Great tips! I would add also from personal experience: I have noticed that because the hourglass figure is so feminine, it’s just too hard to pull off the casual, edgy, modern, androgynous style. On me personally, when I try to experiment, it looks a bit funny and not cool at all. As much as I like that look, the more feminine pieces look the best on me. The fashion industry is more geared towards the less-curvy body shapes, as well and a lot of times it’s hard to find well suited pieces. Lots of hugs 🤗
100% agree. I find it hard to wear many styles of pants because it looks “funny” on my figure. Or either I look manly because you just see the broadness and not the contours
Omg this is amazing. I'm 19 and have a hourglass body shape naturally. I am learning to love my body but its hard because most girls my age are very slim and athletic. I have big breast and hips since I was like 13. It's really hard to shop for myself because for example jeans are always either big on the waist or small at the hips. I don't really know how to dress appropriately for my age to not look "sexy". This video really helped. Thank you ❤
I feel you I'm the same way, I look around and most girls have this amazing top model body shape and here I am with a hour glass shape and it makes me feel super insecure and overweight.
@@arabicempress yeah that's exactly what I meant. Like people say that hourglass is the best and most beautiful and stuff but being it in the middle of people who aren't is very hard. I wish I lived in Marilyn Monroe's times. My shape is very similar with hers.

Fit and flare dresses are so good for this body shape. Love your recommendations about the belts too. The cropped jackets tend to flare out at the bust and give an appearance of imbalance and girth at least for me. I prefer a longer jacket or light sweater that is belted in a flowy material. Thank you Frederique!
Haha! I am an hourglass and I wish I had your body shape! It’s difficult to find pants don’t even mention low rising 90s pants) at least now they are high waisted… even if you have a bit of a tummy as an hourglass it’s hard to wear fitted cloths and if you wear baggy you look like you weigh 30 pounds more 😅
I am a 5’10” hourglass and I find it so hard to find clothes that fit. Plain, tailored clothes definitely look best on my body. You are so right about V-Necks - they are pretty much all I wear. I have tried scoop-neck tops in the past and they make me look absolutely enormous. One of my fashion dreams is a long Chanel pearl necklace but every time I try one on it just looks awful. I can’t quite figure out why.
Hey girl, our bodies have so much going on that we look best in small, understated jewelry. A small pearl necklace that’s almost a choker would look gorgeous on you!
Me too! I practically gave up on finding clothes that look good and fit. I just wear men's shirts or tank tops and leggings because that's all that's ever long enough.

I felt so flattered by watching this since I usually hate my hips so I deeply appreciate this video. Im a VERY petite hourglass and yes I adore rompers specially of they are flowy and a bit loose in the hip area. Anything belted or tied around the waist works
Glad you defined so clearly what fabrics work well on this body type. Thanks for noting how advantageous high-waisted pants can look on this type of body. Nice to see how well the wrap dress and jumpsuit can look. Beneficial to see so many weights within the body type shown.

Great video, you are so right about belts, ever since i have invested in some nice belts you cannot find me without them, I also wanted to add though that I looooove square necklines and find them way more flattering than v necks, same for my sisters who are also hourglass
Check out the Kibbe body typing system. It factors in your face shape, bone "girth," and lines of your body - all of which factor into what type of clothing is flattering.
Thank you so much for this video Frédérique! So many good tips! When I was in the corporate world and had to wear suits I had a lot of trouble finding ones that fitted nicely around the waist. It's hard having biggish boobs as jackets or blazers that don't fit well just made me look kilos heavier. If they fitted around the boobs they were often too big around the waist. Cue the shapeless dumpy look. What I used to do, to look a bit more glam, was to replace the boring buttons on them with nice ones; my Mum had a box of buttons from clothing made in the 1940s and 1950s so I had some super vintage buttons to use. It drew people's eyes to the cool buttons rather than the fit. A tip is to always, always buy fitted t-shirts. I loathe the old fashioned straight tees as again that's a one way trip to looking dumpy. We hourglass girls are usually pretty well endowed in the boob department and straight tees or untailored shirts that hang straight from the boobs are very unflattering. I don't really like the shell tops, either - the ones that are a little bit full and puff around your waist. It hides the fact I HAVE a waist after years of eating carefully to get it back (I used to be 9kgs heavier and hated that). Crossover tops are a much better friend.
I'm 63 now and still have a decent figure but when I was 17, my measurements actually were 36x24x36". I had a hard time buying clothes that fit, had to take in the waist on my jeans several inches, and felt like my figure was more of an annoyance than an asset. Since then, I quit smoking and put on enough weight with menopause that my waist has thickened. It's actually easier to buy clothes that fit and I'm more at home in my body. I even own 3 jumpsuits and still enjoy wearing them.
I was 36x26x34 (BxWxH), a little small in the hips, thighs and bottom, but basically an hourglass, still am at 62, but my waist is less defined, thanks to hormonal changes after 40.🙂
I'm an hourglass and I LOVE peplums but I also have a long torso and find many peplums are too short. I'm glad high waisted pants are everywhere! And high-waisted, wide leg....the best! I never thought a jumpsuit would look good on me but I purchased 2 this summer and I LOVE them! I was pleasantly surprised. They are from Pretty Garden on Amazon. I think I paid $30 each...and it's a whole outfit!
Love your video, very, very informative. You are right about jumper suits, they are my absolute favorite. What I found somewhat difficult with having hourglass body shape is that I have to tailor almost everything to proper fit me (my waist just to small for clothes I buy). Beside this I have no complains. I love your pants suggestions (you gave me few ideas which I will definitely use).

