Ezra is such a class act.. A great ambassador for the disc golf community.
I was looking at the Sol last night because my daughter is wanting to start playing. That was the first disc that came to mind. Ezra must have been reading my mind.
🧠🤯
Go mean green
@@ismaelllamas9226 YES! #GMG
@@EzraAderholdDG when I showed her the disc her jaw dropped. Can’t wait for her to throw it.
@@drm- haha that's awesome! I hope she loves it!!
Great video. This kind of information is much needed for beginners. So many new players go out and buy high speed/overstable discs and don’t understand why it won’t go straight or very far. Very cool how you demonstrated the different flights.
Hey Ezra, would you be willing to make a new video on timing? Specifically how to fix improper timing that might already be engrained in form? I think you have one of the cleanest forms out there, which is really impressive considering how strong you are. Thanks and good luck this year!
I was going to make a comment on how easily he made that look. I wish he explained a little on how form matters as well. Yes the sol is a great disc for beginners and he does say it will help you figure out what your doing wrong. If he makes a timing and form video, this would be the next step in helping out the beginners .
I keep coming back to the sol for my most understable mid. So consistent and I like the shallow rim
You're doing a great job promoting the sport
Great way to demonstrate the difference between the Sol and the Nuke! You as a pro have such a clean release and a lot of spin. Would’ve been even better if you had an actual beginner throw the disc.
Will be passing this video forward to players getting started.
*"GET TO DA CHOPPA!!!"* You're tha man! Keep up the great work & best of luck this season.
I switched to the Sol as my putting putter because of how shallow and glidey it is. Also since it's understable I can aim right at the pole even from C2 and it basically never fades.
I bag a sol and whenever I play with new players I give them that one to try and it almost always ends up being their best disc, so I totally agree that it’s a great beginners disc!
Recently picked up a Sol and threw it all weekend in North Carolina. Gotta say, this is such an amazing disc! Even with my slower arm speed, it just goes. Those pesky dog leg right shots? This disc just eats them up. I lack a proper forehand so this disc was clutch. ordered 2 of the EZ ones to go in my EZ squach bag :-P Also, that bag is amazing, I use it over my zuca cart all day. Thanks Ezra! You killed it at LVC! Keep up the amazing work!
Love to hear all that man!! Thanks for the support as well 🙌
Today I learned that Ezra throws a flippy 4-speed farther than I throw my driver. Awesome!!!
My 2nd ever ace disc, the Sol will always hold a special spot in the bag and my heart
The first time playing was about 15 years ago, and all we had was a nuke and an avenger between the 2 of us. After refinding the game during the pandemic, one of my first discs was a sol. It was one of my go-to discs for ease of use. I passed it along to my older brother when he started playing.
this story is literally me and my buddies back when. played like 7-8 years ago if not longer, stopped. then picked it up again during 2021 cleaning my room and finding my old stack of disk. Couldn't be more hooked now. Back in the day i was able to go to the local 7-11 or gas station and buy some disk (all discraft) had a nuke, and that putter with the dip in it challenger or something? But yes we all had nukes and similar putters. Also cool to know that back then i barley could throw my nuke 250+ and now i can throw my premium putters that far lol.
@@awpgaming7505 There's a Banger GT and Ringer GT with a groove top you might be thinking of. I think the Banger was more common. That was one of my first putters in 2018.
My girl threw her first shot today. I picked up a dx stingray with her in mind and it fit like a glove. Sol fits that slot perfect. Makes sense.
Thanks for the tip congrats on the 2nd place at Vegas great start to the season
You convinced me to buy it. I looked at it but thought it might too close to other disc I have, but from watching you, I realize I can use this quite often. Good review!
How is it
@@woxocastingtwitch beginner here. It's a pleasant disc to throw. The EZRA code at OTB discs is great too
Im not a beginner, but with my slower backhand, I could see this disc being very useful. I've never thrown a Sol but I do have one of yours on the way from teamdiscraft. As many of your disc that I own, I need to get me a signed one some day. I'll put that on my "must do" list, lol!
Ive been trying to grab an autographed or collectible disc regularly. I played from 2005 to 2015 and dont have a single thing to show for it so i wanna do better this time
Ezra is the best dude in disc golf for these type of videos.
I’m working towards a reliable forehand currently, but in the meantime the Sol is pretty much my cheat code for when I need a disc to turn right. Not quite the same as a forehand, but it gets the job done in most situations.
