donald sawyer The Howells were 54 and 67 when the show ended, not 85!!😂 Still old enough to not be surprised they’re not alive today though. Mrs Howell would be 120 if she was still alive!!😂🤣
Russell Johnson, who played the professor on "Gilligan's Island," died Jan. 16, 2014(1 Year ago today) Johnson died at his home in Washington state of natural causes, His wife, Constance, said he died of kidney failure. "He died at home, peaceful, in his sleep at 5:21 a.m. He was 89 and the last surviving male star from the classic 1960s sitcom-which famously listed all of its characters in the more well-known version of its iconic opening theme song.Johnson retired from acting in the 1990s but still made Gilligan's Island-related appearances in more recent years, Married three times, Johnson is survived by his wife, actress Constance Dane, stepson Courtney Dane and daughter Kim from his second marriage............... ... another castaway has left the island for good.R.I.P "Professor"
These people are my favorite and some are good people that are funny to me. The show was always be my favorite and always will be. I watch this show every day
I also met Bob Denver at a dinner theater in El Paso, Tx were he played Felix in The Odd Couple. I asked him if he had done it before and he said no. I then asked how long they had rehearsed “ 2 days” he said. No wonder he was so good at all he did. Brilliant guy.
My friend and I were walking through a casino in the afternoon and saw Adam West by himself at the bar waiting for Dawn Wells for some convention they were guest starring at. It was so cool asking him all about the show, who his favorite cat-woman was, stuff like that. I asked him to leave a message on my families answering machine and he did! Then after about 20 mins or so, Dawn came walking up and gave me a great big hug. I told her she was always my favorite. She was very down to earth.
This photo of me was when I was 21yrs old. You would not give me a second glance now. Sadly, we all have to get old. Some of the people that have commented, have not looked into a mirror, and have they entertained us? Who remembers "Laugh In"? that show kept me laughing all thru the program. God Bless those who "ENTERTAINED US" Not like today's programs.
Gilligan's Island was ALWAYS in the top 5 for the 3 years it was on. And it was cancelled ONLY because a studio head's wife - played bridge on Friday nights - and preferred to watch "Gunsmoke" instead of Gilligan's Island - so Gilligan's Island was moved from Friday Night 8:00 to Tuesday Night 8:30 - then another move to Thursday Night - 9:00 and then it was taken off the air. And the "lagoon" was paved over - to be the new studio parking lot! And Ginger rarely spoke to anyone on the cast!!!
My art teacher used to put this whenever we drew. At first I didn't want to watch it I thought that it was too old until I paid attention and actually found it funny.
I hate to know bob had throat cancer. I had throat cancer also been in remission for about three years. But i have to talk with a device. I had to have my vocal cords removed to be able to live. Didnt know bob had it to .
I got to meet the Skipper back in the early 80's when I went to the Lobster Barrel with my family for my birthday. He was so nice and sweet and even kissed my hand!!! I'll never forget that!

