Thank you so much for the instructional video and comments. As you did, l bought the Denali horn with added accessories which made it a "plug and play install" on my 2019 BMW GSA. Safe riding!
Al
Enjoy the new motorbike and be safe! I'm glad to have been some help. There is a demand for people seeking full installation with wiring that is not plug & play but I found this to be much simpler and should be trouble-free for many years.
I'm not suggesting anything wrong with this approach, but it is unnecessarily complicated for simply installing the Soundbomb horn. All that you need is an adaptor to connect existing horn plug to a relay. Then wire a +ve fused feed from the battery to relay & two wires from horn to relay and earth.
Awesome horn Adam. I recommend this horn especially if you have the Hex ezCAN. It is so easy to install...plug-n-play into the Hex ezCAN unit. Auxiliary lights flash with the horn blast. I do have to unbolt the horn and add a stainless steel star lock washer to eliminate the horn from swinging up (creeping forward) toward the forks. So yeah add a lock washer to the bolt and bracket.
Hi Adam. I went ahead and bought the whole set also. However, I extended the wires on the BMW CANbus adapter and ran straight to the horn. Seems to work just fine without the larger harness and relay.
Great to know! Thanks Breck
I connected This same horn on blue circuit, how many amps should i keep ?
I kept 5 amps initially, horn was not honking, then tried 15 amps which still is giving it a lag
I thought it was 15 or 30. …I’m feeling more like it should be 30.
@@AdamChandler86 is it okay to keep 25 amps on Horn circuit (blue)
I opened the instructions for the sound bomb and it says 30 amps so I would recommend keeping It there. but that's just based on their manual. I did 30 on my end. If you have no issues with 25, maybe it's fine.
@@AdamChandler86 can i keep 30 Amps on horn circuit and 15 Amps on D7 red circuit (as a pair)
This setting will not drain my battery right ?
How's the horn holding up fixed to the bracket? Did it come loose from riding? Did you have to tighten it up from time to time?
It’s great. No issues since then.
@@AdamChandler86 Thanks for the reply mate. Mine had come off when the bolt got loose from vibration. Might need to look into some anti vibration washers.
Great info, but we're running into a clearance problem - once the sound bomb is installed, the forks hit it. pushing all the way back, forward or in between. did you have to tweak the bracket somehow? 2014 gs1200
I did have an issue with clearance and hitting the forks. Had to make some adjustments but it's been fine since. it did require a revised arm from Denali that they installed at their shop for me. I drove my bike down there to have them inspect it after I had issues.
@@AdamChandler86 I'll be calling them today. They may have sent the wrong bracket kit. I includes the bracket and a M6x55 bolt, which is the wrong size for the upper fairing stay (it's a M8).
You can definitely tell them my story about the bracket install damaging my forks and see if you can get put in touch with one of the 2 guys who fixed me up.
@@AdamChandler86 OK, just got off the phone with them - WRONG BRACKET LOL! ordered the correct one, should install easily...
Awesome!
Thx or sharing this instruction video......... makes it so mutch easy'r to do the job :-)
Thanks Adam great video. Did you get a fault code on the dash while installing the soundbomb ? If yes, How did you clear it ?
Hello, no fault code on our R1200GS or F750GS. The big GS uses the direct to battery connection and the F750GS uses Denali's Can smart and that was a much easier install.
@@AdamChandler86 thanks
Adam, is the adapter to connect to the OEM harness (shown at 2:40 at your video) a male or a female ?
I’m mobile today so I can’t play it back but there is a “Denali bmw horn adapter” that’s around $20. Once you have that + power, the sound bomb works plug & play. You can search for that on Denali or Twisted throttle’s site.
@@AdamChandler86 nm can be seen later on in the video, apology for the trouble
awesome ... I subscribed ... thanks for the link here on my flickr post ...
Hi Adam, Thank you for this video, however, I'm getting confused to make my order since there are some people who say that all that you need is the BMW adapter without the battery wires? is it correct or is that makes a difference? Thanks.
I would reach out to Twisted Throttle if I were you. But my opinion is the electric wires are required because they come with a 30 amp fuse / relay. The OEM horn doesn't pull that much power while the sound bomb does.
“Sound....Bomb”
Can I install this horn in a Honda 160CC motorcycle?
It’s possible but you should probably call up Twisted Throttle and talk to their sales team. They keep a list of compatible bikes. This thing draws a lot of power when you’re on the horn and your stator may not have enough power.
@@AdamChandler86 Thank you!
How much body work do you HAVE to take off to install this?
For this. On a GSA, remove right upper crash bar bolt, and right fender then you’re good. Ideally it’s just easier to remove the fuel tank because you can better manage the wires.
Hey Adam, Over the winter I picked up a 15 GSA and have watched some of your vids about adding farkles. Very informative so thanks for that. Quick question for you? I’ve got Clearwater lights installed with the can opener on my bike. I believe you have that as well. With the can opener there is an extra lead for an aftermarket horn. Is there a reason you didn’t wire from that lead? I’m going to order the sound bomb this weekend as twisted throttle is have a Memorial Day sale. I’m trying to avoid adding more wires directly to the battery as I’ve already added a battery tender and heated gear lead directly to the battery. Thanks for the vids. Now I’m gonna go hit the subscribe button. Mike
Thanks for the video. What kind of black wire wrapping tape did you use at 7:38
amzn.to/2M6uG0h - only ended up using a roll though!
Aimed so debris can get into the sound unit over time ....doh .
That’s how Denali’s instructions are written.
