I think I saw Samantha at the Toronto Baby show back in spring of 2015, she delivered a very informative seminar and really knows what she's talking about. So glad I stumbled on this video - thank you!
Best video I've seen on this. Currently am working with my PT guy in doing some of these great exercises which work. I have a mild form of MS and urge/stress incontinence is one of the many symptoms. So glad these are helping me and hope they help others as well. Thanks for sharing~
Thanks for these exercises. I am 50 years old and after the 2 physical births of my children 16 before years I ve recently started having problems in controlling these muscles downthere and a subsequent panic about it. These are really.step.to step.exercises and you make it very clear on your video how to perform them correctly.
I like this a lot. I've been doing kegel and pelvic floor exercises for about a month now. I don't have any problems but just want to strengthen properly. Thank you.
I really appreciate these simple clear exercises that i can practise and i know they will help if i keep going with it. I'm aware my pelvic floor is very weak! so thank you😀
I think that in general, concentrating on the pelvic floor engagement is or can be emphasized with most exercises. I think that it's a very good idea to do this. I mostly get my participants to engage their pelvic floor but now I'm becoming more interested in physio exercises specifically to help strengthen it!
To anyone who is confused: The way my physical therapist told me was to imagine you are stopping the flow of your pee. Those muscles that you use to "stop the flow" are the muscles that you squeeze and release. I hope this is helpful to some people...
But only to FIND your pelvic floor. If you do this more than this, you can give yourself a urinary tract infection! Be careful! Google Michelle Kenway. Her website is amazing and full of videos and si much information
After having pneumonia for the last 12 days and going thru countless amounts of pads and underwear, you can be sure I'm going to give this a try. Thank very simple and concise instructions.
Marvellous, Samantha! Love the jelly bean image and that you show such a variety of exercises; reminding me to think of my jelly bean whatever exercise I am doing. And I like your style.
Cool tip for the bridge exercise for moms with small children....sit your baby on your pelvis to bounce them, while on back with knees bent. You're so busy having fun and laughing that it doesn't feel like work. You can feel your muscles working, including your abs and pelvic floor. I do it with my big 2 year old. He loves it.
I love this youtube video, this is the first one which has helped me identify my pelvic floor muscles. Should I complete the whole clip or do only one two of the exercises 10 timee
What is the size of the ball that you're using on 2:16 to perform the Bridge exercise? The closest I could find to the ball that you're using are Pilates balls. However, these balls appear a bit bigger than the one you're using. They are typically around 9 inches. What size do you recommend for the ball to be? I want to search on Amazon to see if I can find a suitable ball for the exercise.
According to the breathing in yoga this is the oppositie. In yoga you have to contract your pelvic Floor wen you inhale, and loose wen you exhale, that make sense.
Excellent simple, clear explanations and. pacing. Clearly we have to pause the video to do the 8 to 10 reps, however, it would be easier to have thee instructor make a longer video with all the reps for any truly dedicated, committed followers. Oh well, nonetheless one of the best exercise videos witnessed. Thank you for the post.
The jelly bean is used as a visual. Imagine that you have a blueberry or jelly bean under your vagina, and you have to lift it up into the vagina. Its a cue to help someone do a proper kegel. I also use blueberry to make sure clients don't squeeze to hard. You need to squeeze lightly and not crush that blueberry.
The bridge anthem clamshell exercises work on the glutes (buttocks) not the pelvic floor. This reinforces a miss connection that the pelvic floor muscles contraction involves the buttocks. It does not. Women come to treatment after wondering while they are still leaking and say the kegels do not work!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE these exercises but could you make a full length video with all the reps? I promis it isn't a waste of anyone's time. I keep having to rewind and rewind. Am I the only one? I can't retain what I'm supposed to be doing and this video is the first time in 2 years of doing pilates breathing where I've actually GOT IT! Thank you so much.
I may be wrong, but I believe you are actually doing a Kegel. I think she uses the jelly bean as something to focus on, visualizing actually squeezing (Kegel) and picking up a jellybean. Could be totally wrong.
Although I think the exercises are helpful and well explained, it's really annoying that each section tells you do 10 more and then the video doesn't play it. I'm obviously watching a workout video so I can work out alongside it, not so I can do homework once the video ends.

Thanks for these great exercises for the pelvic floor, I love the use of the stability ball to enhance engagement of the pelvic floor.

