I think the Lat 64 River was probably the easier disc to help me get distance as a beginner. Lots of glide and very forgiving for a novice. The “It” would have been great option had I known it then. Great list Robbie!
Maybe a weird beginner disc but I think the roc is great for someone newer. Not as overstable as the numbers suggest, cheap, and will teach you how to properly cycle discs. The feel I could see someone not liking but other then that they are great.
Great video Mr. C. Had discs for years playing rarely until I moved last August and my backyard touches the second fairway of a disc golf course. Then I went crazy and watch a LOT of videos like this to learn and get better. What works 4 me: Putter: my chain eater is the Aviar putt and approach, cause Aviar. Upshots: Aviar3 for drives and hyzer. A Roach in Jawbreaker for grip and I think it is basically an Aviar with a more rounded edge. Midrange: Buzzz in ESP. Z plastic dumps on me. LOVE the Meteor in ESP! Love. Started out going the straightest and longest for me. Now starting to fade right on backhand like it supposed to do. Fairway driver: don’t throw them because my midranges go just as far with more control right now. Have tried and like the Leopard and River. On the shelf until they are more useful to me. You do you tho.
The discraft sol and the innova mirage are two of the best beginner discs out there in my opinion. They helped me learn to throw straight at first and then helped me learn to throw turnovers after that
When I was starting (back) out, I really leaned on the Underworld from Westside Discs. Super flippy and easy to make go straight when you're figuring out your arm sped.
Great video Robbie! Right on point for your target audience. The 5 I own for those slots are: IT (and Diamond), Mako3 (5|5|0|0), P Model S (3|5|0|2), Paradox (5|4|-4|0), and Swan 1 Reborn (3|3|-2.5|0) or Armadillo (1|2|0|1).
Man againlove the intro. I can't say how much this makes me interested only for the nestagia. Keep up the content and preaching the gospel of the pig and all that it can do for you. I am a believer and have retiered my zone for the pig.
You have done exactly that for me, thanks for the content! I picked it back up when I moved to the PNW because regular golf is just too expensive. My game went from no form beginner to mid amatuer level in a month.
I was seriously just looking for an Uplink yesterday (no luck) for a friend of mine. And then you pulled out the pure lol. Yet again, couldnt find it. I was going to grab him a proxy or a pure. Neither were in stock so I grabbed a Watt.
Meteor, River, and even some lightweight fairways or drivers! Thank you for coming to Humble Tree!!! When are you going to try and ace hole 7 again??? It’s calling your name…
I just started playing about a month ago and I'm addicted! Your videos have been super helpful. Thanks! I recently picked up the river because I don't have the arm speed yet to toss my 9 speed. The second toss with it was my longest toss to date. I also love my Mako3 and my Buzzz. Quick question how many of each type, putter, mid, fairway and distance, should be in a beginner bag?
Nice choice bagging a river! Most people will recommend 1 putter, 2 or 3 mid range, 2 or 3 fairway, 1 distance. Multiple options for mid and fairways to cover over stable, straight/ stable, and under stable shots. I'm personally only carrying 5 discs to build consistency and avoid over thinking shots.