What a great video and what an ambassador for the sport
Ezra's clothing choice is always 🔥
I was wondering why this became one of your signature discs. This did a good job explaining it. If I can find a nice swirly plastic one I might have to snag it
Will you bag a Sol on tour this year?
If we play at high elevation then it might make the bag. I used one at worlds in Utah 2 years ago
This vid was surprisingly sweet. Also, the Paradox is great for beginners - it is even flippier.
As someone that has a trash forehand, the Sol is a great disc cause I know it will go right. I have it in ESP and brand new it still turns like crazy. I also have a bad shoulder from high school football, so this disc allows me to shape more shots without tearing my shoulder out of its socket.
Great vid Ezra, going to have to pick one up to support you, looks like it could be a great disc for my twin 7 year old boys. Keep up the great work!
Old school Comet would be another great choice
I had the SOL as one of my first disc and I can say personally, it teaches you the wrong "grip" for throwing more then an approach disc. You really should try and get beginners on a fairway driver PERSONALLY. Or you say "Beginners should throw a mid range until the footwork is better" But if you throw a midrange, prepare to NEVER birdie.
My peronal breakthrough in my disc golf career was the F3 from Prodigy. I threw BUZZ, SOL, and the Vector, and never had any real luck with drivers until I had a neutral flying fairway. I'm not sure what the F3 translates to for Discraft, but again from a personal perspective, players who throw short give up.
Anyway love you Ezra! Get your butt down to Virginia sometime and play some locals! I would pay almost anything to play a round with you!
Congrats on your placement at Vegas! I was happy to see you at the top of the leaderboards.
The two I ordered just arrived. I can't wait to get out and give a toss
Cool idea to show a comparison with a Nuke. When I was a beginner my first disc was a Nuke! And then when I threw that in the water I got another NUKE!
Also, the Sol is amazing. It's what I always hoped the Meteor was.
love it, great video! Love the Sol!
Ezra out here casually throwing 200 foot forehands with zero footwork, and a casual 1/4 speed 18" flick
that late turn is Sick.
🧈
Love my sol got 2 of them in different plastics
This is great stuff man. I needed this video when I first started. Lol would have saved me a lot of time, and money.
Haha so tempting to get a driver right away
Seems good for backhand-only players that want a disc to turn, surprised those didn't turn into rollers... must be an exceptional run of Sols
Certainly is! They actually fly great when thrown smoothly, if you have wobble out of the hand though then the roller possibility rises
The Sol is one of my favorite discs to throw. I pretty much only have wooded courses available to me, so the easy hyzer flips are great.
Love that you chose the Sol to be one of your discs for this drop. Fantastic video Ez 🔥
chose?
This disc is solid for anyone honestly, very fun to throw and highly versatile
One of the most fun to throw discs I’ve ever had honestly, Game changer for approach shots and tricky/technical putts
DGA Vortex is amazing for beginners as well
I have to admit I'm really impressed that you compared it to a nuke. I think all too often we don't see the comparison between big distance drivers and something is slow as a soul. So in this instance, I am really happy to have seen it in juxtaposition and I would recommend you do things like this more and more often. In fact, I'd like to see a lot of content creators do it
Big Ezra fan and certainly pro-Discraft
I think the DX Cobra is the best beginner midrange disc
But to the pro-Discraft side, for beginners who want a fairway driver instead of a midrange, the Discraft Heat is the greatest fairway driver of all time IMO.
Immense glide. Superior grip and control. Readily available.
The Roadrunner, Hatchet, etc could never. Not even close.
Only close competitor is the Discmania Essence
I liked it when I first started! I have moved on since .
I was looking for a meteor but had one of these given to me instead, very happy with it!
I carried a Zone/Buzzz/Meteor combination for years, but the SOL bumped the Meteor out of my bag. It's just soooo good, and much closer in hand-feel.
You ever try a comet? Bumped the sol out for me.
@@jmeow1235 yeah, I've owned a few over the years but I just can't stand how they feel. It's the same with the Mako3. I'll pull one out every now and then to give it another shot, but end up going back to what I have in the bag. If the Comet works for you, then that's awesome.
Understable mids are awesome for all players.
Discrafts midrange game is elite!! I know it's not your tour disc but the Meteor is also very good for a slightly more stable version of the Sol. The buzzz is the best point to point disc I've thrown.
🤘just bought two! Thank you
Can you do a review on your Cryztal Challenger ss as well? Im very excited to throw the ones I bought.
Possibly! Might depend on how busy I am with other videos. Thanks for the support, hopefully you love them as much as I do!
just ordered one today and i have 2 bagged already
Sol is great. Mine is signed by Brodie so it is on my wall.