Thank you so much I'm having a hard time and this was very helpful.
Thank you....great video
Excellent, not unnecessary talking, only what we need to know! Thank you very much!
Her talking explains things others do not know. Including the breathing and what it is doing to the body.
Love this video, excellent and simple exercises with clear explanation. The visual of jelly bean is very helpful. Great!
Thank you Canadian Living!
Can you please do another video of this kind in a longer version please

Exactly, and yes thank You!
So you squeeze your ass while doing it?
Wtf ??

Really Mary Adams?! I think you need to go google UTI

Best video for pelvic floor muscle

That's not a good idea if your pelvic floor is weak. Bouncing is one of the worst things for it.
I love this youtube video, this is the first one which has helped me identify my pelvic floor muscles.

excellent, all the moves my PT showed me.
The best. Let me know I have a lot of work to do
I love this😍😍😍
Does anyone know if Samatha, the instructor here, has done any other exercise videos? She is fantastic.
gonna start this from tonight
It helps a lot..tnx for this video
Thank you for explaining the moves so clearly. how can I assess the strength of my pelvic floor muscles?
You can see a pelvic floor physiotherapist in your region, for a personal assessment.
Thax Madam. Giving me new life
Thank you. Will restrain bands work as well to strengthen the pelvic floor?

Michelle Kenway advises against exercises where both legs are up and intraabdominal pressure is increased. Not good for prolapse risk.
Great video Thank you
Can you do this exercise, while pregnant? Any special precautions or modifications to take into consideration?
Great 👍 😊🙌
Nice one...
Wow ! Articulate, no fuss, easy & excellent pelvic floor exercises. Thank you !
is "picking up the jellybean" your kegel excersize?
According to the breathing in yoga this is the oppositie. In yoga you have to contract your pelvic Floor wen you inhale, and loose wen you exhale, that make sense.
these follow the Pilates method which is opposite in breathing from yoga...
Thanku thanku thanku. I was hoping somebody wld clarify this . 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you so much
Están muy bien los ejercicios para fortalecer

Nice
l had a hysterectomy, prolapse and bladder lift 9 months ago and was wondering do l to keep doing these pelvic floor exercises the rest of my life?
These seems like a lot of excercises; are there 3 top ones that I can do? I have a hard time holding the jelly bean. thanks
I'm floored at the number of commentors who didn't get the jellybean reference.
So much better than surgery.

Are we to do the clamshell and lunges on both sides (left and right)?
The bridge anthem clamshell exercises work on the glutes (buttocks) not the pelvic floor. This reinforces a miss connection that the pelvic floor muscles contraction involves the buttocks. It does not. Women come to treatment after wondering while they are still leaking and say the kegels do not work!
hi,which excersizes are best to relax pelvic floor muscles?

Susi Rankis lol. Me too
it's literally contracting the vaginal muscles. the same muscle that you use to stop yourself from peeing.
What do i do if i dont got a ball
Look's Good...5 - 8 - 2021
tried this Im very confused about the jelly bean I dont feel anything no contraction of pevis I dont feel anything I dont think it worked
I may be wrong, but I believe you are actually doing a Kegel. I think she uses the jelly bean as something to focus on, visualizing actually squeezing (Kegel) and picking up a jellybean. Could be totally wrong.
Imagine picking up a jelly bean as you activate the muscles you use to stop your pee. That's a kegel when u stop the flow of urine. ❤
What's the "jelly bean" please help
You're imagining you're picking up a jelly bean using your pelvic floor muscles
Workouts are simple, Just go to Unflexal workouts.

What does pick up the jelly bean? Squeeze?
Although I think the exercises are helpful and well explained, it's really annoying that each section tells you do 10 more and then the video doesn't play it. I'm obviously watching a workout video so I can work out alongside it, not so I can do homework once the video ends.
You pause and continue with your reps
Madam why do you Exhale with mouth ? Is there any special reason to use mouth instead of nose ?
jelly bean???
It also helps to make your lips smaller as if yiu are blowing bubble gum on the jelly bean pick ups
Not quite for me
what does she mean by jelly bean?
I don't get the "picking up my jelly beans with my hips" thing. Me stupid!
I may be wrong, but I believe you are actually doing a Kegel. I think she uses the jelly bean as something to focus on, visualizing actually squeezing (Kegel) and picking up a jellybean. Could be totally wrong.
