    These all look like 70s prog albums by a band that never made it out the local scene but will regale you with the tale of the time they opened for Rush and totally kicked ass.
    in short, they look awesome.

    When my uncle passed away he left me all his very cool 70’s vinyl, bowie, alice cooper ect

    Oh man. Adventure Construction Set was my absolute favorite C64 game. To this day, no other rpg maker ever allowed you the flexability that that one did. Every other rpg maker always forced you to stick to one theme or genera. That one let you invent themes, generas, graphics, spells, and everything from the ground up. To this day, I have yet to find an RPG maker that lets you do that. I still occasionally start up my C64 emulator and build with it. I even made games that aren't even RPG's, but could count as simple arcade games with it.

    This brought back so many memories of some of the earliest C64 and PC games we owned. I was able to share some stories of our family's earliest computer experiences with my oldest son (who as a toddler 20 years ago, literally learned to talk by "helping" Mom & Dad play computer games).

      Jacob Smith Well if you have an old "rotary paperweight" like that, why not show it off. Sturdy all-American ingenuity. So sturdy in fact, that one of those procedurals on TV had an episode where the killer used one on the skull of her unfortunate victim. Try that with your modern fancy-schmancy smartphone, Col. Mustard! ;)

    • @FantomLightning

    • @vwestlife
      @vwestlife 9 лет назад +1

      FantomLightning Those Western Electric rotary phones were built like tanks because they were rented, not sold. So whenever someone moved or died, the telephone company would take their phone, clean it up, and pass it on to a new customer. Broken phones would also get repaired and returned to service. So they were made to last for decades.

    • @cannibalisticrequiem
      @cannibalisticrequiem 9 лет назад +1

      ***** You got that right! I love those old rotary phones, even the push button ones, they're just so much fun! Plus there's nothing quite like that feeling you get when you angrily hang up on someone, and you slam the phone down on the receiever!

    Amazing video! I got into PC gaming little after when the traditional big box started to appear. Although, I still remember few LP sleeve style were still being sold at a discount bins. You can definitely tell the developers put their hearts into their game. It is shameful that kids today will never experience these extra contents unless dishing out extra for the collectors edition.

    I laughed when he nerd-gasmed over Star Flight. Let us know when you're done your three month hiatus, Clint. x)
    17:26 - 17:32 "I am getting SO into Star Flight, it is absurd, do not bother me for the next three months."
    ~Clint (LGR)
    Love Duke Nukem calling over the phone this episode, as well. B)
    14:03 - 14:36 "Ya, 'Balls of steel', ya, thanks." XD

    I remember having Pinball Construction Kit for the Commodore 64. Bill Budge later expanded on the concept with the Sega Genesis game Virtual Pinball (29 customizable tables and 10 slots to roll your own, with battery backup).
    On that note, EA did continue to credit their creators up to at least 92-93, at least where the Genesis was concerned. You'll find creators named on the covers of Virtual Pinball (Bill Budge), Desert Strike (Mike Posehn/EA) and Road Rash (Randy Breen, Dan Geisler and Walter Stein). These are the ones I have on-hand at the moment, but I'm pretty sure there's more.
    And that phone! I'm working from my desk right now and my dial-up phone (Nick and Nora style) is sitting right in front of my right speaker. Had to look twice to realize it wasn't my phone ringing :).

    During the time this style box was in vogue, I was an Amiga man. I'm sure I had at least The Faery Tale Adventure in the same LP style box, maybe Arctic Fox, maybe Marble Madness, and maybe Firepower too. All early American releases on the machine. You can imagine what an archaeologist or time-traveller from the future would make of the game packaging of times past: "What's this collection of paper, with strange symbols written on it? Could this be an actual 'manual'? Surely they're just a myth?!"

The hipsters would love'em and since most store boxed games are just download codes anyway, why not do it? You could use all that space to put emphasis back on the devs and stuff it with the cool extras again without having to worry about leaving space for a disc!