Great job
I dont throw that slow, I can get a DD to about 450' but my technique is far from perfect, so a Sol or other understable molds actually flip more for me, because my form isnt that good. Thats a tricky lesson to learn about discgolf. Sometimes when your form improves, your overstable discs might stop flipping for you because of less off axis torque. A Sol could in theory teach you better form in the start so you dont end up where I am, with quite alot of power, but poor form. GG Ezra
Please edit this video and add in your pocket radar velocity measurements for each throw.
Also, I would like to know what elevation you are at?
thanks
Definitely a unique disc
DX Shark baby!
You make 330 feet look so easy man. Hope I can throw is half as good as you someday soon.
I like the sol it’s just to shallow for my hands
Gotta let the new players know about plastics since those def range in disk stability. Never thrown one but they do look good
I love my z sol but I'm going to give it to my dad so I have an excuse for buying the esp Ezra Aderhold one I just purchased.
Hahaha, thanks for the support!
To me the Sol is like the fierce, but a little longer as a midrange.
would definitely have to be the better quality plastic, that thing gunna be hittin some trees.
Even if this was not Filmed in South Dakota due to the weather right now 3/5/2023, this is very close to South Dakota with the Ponderosa Pines, the other tree that looks dead but is not and the dead short grass, the golden willow/Nyobi willow by the side is like Centeral to eastern South Dakota in the good parts of the state, so maybe not Aberdeen itself but the state park between Winner and Aberdeeen has a better layout course if they upkept the course and did not let the scrub growth kill off that course. This was happening 10 years ago to that park becuse the state park head he did not want to send of the simple paperwork with signatures to allow volunteers to help maintain the course (one guy who built the course illigally in 1995 he was grandfathered in but passed away in late 2000's) or use the good park people to maintain the scrub on the course all he wanted was the cross country ski turned into an illegal tough snowmobile route just wide enough for 1 snowmobile making it only that wide and keeping the fishing good. I hope he got fired for trying to push with illigal signs he used some of the Disc Golf money for snowmobiling on the barly wide enough for Snowmobiles on cross country ski route. Yes, that guy was an ass as the course used to be one of the best in South Dakota in the 2000's until lack of mantinace on the course and him kind of scaring people from maintenance. I think he assumes that every Disc Golfer is like the classic 1970's early 1980's hippy stereotype smoking Weed and doing modern weed derived from hemp.
Scottsdale Arizona, good guess though!
@@EzraAderholdDG I was sayin not South Dakota but the same type of area since most of South Dakota is like this save for Aberdeen that is somehow often colder in winter then anywhere in lower 48 of USA other then International Falls.
Thanks for this. I'm sharing with some I know who try to throw the wrong discs. I liked the different distances, and the comparison with a high speed disc. However, going from 127ft to 201ft more is quite the jump. 100ft increments would have been more helpful, as a beginner will never throw 300+, but might get to 200 within a season. I understand you intended to show what it does for higher arm speeds, but throws like 100-125, ~200, and one at 300+, might have been better for this video (and there are no rules against 4 throws for more increments).
I've heard that soooo many times, throw putters to improve your form... Im not sure if its best for beginners. I still belive it's a great advice but I have some issues with it personally. I started getting some really nice clean releases with fairways, I actually control the angle, there is no wobble or nose up BUT no matter what I do with putter it's just terrible. It wobbles like crazy, release is way early or way late, angles go to shit. Yes, putters will show you what you need to improve IF you can grip them in any reasonable way. For me they just feel way too deep, even the most shallow ones and I just grip lock or shank it every time. When I switch to almost putter grip with my fingers flat on the bottom of the disc it's great, all problems gone, lovely flight... but that's an upshot at best and not really telling me why my drives suck half of the times. I would indeed recommend a putter for first 5-10 throws, but if I see my buddy griplocking like crazy Ill give him Diamond right after.
Hmmmm. When you use the putter grip is your pinky touching the rim?
@@EzraAderholdDG Yup, it kinda lays along the inside of the rim, why ? I never gave too much thought to pinky so I'm super curious.
@@chrisp9824 ok, well that's the grip I use for anytime I throw a putter or mid even at full power 🤷
@@EzraAderholdDG Oh... my god, that's kinda insane. How about other pros ? I guess I just assumed you guys power grip for drives with putters, that explains a lot 😅 That means my form is getting somewhere but my arm must be literally made out of noodles 🤣 Thanks for your time and all the tips, I think your form tutorials are some of the best out there
@@chrisp9824 some pros throw power grip for putters, some throw a modified powerful grip (which is like in between the two).
