    There were no Germans inside. There *were* plenty of monks and civilians inside, confident that the building wouldn’t be bombed because of its historical/religious significance.

      I don't know who told you that, but yes it was, the Germans were dug in on the hills.

      Not very, it was fully rebuilt by the monks after the war.

    visited today. Whoa, a bucket lister of which I was not aware. The Basilica will uncage your eyeballs, as will the Polish Army Cemetary, the guys given the final push order.
