Great work man! I've been watching you're comparisons since iPhone 11 and I have to say your comparisons are THE BEST I have ever seen.
Excellent production. It’s obvious this must have taken a lot of time to pit together. Thank you.
I love the s22U in the day with the high contrast, but I also love the iPhone 14 pro max at night with the higher quality lighting. They both did great. Thanks for covering this!!
Always look forward to the SuperSaf camera comparisons. One thing I would love to see is a comparison of digital zoom, Specifically between 3x-10x. I currently have a Pixel 6 Pro, and their super res zoom feature blows away every other smartphone when it comes to digital zoom. I zoom 5x-8x a ton when watching my kids at sports and performances, so this is really important for me. I'd love to see a good apples to apples comparison of the digital zoom on the 3x lenses before it gets to 10x where Samsung switches to its periscope lens.
I second this request. Please
Up to 10x Zoom the iPhone is better then samsung. After That of corse Samsung is better
The iPhone has better zoom before 10X, the Samsung has better zoom after 10X.
@@ESKATEUK yes. Even my 13 pro Max has better Zoom bevore 10x. I had compared it to s22 Ultra.
@@christiandoninger5951 yeah it does, it’s because the 3X zoom camera is far better on the iPhone. Can’t deny the Samsung has a good 10X lens, but honestly I’d hardly ever use it, and if I wanted good zoom I’d use my actual DSLR camera with a zoom lens. Can’t beat the iPhone.

This is one of those years where Apple has REALLY focused heavily on the cameras with both new software AND hardware and it really shows. Normally these comparisons are very close to 50/50 where Saf might give the slight edge to the Galaxy on photos with the iPhone taking the edge on video but this time around is a different case as Apple has actually made substantial camera improvements all around that might actually get me to pick the Pro model over just the base model which I've normally been fairly happy with.

I love you have discussed sound quality aswell. This is sooo underrated in many reviews. But sooooo important in shooting video
Hey Saf, great video as always. Did you use an Exynos S22 Ultra or an SD variant?
I feel like the Samsung has some better "specialized" features like the 10x zoom, the edge detection on portraits and the dynamic range on the ultra wide angle camera. But in terms of "normal" point-and-shoot pictures and videos, the iPhone has better results in daylight and especially in lowlight. I´ve used a Huawei P30 Pro for the past 3 1/2 years, so I´m not biased here. But I think the iPhone gives the overall better results.
Overall samsung gave the better result with day and macro and portrait and iPhone has better video and night shots. So it depend on what the user likes

There's nothing gimmicky in the 100x zoom, as long you can use it for the purpose it's intended for..
That zoom has helped me many times when I'm at work, saving me the stress as a mining engineer, when taking pictures of far sites at 50x.
Also wonderful for taking pictures of wildlife!!

The best camera comparison I’ve seen. Many others, who prefer one phone over the other, usually give judgements based on their personal preferences. This was neutral and gave the best details of each device.
I know I am not the only one. Kinda disappointed, this round the house near the lake is not included in this video. Saf usually use it to test the zoom capabilities 😭The house is like a trademark now

Love this vedio but can you compare between iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max, I want to see in Detail and how much different are their.
Very well done video. Thank you supersaf ❤️
I feel the camera on the samsung hasn't yet reached its fullest potential yet, but I am reserved on the processor, as the fold 4 already does very good shots on much smaller hardware. I do think the s23 ultra will do better with the faster processor and the uniformity of snapdragon and of course the 200mp processor. They should actually force samsung not to bring out the s23 on February and kind off force the developers of the samsung camera software to go back to the drawing board and be less lazy. Overall samsung is actually very good considering apple has samsung, tsmc and cupertino developing parts and software for this iPhone, samsung can actually win if they just pay a bit more attention to detail on the software and the shutter lag,the video, and actually use sensor shift and a lidar scanner, they are so close of being right on top ,because with screen technology and the camera lenses they are most definitely up there. Samsung is the perfect iPhone for Android users
You're right, stabilisation, low light everything is better on the s23

I've been taking moonshots all year long on my Galaxy s22 ultra and I got to say I'm impressed when the moon is above me completely and also when it's on the horizon it's impressive for that reason I enjoy the hundred time zoom
Wow I can’t imagine how much work went into this. Thanks for the comparison!
The 100x zoom is no gimmick for me. How many times I have had to check something out of my vision range, for example just recently one of the vents on our roof was leaking and instead of going through the hassle/risk of climbing the roof of a cathedral ceiling. I just zoomed in 60x with my phone and immediately confirmed the seal was indeed broken and that there were dozens of wasps in the vent that needed repair. Saved myself getting surprised 20 feet off the ground and going up there to begin with. The fact of the matter is I use that zoom quite often and want to see even better zooms from Samsung and other companies.
So you’re using it as a binocular and not a camera? He’s talking about picture quality and that’s why he called it a gimmick because that feature pumps out very grainy images.
It's only a gimmick until apple does it. Then it's no longer a gimmick