Love your videos you make me laugh so much!! 🥳🥳🥳 I’m a petite hourglass and agree with all your tips! I absolutely love wearing jumpsuits 👌 great job on this video!
My hips and shoulders were always about two inches too narrow for a perfect hourglass shape, I have a really small frame, and my waist thickened a bit in menopause, but I’m still essentially an hourglass shape, if a little less curvy than some.
Hi Frederique, I tried a jump suit in a shop but being a petite I didn’t like the look on me so much. Plus the inconvenience of having to practically undress just to go to the bathroom.
Also I agree with another commenter that fashion is not geared to those who do have an hourglass figure. Much of it is geared to flat chested girls with a rectangular shape, preferably tall as well. I am finding some pieces that look good and some that need adjustment and will just have to buy classics and hold on to them.
I'm a true hourglass and curvy (not overweight). I find American styles are not very flattering on me. Perhaps it's the current trend in fashion but I cannot find decent places to shop. What boutiques do you suggest for perfect staples?
I watched because I took notes the second time always struggled with fit because you do not want to look cheap. Would love hourglass and short tips as my legs are short and stocky bad combo skirt tips too love you

I stay away from T shirts unless the very rare cap sleeve, tanks or long sleeves shoved up to 3/4 for me. I hate highwaist, I wear low rise skinny with a body huggung knit to show off my natural waist - my waist dosent seem to be where it should be so I stay away from anything belted tailored waist. Great tips. 175cm
I have very broad shoulders and waist but I find I also look more feminine when I wear white on the bottom half and black on the top half. Never the other way around
Me, too, I love wearing white/light on the bottom, I think it’s more chic and flattering. I’m almost an hourglass, but my hips, legs etc., are a little thin and lack curves.
I’m still not sure what I am I can fall into several places I am more narrow on my shoulders but I have a smaller waist then my shoulders and my hips and my hips are my biggest part but I have a small waist for my big size.
Yes, I LOVE a knee length sheath dress! Perfect if you have long legs, like me ..... but unfortunately I look silly in high waisted things and have to do a midrise to avoid looking like a spider :P Haha. :)
At my corporate office, we couldn’t show bare shoulders (I’ve been retired for a long time, now women wear sleeveless everywhere). Now that I’m post-menopause, my arms are so awful that I don’t want to show them, but even short sleeves are too hot for our summers. A loose, sleeveless linen dress is all I can stand June through September, often October, too.
hello Frederique, I just found your channel and I love it! I did research and I should be an hourglass body shape, but with almost no boobs lol... I have wide shoulders and hips, and defined waist. Do you have any tips on how to style my body shape?
Trick where your waist is by wearing a belt a bit lower - I would recommend you to get my styling course I talk about the best clothes, looks, ect… for your shape and others link in the description x
I'm nearly 67 yrs old and have had a love/hate relationship with my hourglass figure most of my life . I lost my shape with some weight gain for about 10 yrs but having since lost that weight my shape is back . i'm still somewhat embarrassed by it wearing baggy tops to disguise my fuller bust . The attention that comes from dressing in a figure revealing fashion draws more looks than I want at my age . My preference would be to have a more athletic shape but as you say - we always want what we don't have .
I am 74 and have decided to show my curvee...when I do I honestly look MUCH younger than I am...I cannot do the androgenous look. I like midi and maxi skrts usually but always a skirt makes my body look nicer and make me look more approachable and more feminine. Anything loose on me looks awgul amd dowdy.
Having a larger bust has always made me feel conspicuous, it’s not like I can help it! Adult men starting asking me on dates by age 12, they never believed that I wasn’t an adult (my Dad set them straight). I always tried to hide my bombshell figure when young, but I’m finally coming to accept it. It only took 50 years! Now age 62.
Greetings from paris. Bises
Hello, Frederique. It's nice that you appreciate the curvy figure in a world that worships skinny, skinny women. However, I disagree with much of what you say. You measure the figure going by hips and shoulders, taking no account of the bustline. A smaller bust must dress differently from a larger bust. Personally, my shoulders are tiny, but my bust is close to my hip size and my legs are very short. I do like the peplums, tunics, and longer tops, but if I wear them I look like a penguin. On the other hand, hip-riding bottoms draw the eye to my hips and away from my waist, making my legs look even shorter. My solution has been to wear higher-waisted pants and counter balance by using jackets, blazers, vests, and other layers together with instep-length pants and maxi skirts create the best illusion.
General body shape is based only on shoulders, waist and hip widths. Bust size is a separate issue, as it can vary across all shapes, especially in these days of implants.
Hello my lovelies, tell me in the comments what is your body shape and learn lots of love xxx 😍 Frederique