I'm sorry about the many complaints of Tina's photo. That photo was taken on March 7, 2010. (9 months earlier of the video was made) therefore, that is the latest photo of Tina.
I must agree, very poor picture choice for Tina Louise (I thought it was a man in drag) but in your defense there really aren't many good ones because time has not been kind to the sultry beauty queen. Tina was looking great in her heyday but Dawn Wells has held on to her beauty (their hatred for each other has not left its mark on Dawn's face). Thanks so much for the "Where are they" upload :) Subbed & Many Blessings even to the dirty minded boys below lol
justin case She is pushing 80 for Gods Sake!!! It is part of life. At least she never got fat. You want her to look like Ginger? Ginger probably was in her late 20s or early 30s. Give the woman a break.
In the opening footage, the aerial shot of the Minnow heading out to sea was shot in southern California. The water channel is actually the breakwater between the Newport Beach wedge and Corona Del Mar.
I watched a show about the gilligan's island cast. You may have seen it. It's called Surviving Gilligan's Island". It turns out that Tina Louise is one of the most vile, insolent human beings on the planet. Truly a shallow and unkind woman. It is laughable. She is far over rated in her own mind. Even if she was extremely talented and beautiful, which she is not and her career is proof of that, her opinion of herself and treatment of others would be repulsive. Pretty is as pretty does which makes her very ugly. I loved the rest of the cast and it seems that they were all very close and cohesive. It is interesting that Tina always spoke horribly about Gilligan's Island and it is the only place she ever had any success. I think that is because the rest of the cast carried her. I am ranting, but it is because I just watched the documentary and I am disgusted by her. The real talent, the rest of the cast, put up with a lot from her.
Apparently she thought her career was really going places until she got stranded on Gilligan's Island. A certain degree of (over) confidence is probably necessary for the profession with so many "actors" driving taxi and waiting table, so I might give her a bit of a pass on this. That doesn't justify her badmouthing the rest of the cast, which apparently was part of the behind the scenes story. Like most of the guys I've talked to, I thought Wells had it all over Louise, at least as far as their characters on the show.
I ran into Dawn Wells a few years ago and she still looked great.. She was very friendly and gave me a huge hug....She was at a promotional event with Adam West and I ran into them in the afternoon beforehand and had a drink with them.. Nice memory
I tried re-watching this series a few years ago -- couldn't do it. . . Too hokey. . . When I was 9, however, I ran home from school just to watch the show, including intro song. . .
This video could benefit for a professional redo. The author should take a graphics design class. The fonts are horrible. You have to pause and strain your eyes to read it. Then there's the spoken audio track competing withe written text. It's just awfully-composed.
Are you kidding me? The show has been off the air for like 45 years. These people were in their 20's when they started filming. Bob and Russell actually look appropriate for their age. Dawn and Tina look phenomenal and kudos to them. Remember, characters don't age, actors do. And these ladies did it with grace, elegance, and style. One more thing, and this is in no way an insult to the gentlemen. Let's see THEM wearing tank tops. No, let's not. Right? Bravo Dawn! Bravo Tina!
This Guy DWAYNE HICKMAN PLAYED "DOBIE GILLIS ON -'THE MANY LOVES OF DOBIE GILLIS" CO-STARRING TUESDAY WELD AND WARREN BEATTY AND BOB DENVER AS 'MAYNARD G. KREBS " TOU r RANG??DOBIE DOO? AND WHO COULD FORGET 'ZELDA?" NOT DOBIE, JERK!
I don't care what you mindless nothings say! Ginger may have a few miles on the chassis, but she'll probably beat the hell out of many on the show room floor! Stay beautiful, Ms. Louise! You will always be the one (you and Racquel Welch)!
Fun show, those actors gave me a lot of laughs when I was watching as a kid. I had about 5 channels back then, now we have 300 and barely anything worth watching.
A lot of people are in the comments saying how this was such a great show when they were kids. The first time I watched this was at a friends birthday party and I loved the show. When my parents picked me up in the morning, I told them about the show and started singing the intro song. My parents joined in and then started saying that they really liked Mary Ann and the Professor when they were kids watching the show. I was shocked! I honestly did not know how old the show was. Even now, I have very fond memories watching the show and loving the first season because it was in black and white which was so new to me. It's strange to see that the actors are so old and have died to me even before I was born because I have never fully comprehended that the show is old and that the actors aren't immortal. Anyway, that's my rant. Really love this show.
