I’ve been trained on both a crown reach truck and a crown stock pick machine (cherry picker) but I’ve watched both of your training videos and enjoyed them. I too am afraid of heights, roller coasters anything of the sort. when I was offered to be trained to use the stock pick machine I was hesitant but did decide to take the training and grew to like doing the work and using the machine whenever needed. It’s also helped with other potential height related activities.
Nice job, just a couple of safety observations, first do not use the shock adsorbing lanyard it wont help anyone that is less than 15+ feet of the floor because of deployment, operator physical body height to D-ring, and harness stretch. Always use a self retracting life line, they lock up in 2 feet or less. Also your body harness fit, front chest strap should be across the center of your chest, and the D-ring on the back should be between your shoulder blades, not the center of your back. This way you eliminate being thrown head first possibly into something.
My last job didn’t inspect the forklift, two hours later the operator on that fork blow the transmission and it barely made it back to the parking station
I work at Crowns main plant in New Breman Ohio and I use the SP trucks every other day and I can tell you they handle very very smoothly. Thank you for showing this video.
I work at a major warehouse that supplies autoparts. Been there for two months now, all of our lift trucks are crown like this one. So far I've found them very easy to use, great guidence system. The only thing unvering at first is how far the masts sway when your close to the limit of how high it goes, That takes some getting used to. 6 weeks in I forget to lock in and wrecked one into some grating, the manager was like " wow, people normally crash at least once before 6 weeks " Replaced the grating and its good, its a warm warehouse to. Love the fan feature. So far Ive been assinged one of the older Crowns. But Ive n ever had a problem with it, easy to use, feels solid, lots of storage. Keep up the good work

I am fairly comfortable on one of these. I’ve operated a Raymond and there’s very little visibility of what’s in front of you so you have to be EXTREMELY vigilant what moving below. Always do a check of your harness by a quick pull of it. Make sure it locks up. I do that every time I get on that mofo. You never know when today might be your day🤷♀️ slow and steady..safe is the key with Raymond OPs. Otherwise it’s fun as he|| to see a birds-eye view of the warehouse. Highly recommend.. just focus on the racking if you’re afraid of heights like me…

Exactly the same selector Ive been driving 90% of a work day for 10 years. I’ve been driving a picker for 32 years now, just different models. All the osha rules are the same for my company except don’t have to wear glasses, thank God. The harness is a hot pain in the ass. The foot pedal is another pain because if you need to go up or down just a few inches or the same moving forward or reverse you have to be on it. Not a bad job in all, more money per hour, of course, is what everyone wants though. 🙂
the only difference i had from this video is that the cherry picker i drove automatically locked onto the pallet when you drive into it. there was no lock button. and the foot pedal on the far right is what releases the pallet. other than that everything was the same
The foot pedal that he was referring to to the right actual is used to clamp the clamps to a pallet. He called it a release button. He was correct when he said the yellow (looks orange to me) lever releases the clamp.
The tether or shock absorbing lanyard is too long for the application. The operator must have more than 18.5 feet of fall clearance or he/she hits the ground. The lanyard is 6 feet and comes with a 3 foot shock. That is 9.5 feet. ad the height of most workers at 6 feet you have 15.5 feet. add 3 feet for safety and you can see them 18.5 feet of fall clearance. A retractable is much better.The stopping distance is only a few inches.
I worked at Lowes back during the pandemic. Running a Yale Order Picker. I was fulfilling orders for Pickup as a night time Job . I was a 1 Team overnight stock/reciever. I GOT STUCK IN THE AIR! Couldn't move back or forth, and the Machine wouldn't come down. Checked to make sure my foot was firm on the dead man switch, and it was. I turned the key on and off. And they told me that the problem was common due to not putting water in the battery. APPEARRENTLY to my idotic bosses the only way to bring the Machine down was to shut it off. Wait a few minutes, then power it back on and try to descend. There's any Emergency Hydraulic release valve.. WTF?! And I asked them if we could just use it to bring me down and they said "No! There isn't a valve." Now all order pickers and pretty much any machine that elevates you must have a emergency hydraulic release valve. Correct??

I only feel it impedes line of sight more cuz of the glare from the lights and fogging if you work in the hot summer in Arizona. Sweat fogging up glasses plus the cage front on the order pickers. I need to be able to see.
I drive the order picker like a reach sometimes 🤣🤣 bc I drive the reach so often the rare times my job ask me to switch to a order picker I be reversing that mf a lot 💀

For those that don’t know as a safety precaution the machine will only allow you to go up a certain height and lower to a certain height when there is nothing attached to the pallet grab. It depends on what machine you have and what it was programmed to do. It will either override the hydraulic buttons to either go higher than the machine allows you too or lower than it allows.
@@Heat_Rush Some warehouses narrow isles they drive a turret truck (swing truck) where the forks can be rotated to pick a pallet from one side of the isle to another. Though it's not very common you'll see warehouses using a turret truck as they're very expensive.
why do you need to wear safety glasses on a forklift or cherry picker, unless you are in a warehouse where stuff is flying thru the air in large amounts I think it's silly. The safety glasses give you a glare it's just plain aggravating.

When I did my first interview with crown, the way they did a height check to see if you were scared of heights was to go on a ride with a tsp driver.

we have a tire storage in calgary we use a cherry picker to put 3 sets of tires up and to bring 3 sets down

It should. That’s why we inspect it before use. If you rmachine continues to move after hitting it I wouldn’t use it.

It's a ride on fork lift, not a cherry picker ! It's not even a very good one as it won't do narrow aisle work.
Amazon aisles aren't narrow where the machinery is used. I believe that's where he is.

We used Hyster order pickers at Amazon.
You have no idea how to size the harness or wear it correctly. Nobody should have to help you attach to the lanyard.