Great tips. 175cm
Thank you for sharing and liking xx
I have an hourglass figure, however, I am short waisted with long legs .... do you think you could address this?
Yesssss.. Are you petite?
what is your height?
Me too.5’9”
@@ms.frederique I'm 5'1"
I have very broad shoulders and waist but I find I also look more feminine when I wear white on the bottom half and black on the top half. Never the other way around
Thank you for sharing and liking xx
Me, too, I love wearing white/light on the bottom, I think it’s more chic and flattering. I’m almost an hourglass, but my hips, legs etc., are a little thin and lack curves.
Envy this body shape. When I gain weight, it goes straight to my bottom and thighs. This body type has an even weight gain distribution.
I’m still not sure what I am I can fall into several places I am more narrow on my shoulders but I have a smaller waist then my shoulders and my hips and my hips are my biggest part but I have a small waist for my big size.
hmmm maybe an apple? did you measure your body to be exact?
@@ms.frederique I will do that , then go back and see which one best fit me.
What kind of shorts should a hour glass woth long legs wear?
Yes, I LOVE a knee length sheath dress! Perfect if you have long legs, like me ..... but unfortunately I look silly in high waisted things and have to do a midrise to avoid looking like a spider :P Haha. :)
lol
What's the meaning of the purple small stuff on ur suit?
❤❤❤
I am 5'1" hourly glass figure . Very curvy. I notice dress look good on me

I am 4'11 and an hourglass. How can i wear high waisted jeans without making me look shorter?
I have many, many hours glass body shape
xxxx
I have an hour glass shape but am very short waisted with long legs. I need length in my upper body but still want to show my waist. Any advise?
Trick where your waist is by wearing a belt a bit lower - I would recommend you to get my styling course I talk about the best clothes, looks, ect… for your shape and others link in the description x
I'm nearly 67 yrs old and have had a love/hate relationship with my hourglass figure most of my life . I lost my shape with some weight gain for about 10 yrs but having since lost that weight my shape is back . i'm still somewhat embarrassed by it wearing baggy tops to disguise my fuller bust . The attention that comes from dressing in a figure revealing fashion draws more looks than I want at my age . My preference would be to have a more athletic shape but as you say - we always want what we don't have .
you are fabulous pavla love xxxx
Now age 62.
I am an hourglass type but I do not like to show skin or being sexy, I never find clothes for me :( Thanks for the tips
merci pour cette video super intéressante? moi je suis de morphologie X bonne soirée
alors c'est parfait pour toi xxx
And… fashion tends to make clothes for flatter chests and pants for “straight” effect.
Greetings from paris. Bises
merci marie-gaelle pa facile de trouver les photos des heures de recherches :) x
@@ms.frederique C'est vrai que tout cela est chronophage. Merci pour tout ce travail.
I have the same problem. My legs are really short for my height.
General body shape is based only on shoulders, waist and hip widths. Bust size is a separate issue, as it can vary across all shapes, especially in these days of implants.
Im hourglass but have a short torso.

I'm an inverted triangle: will you be treating that?