Are you fuckin kiddin? That broad just like many others in hollywierd have nipped and tucked their faces and bodies so much that they make themselves look like that in old age. In a half a cetury I will look better than that even if I'm ina casket. Besides, father time and mother nature aren't as hard on original people as it is on caucasians.
Yeah evolution is great and so was grafting. And my name has nothing to do wiith that bullshit you're talking about. Arabic is a language and arab christians call god allah as well. That's the name of god in the arabic language and the language is older than Muhammad. You're throwing rocks ina gun fight. I saw what you said about Muhammadism and personally I could care less. Original people never needed an arab prophet to deal with religion. Might wanna read a book or two.
I was a nine yrs ol. In those days. Were good times. And a terrible times too. I watches this programs. Every weeks. And I liked it. It was so. Funny. Too mean.
As I'm writing this, on this day - Sep 4, 2019, the Professor (Russell Johnson) has since died. The year was 2014. So the only ones left alive are the girls.
Thanks... Funny, because one of my buddies runs a limo service in L.A., and I have met Cuba Gooding Jr, Kevin Costner, among others, but for me, it was more exciting to meet Adam West and Dawn Wells because I grew up watching them on T,V. as a kid... Plus, what an awesome experience to have them to myself for a an hour or so. I'm glad Adam West got his gig as mayor West on Family Guy. Funny sideline, my mom erased the mssg he left on the answering machine because she thought it was a prank! lol
The entire Gilligan's Island series only lasted 3 years!!!! They made 36 shows per year. It was cancelled while still in the top 25 - simply because a TV exec's wife played cards on Friday night - (Gilligan's Island was on Friday Night 8:30PM) - and her card group preferred to watch GunSmoke - so GunSmoke was moved to Friday night - and Gilligan's Island was moved to Wednesday!!! Then to Monday - then off the air - while still in the top 25 slot!!!!!!! On the air September 26, 1964, to September 4, 1967. And the actual "lagoon" is now a parking lot at Universal Studios (A lagoon actually never existed)!!!!!!
I've come across Marc Bogart before. He/she is in jr high Another kid hiding behind the computer. I suspect it's a girl. reported him/her I don't want my students reading his/her garbage.
Marc Bogart Shut up before you make yourself look like a bigger fool than Darren Wilson. And just so you know, I'm a white Protestant, and you will refrain from using racial slurs to address anyone, unless you want me to delete your account and get you IP banned, permanently.
I'LL Take Natally Lovey Howell, Born 1901!!!!! Was 90 when she Died, 1991!!!! -------------------------- In 1964 she was 63!!! I'LL Take the Natalie Lovey Howell, age 63!!!
@wherearetheynowguy: This has been a fascinating journey filled with wonderful trivia that I very much enjoyed. You did a spectacular job with this, and I can't wait to see what other videos you have. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this such an enjoyable trip down memory lane! Best wishes & kindest regards, Snowy Peace.
Luke Warm The show only lasted 3 years and it's possible for batteries to last that long. The inside of my 1979 Volare interior light never burned out in 20 years.I once had a pair of Nikes that lasted 2500 miles (i count the miles on my runners) anything is possible with certain products
I'm sorry, but even in High School I thought the show was idiotic, but my dad loved it. The only time I looked at our TV was when Mary Ann was running around in her shorts.
Idiotic in a good way. My friend and I used to joke about the professor because he seemed to know everything. What subject did he profess? Reminds me of the Junior Woodchucks Manual consulted by Donald Duck's nephews, which contained the answer to every question.
Paul Masgalajian Yes, MaryAnn and Ginger (but mostly MaryAnn) were the main reasons to watch the show. Kind of the way I feel about Benny Hill. Never found his skits to be very funny, but enjoyed watching the show for the scantily clad dancers.
Dawn Wells lives just a few miles from me ,the girls are still kicking and guys kicked the bucket - loved them all - one of my favorite comedies of all time.
This show was such a big part of my childhood.
I thank them all for the memories.
Dave Benny ya after school Gilligan's. Island was a great relief after stressfull. Days at school lol 😁😁😂😁 loved it 😂😂😂😂😂
David Allen ho

