1985-1995 was the best years of EastEnders !!! Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks have never ever had a bad boy anywhere close to Grant Mitchell from EastEnders. No Soap ever will.
Agreed. I still think it was really good in the late 90s and early noughties too. Went downhill in 2002 after Going to 4 episodes (after an initial spike).
Agreed 85-95 were it’s prime years but it was still great up until 02/03

Up to 95 was good when Michelle, Sharon and Debbie Bates left. Obviously with the early episodes with the Watts, Beales and Fowlers. But it was good after with Grant and Tiffany and Lorraine, Phil and Kathy up to 99 when Grant and Kathy left. Picked up with Steve Owen, Mel, Lisa and Tiffany then the Slaters, Den's return, Dennis and Vicky in the 00s. Then 2006 onwards it was awful and had moments of good characters but the families and storyline since not good. Phil and Sharon, the Wicks, the Beales storyline are just not good and 2023 is atrocious
Emmerdale and Hollyoaks have always been crap
David was somewhere in between Ian's greediness and the Mitchell brothers' thuggishness, don't you think?

I wish EE was this good again, but that's the trouble, sensationalism, it's killing the soaps and making them unwatchable!
Reality shows ruined soaps, Netflix etc they are competing with too much now so the soaps are crap now and unrealistic

He wasn't. It was the same actor, but he played a different character.
I remember when David left the hospital Pat was making out he was going to tske revenge she said' he reckonshe'll sort it out his own way' David was a new character and there was an air of tension. Pat was implying David could handle himself and was a real man. In the end David bought a drink and Grant served him in a hey lets just move on manner
He then bedded their younger sister and flaunted her in front of them. Id say he got his revenge he was a grade A wind up merchant conman and womaniser. One of tbe best characters of the 90s and a good actor with it. Any man that can juggle keys a coffee and toast at the same time and reel off his lines is a top thespian.
