@@Soulreclaimer65 Dang, I was thinking I def need the scarlett type connector. But, maybe I can start with just USB for VO work. Sometimes too many tools and settings makes it more complicated. Just want clean clear sound without having to learn too much equipment.
as far as clear and concise information goes, you can't get much better. really appreciate the know hows and knowledge you provide. helped me really understand what i am doing with the equipment i bought.
nice mic.. it would help to talk more about headphone monitoring and basic input routing settings in apps like Audacity, etc (that a lot of VO talent use) and proper settings to prevent headphone feedback loops. Great little mic for the price for sure.
I dont get it how do you get it to work because I plugged it in through xlr and connected the focusrite to the computer and theres no microphone detected it doesnt even light up to indicate it’s on
Hi there. Thank you for your very helpful video and nicely explained. It really helps a beginner like me. ☺️ I see you are using the usb cable at the begging of your video, therefor using a different microphone? Is there a big difference between using the usb cable and the Scarlett 2i2? Best wishes
I work in radio and I have a Focusrite 2i2. Currently, at home, I am running my mic through an MG06x (no USB), into the 2i2, then USB into my laptop. Giving me stereo recordings. (Requires 2 XLRs into the the 2i2). When I plug my sm58 into the 2i2, it only comes through the left channel of my track. (Recording with Adobe Aud 1.5). Yes, I can convert the track to mono and back, problem solved, but I’d like to setup the 2i2 to record in stereo using just one XLR? When I have to record clients or guests, it would really be handy. That way I could take the 2i2 and my laptop. ...and a mic.
Great video! I wanted to ask you do you know by any chance if I can use that audio interface with Audacity? I’m just starting and eventually I will upgrade the program I use for recording, but would it work with that one?
Great Video! I got Focusrite Scarlett Solo with my MV7. Some how I'm only able to get left channel recording. Is there something I'm missing. Please advice. It's working perfectly with USB.
Thank you! One thing to call out for fellow noobs: the lights on the Shure MV7 will not light up when you're using it like this. I had to turn on Direct Monitor on the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 and turn up the headphone volume to realize that sound was in fact coming through.
Great video, I will want to use this mic and the 2i2 for BOTH Zoom calls and to my Mirrorless camera. How can I do both? What settings do I need to look at? What cables would I need? Thank you.
I have an issue when I do not connect the USB cable to the Shure, my voice is hearable only to my left ear and when I connect the USB cable all is ok.. could you please help me? I also have some cutting during 4 secondes sometimes
Thank you so much for your extensive work in detailed version - Sub'd. Have a quick question - I bought the Shure MV7 & DT770 Pro 250ohm version - My use case scenario being Music listening/Movie watching/ Gaming / little bit of video editing with voice over. Im perplexed now to buy an amp or an audio interface or a mixer - could you please recommend of I should go with yamaha or focusrite given my use case scenario ? Thanks in advance and all the very best
Hello sir,I connected my mv7 to cloudfilter and cloudfilter is connected to scarlet 2i2 but in my pc mv7 is not showing on input options Sir please help me I don’t know what is going on with my setup. And it has been 2 months to order these thing now I can’t refund them.😢
I have a same mic shure mv7 (2021), should I get the scarlett 2i2 gen4 or motu m4! please let me know 😀 i want to use the mic for streaming and recording has well!
Unfortunately I can't get this mic to work on XLR cable, it's not turning on... Everything else is working and all settings are checked many times, everything is working, except the mic has no power still 🤷🤷🤷
So I have DT 1990 Headphones, Shiit Magni Hersey and Modi 3+ AMP/DAC and now looking for a good interface for my Shure MV7 Mic. Which would you say is best between Scarlett 2i2, TC Helicon GoXLR-Mini or NEW Elgato Wave XLR Interface?
Hey, thanks for the video who was super useful to me. Is there a way to get a mic return from the Scarlett, the same way you got it with Motiv software when my mic was USB and my headphones connected to it? I switched to the scarlett when I bought a DT 770, but I'm missing hearing my voice the same time I talk. Thanks!
Hi! I have a problem with my audio recording, suddenly it sounds metallic and the S effect is high, looks like it takes all the high frequencies. I have a soundproof booth equipped with Scarlett 2i2, and Shure MV7. I wanna fix the problem as soon as possible since I work full time on it, and editing the recording is not bringing any good. Is there anyone that can help or had the same problem? Cheers!!!
Hey hey. Very interesting video - thank you. A short question since my major purpose is to conduct virtual meetings. Is it possible to mute the mic connected to the Scarlett using the mute functionality within Mac OS? I.e. going to audio midi - input do Rothe mic and set the mute check? Thanks very much
The scarlett is the interface? In sound settings in windows you can under properties choose one channel instead of 2 which it's set to by default. That or if you're using obs there is a downmix to mono feature
If you use the XLR cable, the features of the mic no longer work. Or in simple words, you can only use those features that mic came with is you power it via provided USB that you got with the microphone.
Discord sounds awful with these 2 devices. I recorded my audio and it sounds really clean and amazing in audacity but in discord it's all muffled, cut off, and it sounds like I'm underwater. Any solutions for this?
Most likely Discord's noise suppression and "Krisp" suppression settings being turned on. Try turning them off since your mic and interface will be handling all of that work for you.
I'm honestly at a loss man idk where else to turn to, I use to have a condenser mic hooked up via USB. To my understanding, using a USB connection makes background noise much more likely to be caught by the mic, AKA the mic is a lot more sensitive, but honestly, even with your EXACT same setup (minus headphones being used with it) it is even more sensitive than it is with my old USB mic. I thought these kinds of mics were suppose to be the opposite, mainly only picking up your voice. Tried using focuslite software didn't really do anything.
can i just connect the mic using xlr into my pc audio jack or do i have to spend more money on your shit mic? getting a scarlet because the thing is too damn quiet
This is the first video that I found that actually showed me what I need. Thank you
thanks for making this video, as a newbie i really take a lot from videos like this so i can learn to use my Scarlett for my podcast .
It would be interesting to hear the difference in sound between the USB connection and the Scarlett 2i2
this was the reason I ended up here I wanted to see the difference.

Would a cloudlifter be necessary for the shure mv7 and if it is with the help removing background noise?
I got one and with cloudliifter you can use the phantom power s
Which gives you some clean dB

can you guys also make video for that, please.?

what can i use to tweak stuff like EQ or noise gate and stuff like that for recordings?
XLR vs USB which one good for course , elearning video's ..
