I certainly overthought the whole event! There's such great legend in lore that surrounds this holiday that I was hoping we would have everyone share their favorite version of the stories. As an Taiwanese living abroad, this is my interpretation: People are generally disconnected to the jade rabbit type of legend. In modern Taiwan, spending time with family and friends is the drive behind BBQ on Moon festival!
Yet, all of the children that I've taught always do some sort of art project related to the moon and the Jade rabbit during this season. Perhaps they grow out of that? Maybe they forget what they learned as little kids? I know I forgotten a lot. Lol~JB