The photo-shots of the S22 Ultra are still amazing - especially the dynamic range is awesome and better as on the iPhone. But the low light qualities of the iPhone 14 Pro are mindblowing. I recently noticed that Mr Who's the boss always tends to lean towards iPhones in camera comparisons, when I watch your reviews, I can tell they are unbiased. It's good to get a review of people who actually use both echo systems and manufacturers.
I’ve noticed that too.
iPhones really do have good cameras specially when taking photos of people. Their ecosystem sucks though, I freakin hate CarPlay.
@@aznzensation I agree since the iPhone 11 it's been going upwards for them but in all honesty I just love Google algorithm and processing for picture's. It's my favourite camera software on my phone.
Apple also told him not to compare iphone 13 pro max vs iphone 14pro max in his battery life test because iphone 13 PM battery is actually better.
It is biased sadly.
2:33
He said the s22 has more detail, but gave it to the i phone with no explanation and for no reason.
He did a 10 sec long exposure with the iphone and said it was better.
But he purposely scipped the 30sec long exposure of the s22 which it can do. He did not even mention it.
So either he did not know about that feature, or he skipped it on purpose to go towards iphone.
Nailed it Saf. Amazing analysis as always
It really does depend on what you use the camera for. I, for example, would love to have a lot of zoom on my phone. I record storms and I frequently zoom in on far away clouds but it looks quite blurry. So I was impressed by how clear it looks when you zoom in this phone,
Seems a lot of the difference is just in the software and the setting Apple uses vs Samsung. Color saturation and contrast is mostly adjusted automatically in the drivers. It really just depends on personal preference. Samsung use to have very saturated colors but have toned it down much over the years. Maybe a little too much for most everyday users.
Did you not see the horrendous fake background blur in the first 10 seconds of the video in the Samsung video around his head? How is this acceptable in a $1200 phone. This is a joke
@@Q8Police777 later in the video I would say the same thing about the Iphone. Both had times where that feature didn't work well. I do like the way Apple handles low detail. It seems to add some artificial grain instead of leaving it blurry.
Either way both cameras are excellent and will come down to what ecosystem you are use to.
@@Q8Police777 Just the same with i phone. Watch the video.

Than he did 10 sec exposure with the i phone and kept on.
He totally excluded the long time exposure of the s22 there (on purpose?). He made an unfair match and scipped 30 sec exposure, which the samsung is capable of.
Why did he do that? Why did he give it to the i phone without any explanation and without being fair and doing the same with samsung?
I dont get it.
After years watching saf, i am really disappointed.
As a photographer myself i can say, i phone with 10 sec exposure wont compete against the s22 with 30 sec exposure. S22, in an unbiased way, is much better for low light static objects.

Question for you between S22 Ultra vs iphone 14 pro max.... I take a majority of my photos either for sports action or from a moving vehicle (passenger side just so you all know I'm being safe out there)! How does each phone handle a moving photo? It is fair, cuz its the same year model. Remember this phones are usually ready when the last one launched. The tech is build years before.
I honestly prefer the better lowlight performance as well as the better video performance on the iPhone. I use my phone for videos a lot. You can lower the camera brightness exposure by just tapping the screen and lowering the sun symbol to fix the overexposed image quality. You can also change the color temperature on the iPhone if it looks too warm and over-saturated. I like to adjust the settings every now and then because the photos can look inconsistent at times depending on the environment. You can also tap the upward arrow icon to access the camera controls and change the exposure or swipe up on the screen to access the camera controls. I love my iPhone 13 Pro Max. It’s an also phone!

