      I am having a terrible time NOW getting fitted I went to Saks in Chicago I live abroad.
      I spent almost $150. The fitter fitted me with too small a band trynto give me support ... I am 76 slightly large breasts BUT both bras are unwearble. After removing tags and wearing for 2 hours they kept my lungs from expanding! I could not BREATHE PROPERLY and I had DEEP indentation where the bra bamd had been. Imhave never put either on SINCE! What a waste of money! I then went to SOMA for sleep type bras because I wear t old ones by Bali that fit perfectly but need replacing. Those supported me for YEARS but the fitter at Saks didnt have any and said the ones I have inmthe fabric I have are no lomger made...grrr. So I had heard of SOMA SLEEP bras somI went there and bought two they felt okay when I tried them on BUT the fabric left my breat slip out underneath the bamd as if body heat had made that bamd WAY more stretchy...it also let my breasts droop tremendously over wear of about an hour! Yikes. The fabric was too stretchy terrible for women my age. So close to $300 WASTED!!!! Bras and these days becoming imposdible for me to fimd rather lile the shoe problem I have always had...narrow heel and they dont make AaHeel B fronts anymore...since slingbacks are in now I will shop for shoes this year as it isnt hard to find B front shoes as for bras I am stumped! Wy too saggy to go braless.....ugh.

      @latinaalma1947 If you're back in the States in August, Kohls has scheduled Fit Events most of the month. In October, Wacoal does limited Events at major retailers in the USA. Depending on your budget Wacoal is a very good bra. They do run sales. Vanity Fair is reasonably priced and they run sales online and in Kohls. (DISCLAIMER ...I worked for VF for 19 years). VF does a great wirefree full figure bra. I know Dillard's and Bloomingdale's have trained sales staff, but I would call for an appointment. I wish you luck.

      @@latinaalma1947 one more thing....because you have heavy breast tissue DO NOT be talked into a minimizer bra. That compression has to go somewhere and it's usually up around your neck. I usually don't recommend a sleep bra but I understand if you want one. Get a pull over your head bra. If you have shoulder issues they should be stretchy enough to pull up. Remember, sleep bras have zero support.

    Thank you so much for this! Your content is stellar! You've answered my question as to what type of shorts would look best on my body type! Bermudas for me! I have a short waist and fuller bust. It's difficult to find summer clothing that doesn't cover me up like a tent or look too clingy. Will keep an eye out for those lighter-weight knit tops and shift dresses that have been tailored to my proportions. Will keep to the softer bias-cut skirts as well. Appreciated!

    Silvana! Loved this video (as usual!) This video contains such fundamental concepts that are applicable to any body shape because you stated the general principles as well e.g. balance, proportion....necklines that are flattering to complement a small or larger bust etc. Thank you! :)

    everything you said! In US sizes my bust is M, waist length very short, waist is S,, hips are M/L, shoulders about the same width as my hips but only fit into size 2XL (except sometimes the sleeves are too short).
    unfortunately I haven't found the right *local* tailor, so I don't actually own any buttoned up shirts. jeans, or anything woven aside from a few full skirts right now. Even my knit clothing has been made to my measurements by online sellers that do custom work). until I can find a good close-by tailor, I'd rather stick to the clothing in just a few silhouettes that actually makes me look put together (and put work into creating variety through my accessories), than look sloppy in a much wider variety of silhouettes!

    • @silvanapatrick_stylist
      @silvanapatrick_stylist  15 дней назад +1

      Hi Stephanie, I hear you. The key is to not feel like there's something wrong with us but know that it's an industry issue and keep looking for a good tailor, I am sure you will eventually find one and make friends for life. Good luck.

      @@silvanapatrick_stylist I'm around your age, so I agree! Over time I've learned to enjoy having the body type I do! Unfortunately, that enjoyment does not make the process of finding, altering, or commissioning well-fitting new pieces even the slightest bit easier or less expensive!

    What a pleasure it was to watch your video. I am 5 feet 1 inch and very, very curvy. You have demonstrated side by side clothes that flatter such as v or scoop necklines versus turtle necks. The best length shorts to wear look best slightly fitted and knee length. I have some very nice suit jackets and blazers but they are too long for my frame. I have stood before a full length mirror and folded the hem if the jacket to just below my waist and what a difference! Unfortunately, the placement of pockets on the long jackets makes shortening them impossible. When available I buy cropped jackets.

    Thankyou for this video it really helped when you said to dress for your body parts I have always thought I was Rectangle with a curve or Hourglass without too defined a waist or bigger boobs either way you made me see to define my smaller part which is my waist rather than widen it with boxier tops 👌❤️

  • @Lisa-sp5if
    @Lisa-sp5if 4 месяца назад

    That’s one of the things I struggle with… I really can’t tell if I have a short waist or not. It’s at the very most normal length, and sometimes I am more drawn to midrise pants than high-rise… Just as long as the high-rise aren’t ultra high-rise like some are showing now. I have an hourglass body, oretty thin with a fairly small waist and what’s left of 34d bust, I’ve lost a lot of weight in the past 12 years, so I’m always trying to get the girls up where they used to be, lol! Your tips and your passion for what you do are always inspiring to me… I love that you have your own sense of style and I see it over and over again. It’s really inspiring! Could you go a little bit more to you if you are short or long or short or long legged?

      Hi Kristine, glad you enjoyed it. Yes, mid rise is the perfect compromise. Make sure you get leg length somehow like wearing a bit of heel or matching the color of the pant with shoe, etc.

    You looked great in the jumpsuits and I also though the shorter shorts left the attention on your upper body as they were the dame distance from the waist or seemed to be so they did look good.

    I’m an hour glass shape with a very short torso and large bust, for me wearing high rise pants is not a comfortable fit,the pants are just inches from my bust line,so I wear mid rise pants and that fits me well
