    Thank you very much. I play my history teacher almost every day and he favors the scillian defense. I am gonna surprise him with this tomorrow.

    forget gambit haters! smith morra totally rocks! if you're a tactical player and learn just a LITTLE smith morra theory, you will start grabbing higher rated scalps left and right! i always hated facing the sicilian with advance, grand prix and even the wing gambit, but once i learned just a few lines in the morra a whole world of tactics all over the board opened up to me and my rating in this opening was +200 in under 40 games!!! all the initiative a gambiteer could dream of & fairly easy to learn.

    I think IM Danny Rensch's off the charts likeability is why he's the only one who can get away with saying "biatch" in a formal instructional chess video.
    I'm not sure Mato or Kingscrusher could pull it off ;)

      The other reason he can, is because he's at a really high post on chess.com, the no.1 chess site in the world ;)

    Marc Esserman's book "Mayhem in the Morra" is great for anyone interested in this rich attacking opening.

    I have always been an e4 player and know the Ruy Lopez pretty well... as well as playing against the French... but what the f... devil would I do against the Sicillian?! I have some homework to do now! ;O)

    11. Nd5 should henceforth be known as the "Esserman Attack". I've now played it in several games with success. The engine seems to evaluate it as equal, but that's of little importance in an over-the-board game as most humans don't have the defensive skills of a chess engine. Does anyone know if this line had been seen before?

      +Matthew Conley someone once said in a forum... "if you're down material and an engine says you're =, you're winning"

    He defends with Qxd6. The point with Bg5 is that it not only covers d8 but e7 as well.

    At 12:19, R on A8 moves to C8, attacks Q on C6. How is it trapped? I don't see any immediate checkmate either.

    Both Alapin and Smith Morra are anti-Sicilian. Which is more aggressive? And why?

  • @roynut
    @roynut 2 года назад

    At 10.48 couldn't it be a checkmate in four moves? Bf7 Kd8. Bb6 Kc8.Qc1 Kb8. Qc7 check mate.

  • @aronhegedus
    @aronhegedus 11 лет назад

    if rook moves toA8, then white plays bishop to G5, forcing black king to move away, and then queen can take the rook with check, then the other rook as well :)