"And Now There Are Two": Rest In Peace RUSSELL JOHNSON (November 10, 1924 - January 16, 2014)

It was nice seeing this. My father was friends with Allen Hale and was also his barber. Although they have both passed on, I remember fondly the stories.
Ima Carnut That's interesting. Did he ever tell any stories about banging MaryAnn or Ginger?
I read a story once that said Tina Louise was quite the nympho. Supposedly she was always having male friends visit her on the set and nailing her in her trailer.
No, I have never heard anything like that.
+Ima Carnut So did Hale tell your father about all the close shaves he had on the Island?
got a kiss from DAWN WELLS on my birthday in Lakeland Fla. on my 60th birthday .she's still a beautiful as ever.
I met her too sweet lady
She was on the Food Network. She looked good.

Professor could keep the batteries in the radio running for 3 years, turn a bunch of coconuts & bamboo into a lab but couldn't patch a hole in the boat. But man,I loved this show.

There was an episode where the Professor rigged up the stationary bike to charge the batteries

WHY NOT? WOMEN USUALLY LIVE LONGER THEN MEN? AND THE HOWELLS WERE LIKE 85 WHEN THE SHOW WAS GOING ON.
donald sawyer The Howells were 54 and 67 when the show ended, not 85!!😂 Still old enough to not be surprised they’re not alive today though. Mrs Howell would be 120 if she was still alive!!😂🤣

The Professor had "six college degrees, and couldn't build a boat." That is far more realistic than the cast might have realized.
R.I.P! I love this show and I am 17 years old!
Tina Louise blamed Gilligans Island on her failures in Hollywood but no one forced her to take that part!
Robert Redford boo hoo hoo
Another example of "Never bite the hand that feeds you"????....
@@Tmetrvlr what hand feeds me?
Tina's problem was she confused her role (glamorous movie star) with reality, she was just a pretty girl who was lucky to land a part on a hit show.

Some good information and photos. Good post, thanks.
If the professor could build a radio out of some odd pieces of junk, why couldn't he figure out how to patch up a hole in the boat?

