RVV-BD is the commercial name for the export version of the new Russian heavy and very long-range hypersonic AAM type R-37M ( military designation) or Product 610M ( developer/producer's designation ).Designer/producer designation of the export version is Product 620. Product 610M or R-37M for RuA&SF is in serial production from 2015 in plant called PO 'Strela' in the city of Korolev and in operational use on MiG-31BM from 2016 .In fact, this is Russian modified version of the old Soviet AAM called K-37 /Product 610/ which was developed for the MiG-31M in the 1980's. Besides MiG-31BM ,Su-35S and Su-30SM2 also have posibilities to carry this AAM. MiG-31BM can carry max 4 of them ( under the fuselage ) on the catapult launchers type AKU-410-1. Max authorised launch distance with launch parameter Drmax 1 ( engaging big incoming non-maneuvering air target ) can be more then 400kms / launch parameters : Hmax=20-22kms,Vreal max= 2.8 Mach or 3000km/h of IAS / with loft scenario / max height of the missile's flight is 50 kms/. Su-35S and Su-30SM2 can carry max 8 ( eight ) of them : 4 under the fuselage/ 2 between air intakes and engine nacelles and 2 under air intakes / and 4 under the wings on the catapult launchers type AKU-620. Max authorised launch distance with launch parameter called ''Drmax 1'' /engaging big incoming non-maneuvering air target / is 300kms with launch parameters: Hmax=18kms,Vreal max= 2.35 Mach or 2500km/h of IAS/. MiG-31BM can launch R-37M on target/s that flies/fly max 15kms up or down so if he flies at 20kms ,can engage target that flies on 35kms. Su-35S on the other side has one technical and tactical advantage and it is steerable radar antenna that can move up and down / move left-right and can roll/or with upward or downward direction. So he can fly very low but can engage targets that fly very high in upper stratosphere,also can fly very high and can engage low flying targets . R-37M has new modified propulsion with new solid rocket fuel and double-stage rocket engine which has new single chamber and in comparison with old Soviet K-37 has much better energetic/kinematic potential. Vmax ( true air speed ) is Mach 6 after the end of post-launch acceleration.Launch weight is almost 600 kgs.R-37M has new Titanium made wing but the main difference is in the radar seeker. New Russian multi-band radar seeker type 9B1103M-350 called 'Shayba' from the company 'Agat' with new fiber-optic gyroscopes that work in two radar bands. Ku-band is used for ARH mode and X-band for SARH mode ( same technical solution is used in radar seeker type 9B1103M-200PA in the new R-77-1). Both modes can be used separetly( one by one) or simultaneosly. It has new digit processing comp which has capacity of 50mil FLOPS. This seeker is more resistant on ECM then older 9B1388 in the K-37. Seeker 9B1103M-350 has very powerfull TWT and also thanks to antenna( flat plannar array with waveguides) diameter of 350mm ,it can lock on incoming target with RCS in Ku-band/ARH mode of 5sqm from 50kms. Same target can be locked on in SARH mode working in X-band from 100kms. It can lock on target inside 120° sector . Also there is much better strapdown INS (BINS ) that is used in first so called inertial guidance phase / mathematically modeled trajectory with proportional approximation/ , with two-way data-link/ radio-correction ( mid-course update ) channel and TVM-channel/ , with max range from the own or other fighter in the patrolling group of 100kms. New detail is the 'missile to missile data-link' ( grey right-angled panel behind the radar seeker).It is used as missile's intra flight data link or comm between missiles flying in the group. There is a new combined laser/radar proximity fuse with transmitt and receive antennas in the front and rear section of the missile's body. This AAM can be used in first against ( for engaging) big non-maneuvering air targets such as strategic and tactical bombers and recce aircraft, or strategic missile carriers, AWACS, air lifters and tankers, SIGINT,COMMINT ,ELINT aircraft, and so on and also it can be used for the interception of all kind of missiles, from low flying subsonic cruise missiles to high flying super or hypersonic ballistic or aero/quasiballistic missiles.R-37M can be launched in three combat modes: only radar mode in possible WVR combat scenario (real F&F mode), combined inertial-radar mode in BVR combat scenario ( INS with data-link/radio-correction in the first phase and ARH/SARH guidance in the terminal phase) and there is special combat mode called 'Tandem' where one fighter from patrolling group launches his missile/s in radio-silence mode and other tracks target/s and launched missile/s with sending them RC-signals. In BVR mode, it is possible to reprogramming missile in flight or to change target from one to another.This can be possible not only with sending data-link signals from fighter to missile but also with use of that new missile to missile data-link.
If we compare max launch distances ( in case of Su-35S) with western AAM ,e.g. US AIM-120D AMRAAM has 100kms max authorised launched distance against big incoming target and Europian MBDA Meteor has in this case 150kms. So R-37M has three times and twice the max launch distance.

In the meantime ,R-37M achieved new record in engagement against fighters .It happened on July this year when one Su-35S launched R-37M against ukr fighter MiG-29 from 213 kms and shot him down.

Active radar in front section of missile is the huge. In first glance i thought it was anti radiation missile. I think they have made this to accurately detect and track stealth aircraft

I would have to say most of the charators presented here was out of date 10 years ago not now in technology, taking into accout this missile is too heavy , too stupid , not agile enough for typical fighter targets, it is only suitable to attack the big planes lack of maneuverability, such as cargo and AWACS. Russia must focus its limited resouce to perspective weapons, such as the so called R-77M.

Then February 2023 deployed GREMLIN 1500km Hypersonic BVR Beyond Visual Range missile air to air to ground and Sea targets. Only those two missiles renderd whole Western Airforces obsolete. Moreover, Su-34 & Mig-31 use Kinzhal 2000km range Hypersonic missiles for sea and ground targets and new just deployed Zemyevik hypersonic missiles range 5000km. Not 200kms but 400kms when launched from MiG-31BM and 300kms when launched from Su-35S. In both cases with Hmax and Vmax launch parameters .