Yeah, Apple has a lot of pull in the Social Media communities, so they can encourage the big companies to optimize for iPhones, which is nice for me, cause I'm an iPhone guy, but Android users definitely deserve better and I think they need to push Google to demand better optimization from the SM companies. TOP camera comparison and great summary of the pros and cons!!! 👍🤩
Would love to see a short segment on shutter lag included. It's the thing that keeps pulling me back to iPhone when I occasionally switch to Android. Pixels always did well, but never Samsung's flagships
Samsung still has bad shutter lag. I saw another comparison which compared it and it was p bad
Same! I have the S21 plus and it annoys me more that i expected. Switching to iphone this year
Go check out Marques video!
This, along with battery life, are the main reasons why I'm switching back to Apple. I love my S22 Ultra and I do think that there are many great qualities about this phone, but as someone who uses my camera so often, the shutter lag drives me insane.
After latest august camera update, shutter lag has reduced much on snapdragon version S22 ULTRA. Let's see what happens after One UI 5 stable update...
They're both very good . I do prefer most of the iphone photos, albeit it seems to struggle with highlights a bit , but I'm sure they can fix that in future updates (;I'm an Android user )
Dude, I never thought I'd be back with Apple but comparing the S22 to S22 Ultra to the iPhone 14 Pro, I'm inclined to go with the latter as it has camera advantages over either S22 while retaining the form factor of the S22 (size being my biggest hesitation on the Ultra).
Thank you for this video. Much appreciated!
Lets hope apple can fix it's algorithm to prevent clipping the highlights. You can't edit what isn't there, which makes the Samsung the winner of the daylight photos. I'm also not a fan of the way Apple removes highlights from faces. It makes people's faces look flat. That's my biggest complaint of the 13 ProM (which I own). Thankfully I own a real camera so it's somewhat of a non-issue.
Thank you for comparison 😊
Looks like a professor indoors in front of a computer but looks like a stud outdoors. Not sure how he does that. Excellent work, Saf. As always, a very thorough work.
Nice Video Saf, love your comparisons.
The 2022 flagship smartphone has almost as good camera quality, there's nothing wrong with that.
Great video.
You didn't mention the massive shutter lag on the S22U and the amount of time it takes to process each image for each shot.
The iPhone is instant on both.
Makes a huge difference to the camera experience.
Also the S22U camera can be very laggy when you first open it after the phone has been in sleep.
Good point
Did you know that the reason why iPhone is better in video is exactly the same reason why it has zero shutter lag?
Yeah, iPhone tend to stick with the instantaneous processing, while the Android counterparts usually rely on post processing (some of them can take up to several seconds to process the picture they just took).
The good thing about Apple’s implementation is it can be as well used on video recording with minimal quality degradation, Android on the other hand has to quite significantly degrade their processing pipeline because they don’t have the computational capacity to process their footage at similar quality they do with their still-image in real time.
No shutter lag on mine. You must have a faulty device.
@@Innovate-pq9ci shutter lag is the standard mode of operation on the Galaxy S line since around the S7.
It's very obvious and terribly slow, especially if you use a Pixel or iPhone in comparison.

0:53 well you can tip on the screen and increase/decrease the exposure where highlights and shadows levels can be shifted up or down. That is not difference between the phones capabilities.
So far the best camera comparison. S22U can still hold its own against the newest iphone but apple has made the camera more versatile compared to last year. You cant go wrong with either..

