The only way to really overcome those long gears is by adding boost... The heads and cams are only going to give you additional power above 6000 RPMs... Small amount of torque lost down-low is possible

im so glad you made this vid. i was on the fence of getting a tremec. its interesting the pull is diff and it doesnt like dumps into 2nd. i also find it extremely interesting that you said the calimer lost 43hp. i dont know what causes that and didnt even know transmissions were even able to affect hp. you mentioned you can chirp gears now. my setup is fbo and built rear with a trutrac, mt82 3.73. i use a 15" radial and i can chirp into 5th. i powershift mine without any issues at 7500. mantic twin, of course mgw x spec low profile and ss clutch line and 13/14 gt500 cmc. i am making great power and am tuned by one of the best. whats your mods? i like the aspect of the mt82 because i can beat on it and its a perfect ratio for me at the strip and back roads cruising, and by cruising i mean beating on it like i stole it. im original owner and ive had zero issues, mainley because ive taken care of it very well. 13gt with 37k miles.

So I can’t confirm the BC stg was the result of my loss but they was basically nothing else that it could have been unless the Dyno itself had something off. Same Dyno I used to turn a 449 whp in warm weather and did another in the fall with the Calimer and results were a 406. The reason for testing was lightening rotating mass and was expecting a 460. Also tested some coil packs 65k volts that should have bumped another 15 whp per Granatelli.
So the plan is to test again with the Tremec to see what the results are. My tuner didn’t have a explanation.
My mods are Ported Boss intake, 85 mm tb, e85, 50 lb injectors, LT headers 1,7/8 to 3” collectors and x pipe, Borla over the axle pipes and JLT 2 CAI, 170 degree thermostat.
My shift to 3rd was a lifted shift.
The trans will help me achieve super car status after the heads, cam and new tune. The trans will take some getting used to. One thing at a time.

@@CoyoteProductionsBoss302 sounds like a dyno issue. You would def make more hp in the cooler season. What dyno was this on? Im making 435/372 on a dyno dynamics dyno which is a loaded dyno which reads the lowest. I dont have many mods power wise, just boss mani, arh long tubes 1 7/8 to a 3"collector, pmas, driveshaft which free hp and thats it in terms of power. I was dyno tuned and then street tuned afterwards. I know your boss def makes some power with those mods, but what i see could be holding you back are those coil packs and tb. Oem are best. I believe the factory tb is 87mm, so you bottle necked it with an 85mm. I could be wrong but im 90% sure factory tb is 87mm which is 3". When you went back on the dyno did it get a retune and was it the same tuner/dyno as the 1st time?

The stock TB is 80 mm. The Dyno is the same Dyno and is where I tuned the car too. It’s a mustang Dyno so it’s loaded. I also have a 1 piece DS. I also backed up the 449 one month later on a Dynojet with winpep8 software that standardizes to the norm and got a 448. That’s what’s so puzzling. I have vids on all theses Dynos. The one thing that’s honestly different besides stock MT82 is I has an aluminum flywheel that that caused me a lot of grief and threw a lot of ghost misfires. I went back to a ford racing FW when I got the 406. My tuner was also scratching his head and couldn’t answer why they were so different. I think it’s a Dyno issue. All my mods are listed on my IG account CoyotesNorth.

Hi what shifter did u have with the mt82 ,and did u like it ?

I had the BF racing bracket and Barton short throw shifter. I liked how it shifted yes and is a shorter throw than the Tremec. I did have a lot of NVH from the BF Bracket and I believe the MGW is better from what I’ve heard.

Why would you do heads on a boss 302 when you have CNC heads from factory ? Why would you do cams when the road runner engine has the best factory cams. Just boost the car for the same price of all that nonsense. I’ve made over 1k whp with factory Gen 1 cams and factory Gen 1 heads.

    • @CoyoteProductionsBoss302

So the heads are boss heads with bowl work. The cams are Boss racing cams designed by Ford which were used in the CJ NA 2013 program. The cams were intended for the Boss but Ford pulled them out of production. This is an all Boss build NA only to keep the car true to its heritage. Everyone is boosted so I’m partial to NA. MAF racing has ran a high 7 second quarter mile on Gen 1 cams so I’m well aware of these cars potential.
It’s not about the money it’s about the ride! When completed I will have a one of one car that’s a great all around ripping Boss!