Biggest tip I give beginners... Get a friend with similar skills... Go find a big field... stand facing each other at opposite sides... throw the disks to each other. You have plenty of time to step out of the way... (Personally I like catching them... takes a bit of practice... DON'T use your shin to stop a disk... q8D The funny thing.. You'll find it easier to throw a disk to a person than a basket... So in a game... think of the basket as your friend ... "Here, catch this one". I find the Diamond is great for going the opposite way than most of your other disks! I'm a Right hand backhander... and I haven't got my forearm up to speed (and just hurt my arm if I throw too many Fore's... So most of my shots go straight or to the left (unless I tip them back in an Anhyzer, but then the turn is a big arc...) What I need is a disk that goes straight, but then turns RIGHT... and that's where the Diamond comes in... With a decent throw from a little Hyzer, it flips up, goes straight but then turns right before either hitting an edge and rolling (or if I got the hyzer right) it goes round to the right and fades to flat as it hits the ground.... It takes a bit of practice, so not exactly a beginners game... but for those channels with a turn to the right at the end... (usually a forearm throw) out comes my diamond. As for a beginner disk... Something I loved while learning was my Lattitude 64 JADE. quite forgiving, goes straight and long with a fade just before it lands but doesn't wander too far off target (so for a right hand backhander like me, I just aim slightly to the right , away it goes, and shifts a little to the left at the end.
Im not sure what I would have done differently. Especially with the honorable mentions. You covered most of the discs I would recommend to a new player. Maaaaaaaaybe I would have put the Sol/Meteor instead of the uplink or instead of the origin... those are kind of in between those.
I love the uplink too, but I worry giving a beginner a bag of only flippy discs wouldn't give them enough flat/straight shooters to push them to stop doing the hyzer disco.
I’m clearly not Robbie, so I’m speculating: The IT is a blend of the Leopard and the Roadrunner. This results in a glidey, understable version of the ever-popular Leopard. All three of these (plus the Sidewinder) are lovely beginner discs.
I still consider myself a beginner. My fav putter is Innova Xero R-Pro (2/3/0/0), mid is Lat 64 Fuse Opto (5/6/-1/0), driver is Discraft Sting Z (7/5/-2/1).
I feel like the buzz especially new can be too stable for a beginner midrange. I feel like the MD1, Mako3, and Buzz SS fill that slot a little better (origin would be my top pick as well though)
How about the meteor? Sweet disc a tad more under stable than the buzzz ss. Great chucka for a noob and shape shot disc as technique gets better. Love my meteor.
I have recently been giving some Prodigy a chance and got an A5. Once I realized that the flight numbers are not really correct I realized how awesome it is. I got the "Joker" Luke Humphries tour series and I think joker is a much better name for this disk.
Great video today. I had never heard this so let me ask make sure I heard you right. With the IT if I don’t have a strong arm speed I should get a max weight one. And it well fly straighter?
I love you and your personality and I totally get the cowboy hat. It suits you and your zibe but I'm having to defend you to to many of my friends that I'm trying to introduce to your channel!!! 😂😂❤
How the heck did the Crave not make it? Easily best beginner to pro disc with the weights and plastic options. Detour is going to kick a lot of Uplinks out, already booted mine.
Cordyceps? Like, from The Last of Us infamy? :D In all seriousness, just stopped by to drop some positive energy. Keep being you, man. Been enjoying the content for a couple years now, from a long time disc golfer who plays like a beginner.
I am a MVP/Axiom fan.... I would say My 5 are the Crave, Fireball, Hex, Paradox, and Gateway Chief for putting (I don't like any of MVP/Axiom's plastics for putting).

