You can see how Watson was so excited to show Mary how fun it was being Sherlock Holmes’ friend in this scene. It’s like he was showing everything they usually go through.
Lmao exactly
shared trauma bonding xD
Oh y'know, just almost killed my dog and himself, not a big deal.
So are we going out for tea or is it being brought to us.
And in the process, playing to Holmes' urgent need to show how smart he is by doing NOTHING to distract him...
love this version of Watson, he's such a more powerful individual than other ones. i love how he's a bit of a jack-the-lad former military man who's still got that streak of a tough young lad in him
He actually has a military background and experience in the Game of Shadows
Ikr he looks and acts clever, and such a good partner that can keep up with The Sherlock Holmes. The Jhon from series looks like he's just following Sherlock around in his adventures
@@shakira4223 but the series version felt more like the books.
@@shakira4223 that's what John did in the books tho

rene L yum
rene L God damn okay
Honestly Law's Watson is excellent, closest to the book I have ever seen. Also great character development having Holmes call Mary 'dear' after being so threatened by her.
You have seen the bbc Sherlock?
@@napoleon3026 Great Holmes, bad Watson. He's more of a sidekick while Jude Law's Watson is a genuine partner who can get sassy with Holmes when he needs to. I like Martin Freeman, but his Watson suffers from bad writing.
@@MonkeBrain07 Let me tell you that you're the among the very small minority of people that thinks like that. Since its an opinion you're not factually wrong, just incredibly unpopular. Or you're a hipster in which case its perfectly normal for you to say something like that.
The BBC Sherlock is by far the best depiction of Watson so far, he's most certainly not a mere sidekick. In fact it is the most emotionally complex and multi layered version of the Doctor so far complemented beautifully by Martin Freeman's nonchalantly gut wrenching acting style. Just because a portrayal of Sherlock is closer to the Conan Doyle books doesn't mean its better.
@@areebsiddiqui758 I was more focused on the role they played in their respective stories rather than actual character and their developments. Sure, Martin Freeman's Watson is amazing when it comes to writing, but how they utilise him in the story is frankly underwhelming. Law's Watson is a decent character at best, but the usage of his character was far better than Freeman's. I love the books to death so of course I will have a bias, but I also recognise when a good character is not used properly in a story.
@@MonkeBrain07 There were whole episodes in BBC sherlock dedicated to Watson's character. In fact pretty much every case relied on Watson's help in some way, wither in a medical capacity or him turning up in the nick of time of time to save Holmes from the clutches of the criminal and putting an end to the case.
"Holmes, How many times do you have to kill my dog?"

The fact that they dont call themselves with their first name is crazy. They say Watson and Holmes
Johnny Sickness02 you are not forgiven.
Or they could've done
Watson: "Holmes, what are you doing up there?"
Holmes: "Oh, just hanging around."
RDJ's version of Sherlock Holmes is the closest to the actual book. I love it
In fairness that makes sense though because I believe the Cumberbatch rendition was intended to “shake things up a bit” especially with the whole modern era part of things
what 'book'?
@@fredtherndmrtpstr5052 all the sherlock holmes mysteries written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
@@educatednipple2418 oh yeah, I love that book! Though I haven't finished it yet
*Laughs in Jeremy Brett*
It's rather sweet that Holmes compliments Watson's tenacious and well-trained medical mind... right after Watson literally left Sherlock hanging. Worse things could happen indeed... like trash talk from Sherlock :)
This is an aspect of the films that I absolutely love compared to the show. Watson shows multiple instances where he can deduce various aspects of a crime scene, and unlike the show where Sherlock belittles John for missing the big picture, Holmes always compliments Watson, and shows him admiration and respect. While they may not be complete equals in terms of deductive reasoning and knowledge/physical strength/marksmanship, they both still see each other as equals, partners, and friends.
@@superdude4464 Yes! And in "Game of Shadows" Holmes trusts Watson to deduce as he would at the peace summit in Switzerland while Holmes has the chess game with Moriarty. He states that "my methods are present" implying that he believes that Watson will figure out who the disguised killer is.

