the rpm signal to read correctly. There's no option to select 4 cylinder so it reads basically half the actual rpm so tuning is a little odd. But other than it runs great
In the end I would say if they both had the same amount into their product the Holley is probably higher quality where as ace put way more into their cardboard box that’s gonna get thrown away 🤷🏻♂️ probably cheaper made
I've had a substantial amount of time to mess with the Aces unit now. Hands down the software lets you get far more out of the product than the Holley software did. That being said the forums for Holley have been around for many many years. Aces is still new and has a long way to go into terms of support for the tuning side of things. As far as quality of the product, and I had the sniper 2, the Aces is easily far better quality. The Holley sniper and sniper 2 are cheap and built like they were the only choice for people, which kinda was the case. And having dealt with both Holley and Aces customer service for months, Aces is just better. Holley has the worst customer service I've ever dealt with. I'll be doing an update soon with my thoughts on this unit after having run it for awhile now. Aces certainly isn't all rainbows and butterflies.
My advice is to avoid any system that has the ECU attached to the throttle body. I’ve already burnt one and now its replacement is shutting down when it gets hot.
@@cfmechanicI’m glad you’re having better results. My Fitech preformed well right up to the point the fuel pump cutoff. Had the same issue two years after the factory update from the original.
