Traditional songs are not static, but reinterpreted by each generation. I thought this was a fun version. May this song last another thousand years. :)
I have so many memories of Ireland and Dublin ... and this song is one of them: every day in the shop "Carrol's" to buy souvenirs for our friends. it was a wonderful experience that I would repeat because ireland is so magical. IRELAND, I LOVE YOU..FROM ITALY
The first half dozen times I watched this vid, I didn't even notice the music for those eyes. My word! Those green eyes. Ahhhh. ... oh, the song is grand, too. This beautiful young lady has a lilting voice ... if you can get past those lovely green eyes. Oh. My.
The rendition is a bit different, but does not change the quality of the song. How could 400 people not like this song or the artists? Well, more like it than don't. Thanks for the opportunity to hear you. Great job.
I like it! Can't get it out of my head. Nice to keep songs alive for each generation...as long as everyone is also aware of the original. Nicely done presentation, too. Slainte.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I listen to it enough that my daughter sings it just walking around, we are still trying to get her to sing the words correctly, she sings “Cockles and Mukels Alive Alive O”. This is her favorite version. When we sing it together I sing the traditional version and she sings this one.
This may be completely different from the traditional version, but it is a great way to show the new generation a classic song through their musical taste. Great job guys. Definitely a purchase of mine on iTunes.
First time I heard the song was in Cohb, Ireland. A lovely young lady was singing it on the tour bus similar to fiffenmarkets version here. I loved the song and its been stuck in my head for months. When I heard "traditional" version, I thought it was too slow. All a matter of perspective. Good job FM! Makes me long to return to Ireland again.
Awesome version, these songs can be sung however you like. That is the beauty . Obviously I like the traditional version, but you can hear that anywhere.
I am from Holland, and I learned this song at my school and knew it´s a tradtional Irish song and it´s a shame that I hear a Irish person herself ruin a Traditional Irish song! And you Irish men I love the people there and agree with most Irish people that England is a fucked up country. Be proud to be Irish! Greetings from the Netherlands
Why do so many people refer to the 'Dubliners' original? Molly Malone has been sung in Ireland since at least 1883 and possibly much earlier, maybe even the late 17th century. Is there anyone alive today who can claim to have heard the original? This is a beautiful variation on a traditional and much loved song and no doubt one of many versions over the many years that have past since it was first written.
The song version, the musicality, the garjus video (THOSE EYES!) are all nearly perfect. Anyone who disagrees is daft. Period. Wander off and listen to any old crap you like - this is brilliant stuff. bite me.
At first I hated this version, but after listening all the way through I decided I really enjoy this version. I have listened to this several times now. Her voice is beautiful, I wish she sang more songs!
I'm from belgium. I find this cover fantastic. Wonderful voice, and pretty rythm. Legendary songs are also made to be revisited. Thx, please send me the tabs, i would song it with my group.
hey, i think molly malone would have liked to have an upbeat song to remeber her by, not a dirge or funeral march. i would have. the greatest reward to her hard work should be to make people happy with this wonderful song. i think she is smiling when ever she hears her song, for she lives on through song. that is my veiw on this subject.
hmmm maybe i was being a bith harsh its starting to grow on me infact i like it lol its just a shock to hear it as al my life life heard it by the dubliners,.. thanks for keeping ireland alive ;)xX
Love this version but I'm American Irish...and we americans are radicals with Irish roots. So mea culpa to anyone who feels the need to deprive us of our heritage and what we've done with it through nothing less than natural progression.
I think when an innocent remake can polarize the audience so effectively, you've got something. Being able to create a near-perfect reverse bell-curve on likes and dislikes is very impressive. Just stay on course, and always remember that extreme criticism AND extreme praise both are spawns of the confederacy of dunces with which we must all suffer. I'll give you a thumbs-up, but not digitally (pun intended), for I wish to remain a dissident among said tribe. To translate: "I got nothing."
Je suis française.. On apprend "Molly Malone" et je doit la savoir par coeur pour demain.. Je m'entraine donc mais je n'aime pas tellement la version des "Dubliners" donc je m'entraine avec celle là qui est beaucoup mieu ! :) ♥
I think some of y'all need to lighten up a bit. They took a traditional song and had fun with it, perhaps appealing to someone who has never heard it before. Folk songs are not static; I can well imagine that whoever wrote this song might be appalled at the Dubliners' version... Many a time have I heard a version of an old song that I had never heard before...and then I searched out all the versions I could find.
All of the haters should really try another profession. This version is musically sound. Sorry if you want nothing but jigs and reels. Lighten up and try to enjoy life for a change..lest your life becomes so narrow you suffocate.
You're a good singer, just pick the right songs, when you cover traditional songs, keep them traditional, you can't re-do them, you just can't, you'll acutally piss off people instead of making them feel good, which still is the purpose of music. xx
True that the melody is different, and perhaps not what everyone likes, but isnt that what Irish music is all about? Doing old classics in new and inventive ways? Something to think about.
@orinta5064 the original version was sung in ww1, so no, it wasn't made by them (i think, i'm not sure) but i read a book about ww1 and they sung it...
@ndbathan If you find a good version send a link my way. I like the Dubliners version but the best I've ever heard was in a pub in Killarney by some local band.
@licme13 I'm actually Irish and you can tell by her accent that she is too, although her version want as good as the traditional way fair play to her for trying
call me old fashioned, but I feel like this song should be left with the original dictation/ beautiful slow moving melody. It's a great pop interpretation though! It shows a different aspect of this song that I've never heard. Great job on the music and video!
wat a stunning voice this young lady has,and a great rendition of great old song, well done guys

One of the best performances of this song I have found on RUclips. And I have collected 51 versions! Thank you for sharing this with us.
The rendition is a bit different, but does not change the quality of the song. How could 400 people not like this song or the artists? Well, more like it than don't. Thanks for the opportunity to hear you. Great job.
It's a wonderful version of the song and despite what anyone says she is beautiful; maybe that's why I keep coming back to listen...

Not many people can take an old song and put a new spin on it and it be good but She did it and did it well! 5/5!
come on now people. i love the original song, but as far as new version of old classics go this was really well done.
I like it! Can't get it out of my head. Nice to keep songs alive for each generation...as long as everyone is also aware of the original. Nicely done presentation, too. Slainte.

Great job guys. Definitely a purchase of mine on iTunes.
Some fantastic songs such as Molly Malone, this is one of those times when some one screws with a traditonal song that doesn't need to be changed.
A beautiful contemporaty rendition of a traditional classic.
i am irish and i love how they did this song

Osobiście bardo mnie się podoba ta wersja...
Wymaga piosenka prostoty interpretacji i muzyki..
Somewhere the dubliners are crying themselves to sleep.
Merci ma prof d'anglais je suis en 4👏
People. Can somebody tells me thats accord use in this song? More specifically altered the original sequence of chords.(goo.tra.)
@ndbathan If you find a good version send a link my way. I like the Dubliners version but the best I've ever heard was in a pub in Killarney by some local band.