Whats actually really funny about this scene is that if you read the books, this is something Holmes was absolutely capable of doing. Especially if he was bored.
why ESPECIALLY if he was bored?
@@CyColtEccentric is the word.
Indeed.
My favorite part is Watson's "How did you manage it Holmes?" He's being overly inquisitive to get Holmes to continue the explanation this keeping him hanging longer. Holmes can't help himself and has to keep going! 🤣
Watson's "This is fine..." attitude throughout the clip and this movie was one of the funniest things lol

Mary only had 3 scenes in the movie...left quite an impression I must say.
Jude Law is playing young Albus Dumbledore and Robert was playing Iron Man. But their acting is so strong that we are able to see them as complete different characters. That's what acting means
His English accent sounds so iconic
Critics bashed RDJ for it, but I love it.
@@ComedyBros5 IKR critics are people without taste their also the reason why "cuties" is a thing it's sick so many hidden gems and critics just give an applause to mostly copy paste cliche trash.
I am HUGE fan of the books, like I read all the Holmes and not once. And I am also pretty big fan of Soviet Holmes (which follows the books). So when I heard about this movie I was very sceptical, but I still went to see it. Amazing movie, seriously. I especially like Watson here
Me too
Can we talk about Mary genuinely caring for Holmes
I like how the first words that leave sherlocks mouth is "good afternoon" and then continues to explain how he survived the hanging
It's kind of cute if the dog still loves Holmes he knows everytime he takes something he gets high which is a win-win.

@@vampirethespiderbatgod9740 there might be a Sherlock 3
Honestly, both Sherlocks are good. Cumberbatch portrays a more detached Sherlock, one that really depends on Watson to humanize himself, and throughout the seasons, his character gets gradually warmer to other people. It’s also to note that his ego can be a very big motivator in his work, as seen in A Study In Pink.
Downey really casts sort of an oddball Sherlock. He doesn’t fit in, but he doesn’t blatantly insult people/act condescending the way Cumberbatch’s Sherlock does. Downey will act like a jerk, but not out of the blue the way that BBC Sherlock does. Downey also shows exemplary fighting skills and technique. While we do see Cumberbatch fight, it’s a lot quicker and brief. There will never be another Sherlock that analyzes the situation in mere seconds while showing the audience his thought process, which is what’s so fun about the movies.
In summary, both sherlocks are fantastic. You can go either way with them, and each represents a different interpretation of Doyle’s character :D
"...And i was carried off in the arms of Morpheus like a caterpillar in a cocoon".
Dont know why but i love that line there. 😆
"He's far too fond of himself"= the polite description of a narcissist

Tony Stark to Dr. Strange: "I. Am. Sherlock Holmes."
These two are by far the best Sherlock Watson
When he (Jude Law) keeps telling Mr. Stark to control his emotion.
Two reasons on why I loved this scene;
1) When I first saw this movie in theaters, Holmes had already revealed almost all of Blackwood’s schemes throughout the movie, but not how he survived the first hanging attempt. Watching it in theaters, it made me think that Holmes hadn’t thought that part important enough to comment on it, so I’m glad they did so because Holmes would care to know it (and so would select members of the audience).
2) I love Watson’s “I’d hate to cut him off midstream.” a very subtle “Let’s see you get out of this one Holmes.”
I love how rdj can do a British accent-

Why does Watson just carry a sword around with him?
It's a cane sword. While carrying around an actual sword around would be inconvenient and eye-catching, a cane sword can be sheathed and used as a simple walking stick.
Connor Clemmons Ah.
Herge Tintin and in the dinner scene when Holmes first meets Watson's soon to be wife (forgot her name) Holmes states that he was awarded it while he was in the military so it's also a memory to watson of his military career