100% agree on the roc as a beginner disc.
Was my first disc
It's not terrible in a base plastic, and you can throw it forever.
@@aaronhackett5889of all the Rocs I had, DX was my favorite. Sometimes I liked KC’s but they started to turn much quicker.
And for being quite stable, they are not torque resistant. They'll still show you your flaws.

The Mirage is dope. It's wildly understable but so fun! Sucks for putting in my opinion, but wow, can I get some wild turnover shots
When I was starting (back) out, I really leaned on the Underworld from Westside Discs. Super flippy and easy to make go straight when you're figuring out your arm sped.
I still use the underworld for turnover shots since I can only throw backhand. Underworld and Wedge are my go to disc for that
Great video Robbie! Right on point for your target audience.

Mako3 is goated
The Innova Valkyrie was my go to!
I buy every Maverick I ever find on used racks. Partly because it’s my favorite mold ever. Partly to give out to new players

Lat 64 diamond is a great beginner disc for those looking for faster speeds. 8 speed. (Edit- I saw it in the honorable mention after this)
I was seriously just looking for an Uplink yesterday (no luck) for a friend of mine.
And then you pulled out the pure lol. Yet again, couldnt find it. I was going to grab him a proxy or a pure. Neither were in stock so I grabbed a Watt.
I am having a good day, thanks for asking Robbie!
That makes Robbie and I very happy to hear.
I would even say the Prodigy F9 is the go to disc, It's understable yes but has a true flight not a flip over and roll type disc.
Bro when robbie quotes the exact conversation in the intro that got me into disc golf it makes you feel so special 😂
Meteor, River, and even some lightweight fairways or drivers! Thank you for coming to
Humble Tree!!! When are you going to try and ace hole 7 again??? It’s calling your name…
I think the yikun shu and yikun view are awesome under stable discs that are easy to use for beginners
Spreading that Tattar Sauce with that straddle putt! Love my uplink, how stable are A1-4? Because I know F7s are super flippy. Prodigy is so weird.
The Buzz SS and the Sting has been surprisingly good straight flyers for me.
I bag a neutron uplink and a Midnight Prowl!
I recommend them all the time ❤
Those tee pads are ankle nightmare fuel.

The meteor is forgotten gold
Absolutely love the A5. Don’t bag it anymore (switched to a Zone). When I was starting out the A5 was so helpful.
the f7 helped me out a lot when I was a beginner, and with Prodigy's new manufacturing they look like they'll be even more glidy now.
I love the uplink too, but I worry giving a beginner a bag of only flippy discs wouldn't give them enough flat/straight shooters to push them to stop doing the hyzer disco.
For me the top three are the sol, the meteor, and the shaman.
All great disc kinda shocked the sting didn’t make it. Great videos as always
Robbie, why the IT vs the Leopard by Innova? I loved the Leopard and Leopard3, but I'm gonna try to find an IT now just to try it out.
I’m clearly not Robbie, so I’m speculating: The IT is a blend of the Leopard and the Roadrunner. This results in a glidey, understable version of the ever-popular Leopard. All three of these (plus the Sidewinder) are lovely beginner discs.

Weaker or slower arm or slower thrown, a light one will go more straight. The harder its thrown, the heavier it needs to be to fly.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOREVER For you to ask me how I Am doing today. I am having a good one, thanks Robbie.
14:02… what’s that green flash
How did u not pick a deptuy as the putter with that hat?
I love you and your personality and I totally get the cowboy hat. It suits you and your zibe but I'm having to defend you to to many of my friends that I'm trying to introduce to your channel!!! 😂😂❤

I'm trying to get my son to start playing, this could be the perfect setup.
All awesome discs!!!
Robbie is spot on here
whats with all these parking lot adjacent courses yall have down south?
Hex yeah.
Sensei all day.
MVP SIGNAL is my favorite as a beginner.
I AM HAVING A GOOD ONE
Every L64 disc ive ever thrown has been more stable than the numbers suggested.
Likewise but once they beat in the discs are hyzer flip machines
Cordyceps? Like, from The Last of Us infamy? :D
In all seriousness, just stopped by to drop some positive energy. Keep being you, man. Been enjoying the content for a couple years now, from a long time disc golfer who plays like a beginner.
Robbie trying to turn us into mushroom zombies! 😱
Mako3 is an easier to throw disc than the Origin in my opinion.
Who tf is Luke you are always greeting in the beginning of your vids ?
Thanks for asking doing great 👍
First!
Just like you robbie 🎉
Yes. Yes I am.
River and Mako????
If I could only have one disc, it would be an Opto Pure!
I am a MVP/Axiom fan.... I would say My 5 are the Crave, Fireball, Hex, Paradox, and Gateway Chief for putting (I don't like any of MVP/Axiom's plastics for putting).
Agreed, I'm not a big fan of their putters. The only one I liked was the r2 ion. I use the trash panda innercore currently.
@@rynoturtle I have never thrown anything from Trash Panda. Might have to give it a try!!
Playing on the worst tee pads
I still haven't been able to get the Robbie C Pig 😢
Those tee pads! What kind of masochist put those in.