1 minute GANGG
Ayyyy
Aced on my 2nd throw ever with the SOL. Amazing disc for wooded shots. Looks especially good in the EA squatch bag too
That's dope 🔥🔥
I love my Sol it's way faster than you think.
This is my favorite understable approach disc. Effortless straight shots for backhand and forehand, and obviously BH turnovers. cryZtal plastic sol for the win!
Ooo crystal would be sick
Dare I say you sold this disc better than PP
I have to agree, a Comet/Sol style disc is the best bet for a beginner becuse it is Understable but is not an Innova Wolf or other US Disc. I would go with the Comet, yes it has a bead, but it also has Big Z not just ESP for the Production Run that can work for putting. I know as one of my putting molds, 2 of the Titanic, a modified Magnet in Proline in backpack is better then the 2 Jawbreaker Magnets that sucks as it is so soft having to replace every 2 years when I played 1--2 times a week more often.
This was before the city of Pierre (Pier) ruined a local course in 2019 with a new playground too close to a basket due to taking out a part of the course for a new water treatment plant that will not cover the whole city, one section by the airport and a Native American only K--8th grade school are still on the unsafe treatment plant with plans to fix the one by the Airport and crappy Airport to rural water/working on getting the good water for the pipes leaving the Native American only K--8th grade school on its own without any water and they will just complain as they actually asked to stay on the water they have been using for years just in an attempt to use the head of Trbal Relation there lawyers in DC to Sue for money/reparations to the when that facility it can only be used for toilet plumbing in the city, still is used for the plumbing in city due to the beyond high levels of Manganese in the water something I suspected for years with the amount of rarer Cancer in the city until the USA government set new levels thus helping the city get a new plant getting its water from the Missouri River.
We needed the treatment plant but did not need the city to put it where they did, now fewer people stay at this one nice hotel becuse they lost the view to the Missouri River, they lost money and the plan is to shut down the hotel part of the place unless a convention is held at the center since most people now stay at the cheaper new place the same company owns behind a Red Rosa they used to own before the chain bought that out. Now none of the hotels In Pierre (Pier) have a river view, just some very cheap apartments that have high rent to the fixed up ones fixed in 2015 after the 2011 Missouri River flood, to not have water damage in basement and new paint/vinal on the side of building still drafty using not legal thinner outer sliding storm windows for the only windows with heat that nobody can control as it is set by the apartment manager who is forced by owner to keep at 60 the use and no built in AC units, you bring your own for the 0.5 bedroom apartments, the one bedroom is basically an oversized walk in closet.
WHY NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THE GREAT PLAY AT VEGAS …
I was too sneaky 🤣
“Let’s go nice and slow” (throws a nice 125 foot shot). “Now just a little harder” (throws it further than I’ve ever thrown a disc) Me: (hangs head in shame) WTF…
😭😅
Comet >sol
😬
Bring back Judah its okay that he makes you look like Gannon.
No it's not 😤😭
Nah lol, I'd love to have him back though
"A little more speed..." throws a 4-speed 328'. LOL
Psst, beginners, think maybe 200-250'.
Imagine all the money he could make instructing middle age broads on OF😂😂
👀😅
Misleading title; that's not a Skeeter.
Hmmm
Everything you said about the Sol is how I describe the Skeeter and why I recommend it to new players. Definitely gonna pick up some Sols now so I can give my friends more options when I drag them out to the course 😂
@@captainxorro8553 heck ya!
5 mins of RUclips for 5 seconds of “Info” is too much. Just post the mold name and keep it moving!
If that's what you want go to Reddit or something
@@EzraAderholdDG I avoid Reddit for the same reason (especially the disc golf subs). I really enjoy your longer form content in general. No hate, this just felt too long for the info being passed to us.
Keep it up man, didn’t mean to sound rude :)
I don't think you're pronouncing the best first disc properly. Think the sound bees make. BUZZZ
@Jullia kosic Read their comment again. There’s no ill intent at all. They’re saying the best first disc isn’t pronounced "Sol" it’s pronounced Buzzzzzzzzzzzz. Because they think the Buzzz is the best first disc.
@Jullia kosic I'm sorry you didn't see the joke in this. Bxkken is correct, I was joking that the best first disc is the Buzzz and not the Sol. I still hope you have a wonderful day.
Buzz is too stable and doesn’t even feel that great.
Just ordered 2, good luck this season!
Buzz would just hyzer into the ground for beginners...
