Lyrics : In Dublin's fair city Where the girls are so pretty I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone As she wheeled her wheelbarrow Through streets broad and narrow Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh!" Alive, alive, oh Alive, alive, oh Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh" She was a fishmonger And sure 'twas no wonder For so were her father and mother before And they both wheeled their barrows Through streets broad and narrow Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh Alive, alive, oh Alive, alive, oh Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh She died of a fever And no one could save her And that was the end of sweet Molly Malone But her ghost wheels her barrow Through streets broad and narrow Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh Alive, alive, oh Alive, alive, oh Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh Alive, alive, oh Alive, alive, oh Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh
Molly Mallone 3rd verse I was a rover and I sailed the seas over. So I bid farewell to sweet Molly Mallone. But the wild winds were wailing as I was a sailing. Singing cockles etc. Etc.
Dear Hardcastle & Scott, please drop a line and let us know where we can hear each of you if you're not singing/playing together any longer. Love this series! Found it through the Hateful Eight, but damn, I love most of these songs now. In case I never hear back, I wanted to tell ya'll thanks for the music. Michael
I dig it! This song cracks me up. It seems that there should be at least one more verse about Molly before listeners learn that she has died to justify having her as a subject of a song. Otherwise, listeners are really just informed that Molly is 1. a fish monger 2. a descendant of fish mongers and 3. dead. haha. In any case, you guys did a great job!
there actually is another verse :but i was a rover , and sailed the seas over , so i bid my farewell to sweet molly malone , and as i was waving the wild wind was wailing , crying cockles and mussles alive alive-o , this comes before the last verse when she dies.
i'm new to this song and discovered it from sinead o conner , i totally love it , but why do so many leave out the 3rd verse? , which is :but i was a rover , and sailed the seas over , so i bid my farewell to sweet molly malone , and as i was waving the wild wind was wailing , crying cockles and mussles alive alive-o
Very sweet performance!
This is the first time I hear this song and I love it so much. I will try to sing and play as well. Thanks ❤

Lyrics :
In Dublin's fair city
Where the girls are so pretty
I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone
As she wheeled her wheelbarrow
Through streets broad and narrow
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh!"
Alive, alive, oh
Alive, alive, oh
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh"
She was a fishmonger
And sure 'twas no wonder
For so were her father and mother before
And they both wheeled their barrows
Through streets broad and narrow
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh
Alive, alive, oh
Alive, alive, oh
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh
She died of a fever
And no one could save her
And that was the end of sweet Molly Malone
But her ghost wheels her barrow
Through streets broad and narrow
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh
Alive, alive, oh
Alive, alive, oh
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh
Alive, alive, oh
Alive, alive, oh
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh
Great cover...🎵👏👏☘

A sweet song sung by a beautiful woman!
Don, I must admit that I'm slightly in love with her myself. Sweet voice and she seems like a lot of fun.

"Written in space". 😂
My Canadian grandmother taught me this tune. This is the closest version to what she taught me I could find. Love you, Grandma Florence Burry Stevens.