@@TheChris91173 It's what you guys have been saying ever since the first ultra. Even the 13 Pro has a camera that can fight the S22 Ultra.
Why shouldn't it? They're separated for about 6 months, which is nothing. It's not that they're 2 years apart. That argument of "holds its own against the new iPhone" is bullshit, it's a way to minimize the fact that iPhone is, yet again, superior in most camera areas (not to mention power, speed, battery life, etc), giving Samsung credit where credit is due. That being said, the iPhone 13 pro not only holds its own agains the 22S Ultra, but it is superior in some areas. This is, that argument is useless. Unless there's at least 2 years apart from them, they're about the same. And they're both $1.2k phones, so, they should always be the best of the best.
@@TheChris91173 and imagine iPhone 15 pro.
@@disco.lemonade I have an iPhone 13 pro max and sometimes the s22 ultra camera looks better. I. Not biased like you guys
Samsung has cooler tone while Iphone has warm tone. At the end of the day, S22 ultra 100x zoom is useful plus the normal quality image while Iphone has really quality camera. Pratically, Ill choose S22 ultra. Im pretty sure Iphone or samsung, YOULL EDIT IT FOR BETTER PHOTOGRAPHY RESULT so
I wait every year since 2016 for these videos
Best camera comparisons :)
Brilliant comparison video 👍
It’s not an official camera comparison until it’s a supersaf camera comparison. 🔥🔥
*This is the only channel I trust when it comes to camera comparison, not biased and too much shenanigans just a real and honest review.*
Lol he is only sponsoring apple
@@satain9813 Lmao only because he tells the truth for the iPhone camera means he is sponsoring apple
@@hustleacc8075 he is biased. He purposely skipped features on s22 to give it to i phone.
He does 10 sec exposure with i phone. Where is 30sec exposure with s22?
He skipped it, because than the 22 would have won.
@@milchkanne6498 lmao as who the hell needs a 30sec exposure S22 Anshit
@@hustleacc8075 who neds 10 sec?
If you need 10, you need 30.
If you want to do lightart you need it, for nice effects you need it. For a cityskyline at night you need it. For the nightsky you need it.
Supersaf needs it obviously for night shots.
If you dont need long exposure, why taking 10sec on iphone to bias it to iphone?
Did they fix the dimming issue with previous iPhones when in direct sunlight? Waiting for a review to actually check if the updated thermals addresses that
Smartphone cameras keep on improving every year!
The periscope lens on the s22 ultra is far from a "gimmick" I go to live events all the time, in the last 5 months of owning this phone I've gotten pictures and videos that were impossible before. I went to UFC 277 and was basically getting broadcast view from the nosebleeds 💯
Sit in the front. Problem solved
@@j.a.3138 Nah, a basic ass floor seat in like row 30 was almost $900😭
Comparing a device which is released 6 months ago and developed probably year ago with new device.. S22 still doing pretty good. Anyway, those cameras has reached a point and features which average-John does not need or know how to use. When the next Roswell ufo sighting happens, image is still shaky and blurry.
nicely done review! looking forward to see comparison with iphone 12 pro 13 pro
I personally use the 10x optical on my S22 Ultra daily, i couldn't use another phone really because of this, the technology is in the hardware, Samsung FTW 🙏
What a creep.
The 10x camera is my favorite on the S22 ultra, looks really good and the compression you get from it looks legit. I use it all the time as well
@@professionalyoutubecomment7272 Well, if you are a worker, specially in large warehouses etc.
It is substantial to have such a zoom.
You dont need to get a pallett down from 7 meters to read the sheets on it. You just take out your phone, zoom in, read the sheets, get the numbers you need etc.
10x optical is a tool no one wanna miss if he once had one.
@@professionalyoutubecomment7272 What a professional Comment.
@@professionalyoutubecomment7272 You are sick to think that way.
Switched to S22ULTRA from OnePlus 5. Very happy with the Phone. Just love it 😉
Isn't the S22 Ultra the best Android phone right now? Why the switch?
Wait a year and a bit and it will start lagging 😂
@@disco.lemonade dude i switched to S22ULTRA from OnePlus 5. Read properly
@@CoolMkillerPlays gone are the days when it used to lag. Now it's Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. I agree Exynos has its own downside but snapdragon chipsets are best. These are beasts to be Frank 😎
@@CoolMkillerPlays what about iphone camera app bug 🤣🤣🤣
Could you please clarify, which Version of the S22U you use, Exycrap or Snapdragon? There is a more than minor difference in photo quality between those variants.
well done bro you’re the best,,we love your videos ❤
I have the S22U and i kinda thought that Apple was going to kill it, BUT the S22U really held up this year! Video needs improvement but we all know that lol.
Saf, question though,
What update did the S22U have? The first August update kinda ruined the cameras abilities but the 2nd fixed it and Septembers really REALLY helped!
I really hope it was at least ending in AVHD and not AVHB!
What has been improved in the September update in the camera department? I've been waiting to updating until I knew everything was working well.
The problem with android still remains the integration with social media, you can shot a photo in the camera app and then upload it on social media to get the full quality but things like filter or specific apps that do specific things will never use the full quality of the camera.
Good thing I don't use social media
You are the best man 🔝🔝🔝🔝
Keep going
Way way better than everyone about comparing 🤗🤗
Supersaf bro ur content is great but it’s so old fashioned type videos, ppl like to see some fun videos while reviewing
btw for the portrait video on the galaxy s22 ultra, we actually can set how much blurry we want to. thank you
It's already blurry without even setting anything.
after the shot?
@@professionalyoutubecomment7272 we can adjust the blurry before we shoot
Good to see both companies matching each other's flagships and going a bit ahead with every gen, to make other to keep working hard. You can't go wrong with either!!
This is really insane. Your videos are always unique and interesting. Love you brother.
Thanks Saf, that’s really useful.
3:05 but you can also manually push the Galaxy to more than 10 seconds
same for iPhone
@@raadvandrie3532 yeah but you can take longer exposers on the galaxy. Which is why taking photos of the moon and stars is better on android phones.
@@OHCAM5 how long we talking about?