Like most of the guys I've talked to, I thought Wells had it all over Louise, at least as far as their characters on the show.
I only know of her through this show. The woman is a total ingrate
She was on "Married With Children." It was where Kelly,(Christina Applegate,) tried for a modeling spot for the new car called The Alante.
I ran into Dawn Wells a few years ago and she still looked great.. She was very friendly and gave me a huge hug....She was at a promotional event with Adam West and I ran into them in the afternoon beforehand and had a drink with them.. Nice memory
May Russell Johnson rest in peace.
The professor was so smart. He could make almost anything out just about nothing but he couldn't patch the small hole in the boat.
+Appleholic1 The glue he mixed up didn't work.
The professor really looks different. Tina didn't age well but you can still tell it's her. I wouldn't recognize the prof.
Best People ever and they were the Legends that made us happy to watch when we came home from school.. Man I loved Gilligans Island
I tried re-watching this series a few years ago -- couldn't do it. . . Too hokey. . . When I was 9, however, I ran home from school just to watch the show, including intro song. . .
I still watch this show even though it is hokey...usually when I’m really bored and want to take a nap...it always does the trick..lol
They couldn't be young forever... Gosh, I used to love this show.x.
The fonts were difficult to read. You need to be using a back-shadowing to avoid this problem.
This video could benefit for a professional redo. The author should take a graphics design class. The fonts are horrible. You have to pause and strain your eyes to read it. Then there's the spoken audio track competing withe written text. It's just awfully-composed.
+cakeman58 Also a proofreader.
+Brennan Callan
I HAD POSTED HERE, & I RETURNED & some COCK-SUCKER
DID DESTROY MY POST!!!!
+Brennan Callan I didn't have any problem reading any of this.
Awww I loved this show and I love all of them this was one of my favorite shows I miss watchin this show R.I.P. YALL is very much missed
Tina Louise looks like a monsta!
Right? Bravo Dawn! Bravo Tina!
unfortunately, now all the male actors of this show are deceased.
And one female.
The cool thing is you can continue the tradition by watching with your own kids. My kids love to watch classic tv...stuff I grew up on.
BOB DENVER WAS "MAYNARD G. KREBS" LONG BEFORE G.I ON THE DOIE GILLIS SHOW!!
bobo plex That's Dobie
This Guy DWAYNE HICKMAN PLAYED "DOBIE GILLIS ON -'THE MANY LOVES OF DOBIE GILLIS" CO-STARRING TUESDAY WELD AND WARREN BEATTY AND BOB DENVER AS 'MAYNARD G. KREBS " TOU r RANG??DOBIE DOO? AND WHO COULD FORGET 'ZELDA?" NOT DOBIE, JERK!
bobo plex Calm down and take your meds, i was just correcting your typo, "DOIE GILLIS"
I CAN' T TYPE IS ALL UP OR LOW PLUS IT'S DARK WHEREI LIVE ! THINK CAVE WITH INTERNET......................daniel
Given Bob Denver's late life pot bust, they shoulda named it Doobie Gillis.
I don't care what you mindless nothings say! Ginger may have a few miles on the chassis, but she'll probably beat the hell out of many on the show room floor! Stay beautiful, Ms. Louise! You will always be the one (you and Racquel Welch)!
Why would you use present tense when speaking of those who have passed away?
Fun show, those actors gave me a lot of laughs when I was watching as a kid. I had about 5 channels back then, now we have 300 and barely anything worth watching.
RIP Russell Johnson
The professor died too
The professor died a couple years ago. He lived many years on Bainbridge Island , WA and much of a recluse.
in that one photo of tina louise she looked like hell
laura martinez ok
When I was a kid I was a Mary Ann man, but when I got older I turned Ginger.
My goodness Tina Louise did not age well.
Yeah! She looks like HELL ON EARTH!
Simon Frampton Can you explain what you mean? Don’t quite understand.
Still watch it when it's on! Crazy & fun show!
LIFE HASN'T BEEN GOOD TO GINGER. DAMN.
There's a difference between losing your looks and losing your happiness. Perhaps Tina is quite happy.
I hope so.......at least.
Akill Allah I have Often Felt Bad, for some Girls who have LOST IT!!!
I was a nine yrs ol. In those days. Were good times. And a terrible times too. I watches this programs. Every weeks. And I liked it. It was so. Funny. Too mean.
Dawn Wells Looks Nice Nowadays
I've saw them separately at conventions - but wow! NOTHING could compare to THAT kind of memory!
Dawn Wells - still hot.
devtrev
As I'm writing this, on this day - Sep 4, 2019, the Professor (Russell Johnson) has since died. The year was 2014. So the only ones left alive are the girls.
Mary Ann or Ginger? Well based on the photos here, I'll chose Mary Ann
Marc Bogart So now we can start blaming the jews for the loss of Gilligans Island? (
I've come across Marc Bogart before. He/she is in jr high Another kid hiding behind the computer. I suspect it's a girl. reported him/her I don't want my students reading his/her garbage.
Marc Bogart well make up your mind! Is he/she black or Jewish, like Sammy Davis Jr?? lol!
Marc Bogart
Nope, it's frightwingers like you who don't question the U.S. MIC that's the true cause.
Marc Bogart Shut up before you make yourself look like a bigger fool than Darren Wilson. And just so you know, I'm a white Protestant, and you will refrain from using racial slurs to address anyone, unless you want me to delete your account and get you IP banned, permanently.
Funny, I thought it was a few years ago when I met them, but my buddy told me it was more like 9 or ten years ago... My how time flies! ....Ooops!
DAMN, TINA LOOKS LIKE A OLD DRAG QUEEN!!!
Great show. I enjoyed watching it.
I'LL Take Natally Lovey Howell, Born 1901!!!!!
Was 90 when she Died, 1991!!!!
--------------------------
In 1964 she was 63!!! I'LL Take the Natalie Lovey Howell, age 63!!!
+Robert Robertson Normally i would disagree, but after a few months stranded on an isalnd, Lovey would have looked pretty good.
+John Mac | I also WANT Lovey!!!!
.
Yes, she had a very nice personality. That, and a kiester you could bounce a quarter off of.
Not what I expected, but some mught good fiddlin'.
@wherearetheynowguy: This has been a fascinating journey filled with wonderful trivia that I very much enjoyed. You did a spectacular job with this, and I can't wait to see what other videos you have. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this such an enjoyable trip down memory lane! Best wishes & kindest regards, Snowy Peace.
the Professor had a small transistor radio, but the batteries never ran out... Did anyone ever solve this mystery ?
Rechargeables.
Coconuts ;)
summer fields At least somebody didn't forget about the coconuts.
How could they?! ;)
Luke Warm The show only lasted 3 years and it's possible for batteries to last that long. The inside of my 1979 Volare interior light never burned out in 20 years.I once had a pair of Nikes that lasted 2500 miles (i count the miles on my runners) anything is possible with certain products
Thanks for this. Lots of interesting facts I did not know and that make for great trivia. However, that pic that you used for Tina Louise is scary!
Paul Masgalajian yer photo is idiotic
Trev Mac Thanks Trev.
Paul Masgalajian Yes, MaryAnn and Ginger (but mostly MaryAnn) were the main reasons to watch the show.
Kind of the way I feel about Benny Hill. Never found his skits to be very funny, but enjoyed watching the show for the scantily clad dancers.
John Mac Yep, that's why we did it as young guys.
