Totally agreed it's about time the Mitchell's had friends on the square again that they've known for years not just some heavies with an unknown backstory
Phil and Grant's friendship with Nigel was really good! Nigel was like a brother to them at times.
always funny how them two were hard nuts and nige was complete opposite.
IKR. They were also good friends with Ricky, and he was the complete opposite to them as well.
@Stuart Cumings True, Nigel always had to get the Mitchells to hold his hand for him and fight his battles for him.
Maybe he allowed them to admit that they had a bit of heart, too.

It doesn't have an amazing action scene it doesn't have high stakes or a death but this has to be the greatest Eastenders episode/set of clips to date it features great likeable characters the Mitchell brothers in there prime helping out an old friend and the whole square having a great time celebrating and laughing with one another this is what Eastenders should be heartwarming moments like this
Aye, amazing, this was golden Eastenders.
I love this too, but it also struck me as starkly contrasting with how unrelentingly depressing the show often became. 😓

Miss these days of EE Pauline, Arthur, Michelle, Mark, Ethel, Alan, Carol, Phil, Grant, Sanjay & Gita, Debs & NIIIIIIIGE! So much better back in the day. Street parties instead of constant despair (ironic to say on this vid, I know considering what happens to Debs and poor Nige 😢) *sigh*

There's an old unwritten rule that there must be a banner handy at all times in the East end, anyone responsible for one who fails to produce it is sent "up west"

I know this is just a soap opera - but is just shows how different things were only 25 years ago. You'd never get that now - far too many people scared to walk the streets !

Liam got the Mitchell brothers to back off in a later episode. Phil put his hand on Liam (Grant was also present) and was told "take your hand off me or i'll do you for assault". The Mitchell brothers immediately backed down. A far cry from being threatened with a week in hospital and never being able to walk again.

@@kevinmcm19 True gangsters would deal with all of this outside of any legal authority. Phil and Grant acted as big men but in reality, were not that dangerous unlike for example the Krays. Failure to listen to the Krays would cost you dearly. Failure to listen to the Mitchell's, well a day in court.
