Welcome to JAMAICA - one of my favorite countries in the Caribbean. This island is full of life, culture, beaches, and reggae music, and it makes for an excellent vacation destination... However, there's a darker side of Jamaica that exists among the local population. In recent years, the nation has emerged as one of the most dangerous in the Caribbean with gang violence and political turmoil in the slums areas. In this story, I went deep into a dangerous slum called Flankers in Jamaica's second-largest city (Montego Bay) to document street life and see what kind of people live there.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this story - does it change the way you see Jamaica? Let me know in the comments down below!

PS I really love Jamaica! This is my 2nd trip here and when it comes to culture and vibes - there is no better place in the Caribbean. I made this video because I was curious about the real street life, far away from the tourist traps, and I’m really glad I did. Because the people everywhere in this country are amazing!!! 🇯🇲🙏🏼🔥

This may come as a surprise to many but I would have to rank the Russian people as some of the most hospitable. Many of the Jamaican people (and people of other countries) treated you well as long as you were spending money.
I can only assume that most Jamaicans are in contact with tourists more often than most Russians, Bulgarians, Togolese, etc.

I love how he connects with the locals and shows a genuine interest in their lives, even if it's just for a short time. Drew's passion for his content shines through in his videos, and I'm still in awe that he went solo without his friends - that takes a lot of guts! You sound sweet . You single 🫦
I HATE WHEN PEOPLE SAY NO ONE WILL BOTHER YOU1!! THAT IS NOT TRUE! Some men came in my yard in my gated community while my 2 year old was on the veranda, they walked straight into our yard off the street! they asked for money to buy a phone credit that evening our neighbour's house was broken into while she was not at home! a man was also shot in our gated community before we moved in (contracted killing ). Over 4 kids were killed at the start of the year by gun violence in Jamaica , while they were on their way to school in a taxi that got shot up... i guess all these victims are criminals! Jamaicans are not honest and it's so infuriating. THE COUNTRY IS NOT SAFE!!! YOU think people just going around making up how dangerous Jamaica is/
It's been amazing to watch your early films (which were already good) evolve and become so amazing! Love it! You've inspired me to push myself when I travel.

I’m American and was raised with Rasta men and ppl always thought I was Jamaican the values and love in which was stored I will forever be grateful for!! I don’t allow anyone to bad mouth jam rock ya heard!!!
I'm a born American who lived in Jamaica 20 years. I met my wife in Westmoreland and our 14 year old daughter and 9 year old son were born at Cornwall. At some point i was in Flanker every evening buying ganja and juice. If i did not show uo the Flanker people would call to check on me. Solid people there for sure. My family migrated to my home in America last year. I'm now worried about America and the violence there. For the most part Jamaica is a place where problems won't reach you if you are not living a street lifestyle. I actually knew my neighbors in Montego Bay and Kingston. We all looked out for each other always. Jamaica changed me for the better and i supposedly came from the best. I love the country and the people to death ! Jamaica is more than resorts or abject poverty. It’s unfortunate that Jamaica is always dichotomized in this way. There are many ways of life in Jamaica than just those two states. Also, Jamaicans have access to beaches, but it is true that preferred beaches may fall on privately owned resort property or have an entrance fee for the general public.

I know that you already did one, but it was only about one little festival in the middle of nowhere, and I doubt that many people who don´t live in Slovakia, would be interested to see it. We have so much to offer, from lovely castles, through picturesque nature, mountains, well preserved towns with elegant, historical architecture, some of the most beautiful women, great food, beverages, and much more.
There is so much to see, discover, and explore him, but majority of travelers and travel agencies ignore us, just because our country is tiny in size. I´ve seen a number of your videos, and I know that you know that even in the smallest countries, you can find the greatest of hidden gems, and Slovakia isn´t different in this field.
I don´t want to force you into doing something you don´t desire to do, but I am just tired of people almost always turning a blind eye to my country, for being tiny in size, population, stereotypes, or not having a metropolois with at least 1 million inhabitants...

All of them a run come jamaica to get views
@@Tameka876 there exists a film called “Life and Debt” that is very insightful: it shows how international money-lending from governments and NGOs affects we regular people. Spotlights the cause-and-effect cycles and things that demand notice & attention. Is it a movie about Jamaica ? Or is it a film about post-colonialism ? If people “run-don’t-walk” to click and like everything Jamaica-related, then it’s probably pound-for-pound the best filming-with-explaining available. If I feel tempted to critique the young traveling man who made this here particular video--for making something short that doesn’t address the big issues affecting the West Indies, I must remember: someone else already made the deeper, heavier, film. People come-running to click all Jamaican things: well, i think you are right: This island nation does enjoy and maintain a very positive reputation in all other parts of the world. Seriously: if you ask Americans, Russians, and Asians, most won’t know anything about Anguilla, the Dominican Republic, Trinidad & Tobago, etc. But they will recognize Jamaica and wish Jamaicans good things… 🙏📿 [my well-wishes & prayers ? Pay the entire nation for the bauxite mining, and return Jamaica’s soil. Abolish the Kingston Free Zone, and document all the reasons such a district hurts humanity. Record the story and give a scholarship to every man, woman, and child who is selling oranges by the armful/bagful. Protect Jamaican farms even if they don’t generate money: one cannot put a price-tag on food independence.] ❤🇺🇸✈️🇯🇲
Me encantó este video tuyo,

Hallowed Sabbath. Welcome to JamROCK 😅
The architecture is stunning!
There's public beaches all over. Some are free, some require a small fee to keep clean. Stop exaggerating a bad rumor.
Exactly like wtfff
This white boy just want to paint black community bad
There must be normal areas in Jamaica? Why do we only see the shit parts?
@@l.t.3857i live in jamaica an dont no what is a ghetto ,only on.media
Exactly these youtubers only care about clicks and views, and spreading a negative narrative about the country.
They always highlight the ghetto and slums. Never the normal parts of the country where there is middle class and upper class neighborhoods.
Click bait racism. It's a human safari to these guys. You'll never see this type of title in a European (& their descendants) countries
